Introduction The documentary Babies by Thomas Balmès is a film that takes place in four very different locations around the world. The documentary follows four babies and their families from when they are first born as they grow up and are able to walk. We watch Ponijao grow up in Namibia, Bayar grow up in Mongolia, Hattie grow up in San Francisco, and Mari grow up in Tokyo. Because the babies are from such different places, the documentary allows us to see what it is like growing up in cultures that we are currently unfamiliar with. The film opens up your eyes to the various forms of living in other areas around the world. In this paper, I will discuss the universal themes I noticed, my personal reflection of the film, the various
This toy for infants 6 through 36 months is interesting because it has different modes to match different developmental stages. The three modes allow the infant to either play their own tune, press a button to hear a song or crawl along behind the toy which produces lights and sounds when it’s pressed. This is a good investment for only eighteen dollars, especially since it is made of durable plastic and should last a long time. The toy is almost completely gender neutral as there are no noticeable characteristics that would fit into into either gender role. In terms of the parents interacting with the toy and the baby, the manufacturers recommend putting the toy in front of the infant while the infant is on it’s stomach and then putting slight pressure on the infant’s feet. That way the infant will have something to push against if they was to attempt crawling towards the toy. This toy provides many developmental benefits to the baby such as improving tactile sensation, learning cause and effect, allowing the infant a creative outlet through making their own music, providing ample amounts of allowances. The main benefit that the manufacturer suggests is that it has multiple modes and will follow various stages in the baby’s development. This device is particularly useful because it provides the infant with multiple

Summertime also means juicy watermelon stains on clothes, chocolate splotches on the overalls, and stinky feet dipped in mud pies. When it comes to summertime there is no denying the beautiful sunshine and relaxing nights in the yard, but it also means more messy children. This will increase the supply and enable the electricity providers to provide energy to these units in an efficient manner.

When explaining the differences in how energy and matter travel through ecosystems and organisms, I was reminded of a diagram and teaching from when I was in grade school. The diagram is of the water cycle and how the water cycle flows through our ecosystem. This diagram I was reminded of and will refer to for the duration of this question demonstrates the process in the most simplistic of ways. The water cycle demonstrates water vapor molecules gathering in the atmosphere. As they become heavier, they form precipitation and fall to the earth. Depending on whether or not the water falls on land or a water resource, the water will either be absorbed into the ground or run-off into a body of water. Then the water will evaporate back into the atmosphere continuing this perpetual cycle.

“Energy Baby!” This was often heard echoing throughout the arena after Congress Executive Director, Richard Rossi, exclaimed this on the first night of the Congress. “Energy Baby!” was told to the audience, so they would be excited and energized as each speaker came out and presented. Although this was the original intention of the saying, upon writing this essay I realized that “Energy Baby!” could also be used to describe the advances in science and technology that was presented. The “new” ideas would be considered the “baby” and the reaction is the “energy” that not only the scientist, but enthusiastic students who admire these scientists and technologist. Purpose is signified as “we the people” have the power to change the union. It is the ability to influence the behavior of others. Over the years, we have given to the government, the constitution sets the condition on which that power is able to be used. Power is not handed over, we must reason. We must reason towards a more perfect union.
Derrington (2013) developed the Drug-Exposed Infant Identification Algorithm (DEIIA) to identify prenatal drug exposure in infants, the percentage of those who were referred to and eligible for the Part C Early Intervention in Massachusetts. In order to develop (DEIIA) the author had to use data from the population based Pregnancy to Early Life Longitudinal (PELL) system. PELL contained information such as birth certificates, maternal and infant hospital records, and Early Intervention (EI) service records. From 1998 to 2005 there were a total of 629,269 in-state deliveries to Massachusetts residents in maternity hospitals. The DEIIA used two types of indicators: positive toxicology screens on the birth certificate and International Classification
