Have you ever put your trust in someone, and it seems like they have fail you? How did that make you feel? Do you feel like continuing trusting that person? How hard it is to trust someone, but, continuing to trust them if things didn’t go your way. These questions are based on the story of joseph. Joseph lived in Canaan with his father Jacob and his eleven brothers. Joseph was the youngest son so his father spends more time with him, and he became special to his father. Why joseph brothers were jealous? Because Jacob bought joseph a very special jacket with every color you could think of. Joseph brothers start to talk bad things about him because his relationship he had with his father was getting stronger so they all hate him. How would …show more content…
Would you think it would be hard to trust god when you know he’s the ruler of everything. But instead joseph was mad at god he put all his trust in god thinking everything would be okay. It’s hard to know the persons that supposed to guide and protect you are against you. I would feel hopeless and try to seek love from somewhere else. In mark 3.35 “whoever does gods will is my brothers and sister”. What did you think god reward joseph with? God blessed the house he was in, remember joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. Joseph got promoted in prison and most likely prisoners don’t promotion and else you’re a elder been there for a long …show more content…
Joseph was accused of raped Potiphar’s wife. When you’re in a higher position you don’t expect someone to turn you down. Would you trust the person who accused you of doing something you didn’t do? We are living in a world today where everyone sins, lies and deceived. At this time joseph would be thinking not to trust anyone because his family turn their back against him and leave him to suffer. But instead joseph give up he continue to trust god and god bless him with command over the prison. The gift that god gave joseph he used it to interpreted the dreams of both the cupbearer and the baker. No matter what circumstances or obstacle you face in life always remember there is a god that makes anything possible. When joseph interpreted their dreams they said to joseph no one has ever interpreted pharaoh’s dreams before. What kind of person that tells you joseph his? Being held in prison for something he didn’t do. Joseph has put is faith into god and relying on him for direction. What did joseph asked the cupbearer for? Joseph asked the cupbearer to remember him, but, he didn’t because everything goes well he would be released from prison. But again someone turn their back against him again if that was the only hope joseph had to get out of prison it wouldn’t
So when Joseph came to them, they took off his beautiful robe and they threw him in an empty well. Then they sold him to people that were going to Egypt. The brothers took the robe and dipped it in animal’s blood and brought it to their father. They told Jacob that an animal killed him. Jacob was really upset. Joseph was now in Egypt working as a slave. He was Potiphar’s helper and made him mandated of everything he owned. Then the Pharaoh sent him to jail. After some time in jail a cupbearer and a baker’s Pharaoh had a dream that he was going to get out of jail soon. Joseph told them to tell the Pharaoh about him but the cupbearer forgot. Two years later the Pharaoh had a dream, but nobody could understand it. Then the cupbearer remembered what Joseph did for him, and Joseph was brought to Pharaoh. Joseph explained him and the Pharaoh believed all that he told him, and put him in charge of all the land of Egypt. People came from all over to buy grain from Joseph, including Joseph's brothers. When his brothers came, Joseph was able to recognize them, but they did not. Joseph told them that he was their brother and even thought they were afraid Joseph was not mad at them because he knew that God had a better plan for him. After it his entire family moved to Egypt
Joseph was often sent out to spy on his brother for their father. He often tattled to his father about their wrongdoings. Joseph had dreams that he shared with his brothers that made them not like him even more. In his dreams, he had power over his entire family. This caused Joseph’s older brothers to hate him so much that they plotted to kill him. Instead of killing him; they beat him and sold him
Later, lost all trust in Joseph and put him in jail after a false accusation
Joseph recounted many lowly beginnings to prove his powerful position was not just handed to him. Biblically, in the book of Genesis, Joseph’s father Jacob favored him out of his 12 sons and gifted him a coat of many colors. Filled with rage and jealousy, Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery. With Godly wisdom, “Due to his ability to interpret Pharaoh’s dream he was made governor of Egypt.” (Gordon)
Joseph learned from his father, Elias’ mistakes in both his community leadership and personal life. This is why he became a more powerful leader, as well as a family member. In the beginning of the novel, Elias is introduced, he was the leader of Waknuk, the community that they lived in. He taught and inspired Joseph to lead the community, but he was also a good example for Joseph to learn how to alter his leadership styles to be more effective, this is why Joseph was a much more strict leader. In the beginning of the novel, there is a jump back in time to explain how Joseph was raised.“Elias had never a moment’s doubt of the proper pattern for his heart. My father’s [Joseph’s] faith was bred into his bones, his principles were his sinews, and both responded to a mind richly stored with examples for the Bible and from Nicholson’s Repentances. In faith father and son, were at one; the difference between them was only in approach, the evangelical flash did not appear in my fathers' eyes; his virtue was more legalistic" (16-17).
