Throughout the novel, Janie waits for men to rescue her from her life rather than her taking action to have a better life and claiming her independence. Janie’s reliance on men is shown following Jody's death when she realizes "that she had a host of thoughts she had never expressed to him, and numerous emotions she had never let Jody know about. ”() Due to the fact that Janie allowed Jody's oppression suppress these "thoughts" and "emotions", and the fact that she only accepted them after his passing, Janie's passivity while in her relationship is exemplified. A rhetorical analysis assignment is to see how an author tries to present his work to a certain group of people. There is present certain meaning in all the texts and it is up to the author to communicate it in the required way. The purpose of this assignment was to review the article and see how the author made use of different strategies. It appears that a major aim that the author had was trying to convince the readers about revenue based financing. The author made use of several strategies as they will be discussed further down. There are many examples of rhetorical writing strategies that an author can use to make the writing all the more powerful. There is a very crucial reason why writers actually go for this sort of writing. The simplest answer would be to have their writing be more powerful and effective on the reader. The document that will be analyzed today is an n article written by Verne Kopytoff. The title of writing basically talks about how revenue-based financing is a good solution for business. The title itself sheds positive light on the article and states that the better the business does, the faster you will pay. The author of the article is Verne Kopytoff who is a technology journalist. He is alum of the San Francisco Chronicle and the New York Times. The article was written on February 05 2013.

For my third writing project, I have decided to create a research proposal, directed at the USC Rossier School of Education in order to get them to accept my dissertation examining the gentrifying effects of neighborhood preference in charter school lottery systems. This proposal is effective because it employs rhetorical strategies appropriate for the target audience – in this case, a committee of professors that are knowledgeable about the subject of the proposed dissertation. These rhetorical strategies include the structure of the document, stylistic choices such as academic diction and tone, and the choices regarding the content of the proposal.

Daniel Bor, a psychological researcher, and author, wrote an article titled “When Do We Become Truly Conscious” published on September 4, 2012 and in this article he discusses the idea of consciousness. Through use of deductive reasoning Bor refers to early opinions viewing consciousness as magic and discusses the science behind demystifying consciousness. Bor also discusses the ethical arguments behind learning for about consciousness. Bor also lists some of the emotional arguments centered on human awareness. Bor’s use of rhetorical strategies is designed to state his opinion in a simple and easily read way.

Dennis P. Kimbo once said, “Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.” Despite the numerous obstacles of life, people can choose how they react. Today, many people are faced with the obstacle of life threatening diseases. By some diseases being incurable, the cloud of only having so much longer to live hangs over them. As a result, some may choose the option of euthanasia if it is available. In the contrasting pieces of writing, Kara Tippetts use of ethos about euthanasia is more convincing than Brittany Maynard use of logos.

In Bj Gallagher’s article “Donald Trump Is the Epitome of Everything the World Detests -- And Admires -- About America”(Sep.2, 2015), She Implies the positive and negative attributes in Donald Trump, and whether you should vote for him or not. Gallagher first demonstrates by showing the negatives of Donald Trump and his “arrogance” in an article written by Paul Thomas; Gallagher then argued the positive, admirable side of him by comparing his life to one we would all like to live, and to conclude she suggests that Trump is a “fresh breath of air” for millions of Americans by demonstrate that he is unique compared to past presidential leaders. Her purpose is to surpass his brash ego in order to to show he is worth putting your trust in.

In the online article found on the CNN website titled, “U.S gun violence: The story in charts and graphs” the article provides the readers with multiple graphs from bar graphs to pie charts. The graph I will be looking at critically is titled “Firearm background checks by months since 2012.” It’s important to note that this article was written in December of 2015. For this reason, the graph stops on December 2015. Before providing the graph to its readers the author states that the year of 2015 was “was a record year for background checks on guns. Some have pointed out the requests for background checks have gone up after mass shootings, the idea being that shootings cause people to worry about their safety and buy a gun to protect themselves.”

The article states that fear has become a huge deal ever since the presidential elections divided the nation. The American President has bottled up fear within most minorities, especially in African Americans. The article suggests that Donald Trump’s focus was mainly on protecting confederate statues rather than protecting African-Americans and minorities from discrimination and violence.The author seemed to have gathered the information by completing a report on Donald Trump’s speech. The article was meant to be read by minorities who are being ignored by the president and to white Americans. This article is similar to the other article because they both describe the fear that is bottled up inside Americans, whether it is because of threats

Children need guidance to become successful in life. One exceptional man wrote about the wrong type of parenting that causes children to be unproductive. In this article, he talks about how these styles can ruin a child’s life, because they are not being taught to be survive everyday life. Throughout this piece, the audience begins to understand his argument, because he uses many examples and rhetorical questions to persuade the readers. During the reading, he also brings up that severe parents are overprotective, since they think they are helping their children become wise, but they are actually afraid of teaching them about the necessities of the world. Media is everywhere nowadays and is an outlet for everyone and anyone in the world to share their opinions. Opinions are nowhere near being the facts, opinions could very easily be twisted facts. That's why people have to be careful with what they see and hear on media. Although you wouldn't think that a newspaper article would be opinion based, it really is. In any public statement there is a bias and a bias is stemmed from one's opinions. At first glance you may think that the media source is solely facts but when you look back on it and dig deeper you get the sense of bias that an author has with their diction and their use of rhetorical devices.
