Judaism, Judaism And Abrahamic Religion : Three Religions In The World

Religion is the belief that people use to help define the meaning and purpose of life. Generally this purpose is linked to a higher power. Judaism, Christianity and Islam religions are three major religions in the world. All three consider themselves to be monotheistic. This is the belief in one god that is the supreme ruler of all. These three religions share many commonalities, as well as differences. The three branches of religion are referred to as Abrahamic religions. Abrahamic religion evolved from followers whose beliefs centered around Abraham and his descendants. Jews and Christians base their beliefs in Abraham and Sarah as the direct descendants of Jesus Christ. On the other hand, the Muslims trace their roots back to Abraham and Hagar, the mother of Ishmael. Jews see Abraham as their Patriarch. They look to him as a father. Abraham’s belief in one God is considered the foundation for Jews. Islams remember Abraham as the father of Ishmael. Mohammed was an offspring of Ishmael, therefore, showing the importance of Abraham to the Isalm faith as well. Christianity regards Abraham as an example of faith and obedience and a forefather of Jesus. Abraham is highly regarded among Christians. Both Judiasm and Islam developed centuries ago in the middle east. Islam was founded in Saudi Arabia while Jewish and Christian religions were both founded in Palestine. Judiasm started in Canaan and traces its origins to the covenant God made with Abraham and his lineage.