However, Joseph instanced that they where spies. They explain that there are actually 12 of them who are all brother from the same father. They all live in Canaan, but the youngest is back home, and the other was no longer with them. Joseph replies, “ This is how I will test your story. One you must go, and get your youngest brother while the rest of you stay here. If you do not return with your brother then I will know you are spies.” He put them in prison for three days. On the third day he said to them, “ I am a God fearing man. If you really are honest men then one of you stay in prison while the rest of you go back to your land with grain. But you must return with your youngest brother. This will show that you are telling the true, and you will not die.” They agreed to his terms. Joseph chose Simeon to stay behind while the rest return home. Secretly, Joseph told his servants that while they are filling up his brothers sack with grain to also return their money. On their way home, they stopped for the night to rest. One of the brothers opened his sack to feed his donkey, and found that his money was laying on the grain. They all looked at each other with
After Joseph was sold into slavery, he earned the respect of his owner, Potiphar and was given great privileges, but Potiphar’s wife betrayed him and he was thrown into prison. Joseph earned the respect of the prison guards, and became a leader of the prisoners. Even though he was forgotten about in prison for 20 years, he kept to his faith and true to his
In prison, Joseph by God’s gift, interpreted the cup-bearer’s dream, who later was release and restored to his former position with Pharaoh. Joseph asks the cup-bearer to remember him when things go well for him with Pharaoh, but then he forgot about him. Two years passed, and Pharaoh had a disturbing dream that no magician or wise me from Egypt could interpret for him, so the chief cup-bearer remembered Joseph. Immediately, Joseph was brought to Pharaoh by the cup-bearer’s recommendation to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams. Joseph interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams and also suggested a well-thought-out plan on how to deal with the situation that was about to come.
Joseph was the first born child of Rachel and because he was born to Jacob in his old age, Jacob loved Joseph more than his other sons and made Joseph a richly ornamented robe, therefore Joseph’s brothers hated him and could not speak a kind word to him. Joseph also had dreams that indicated that he would reign over his brothers and this caused more hatred toward him. His brothers were jealous of the love that he received from their father and because of his dreams. Consequently, Joseph’s brothers plotted to kill him but instead they sold him to some Ishmaelites that were passing through to Egypt.
A part in this story that I liked was when Joseph said” I trust my father” and then Gord says “you do?” and then Joseph responds “Yeah I trust him to always do the wrong thing. He doesn't know it, but he's my guide. I had a thing but he does and do the exact opposite. In a situation like this how should Gord have answered? The way he did was wise and intelligent. He said “Well, you can learn almost as much from bad examples as you can from good ones.” This shows you that God has a lot of experience with these types of circumstances and is always worrying about the mental welfare of the
“…Showed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison” (Genesis 39, page 68). During the time Joseph was in prison, he encountered two other people, the King of Egypt’s chief baker and his wine taster. One day Joseph perceived that they both looked somber. The responded to Joseph questioning their somberness, and said, “We both had dreams last night, but there is no one here to tell us what they mean” (Genesis 40, Paraphrased, page 37). Joseph was capable of interpreting what each of their dreams represented.
He lived in Potiphar’s house and directed both Potiphar’s household and his fields. But the story of his temptation by Potiphar’s wife clearly shows that Joseph never forgot that all these things belonged to his master and that there were limits to what he could do. He could enjoy the fruits of his labor as long as his master was pleased with his stewardship, and as long as he did not sin against Potiphar.
Joseph, Mordecai, Esther, and Daniel all had the courage to remain faithful to God even though they were threatened and punished. Mordecai and Daniel reminded me of Joseph because all three of them had dreams which could be interpreted as to what will happen in their future. Joseph as well as Esther, Mordecai, and Daniel all rose to a position of power in a foreign government. Joseph was his father Jacob’s favorite son, just as Ahasuerus loved Esther more than all of the other women who wanted to be Queen. Daniel also was the favorite of King Baltassar. He meant more to King Baltassar than of the friends of the King. Jacob’s father gave him a gift and authority over his brothers. This caused Joseph’s brothers to hate him. Joseph experienced
There are thousands of stories in the Bible, but one stands out in particular; the story of Joseph. The Hebrew meaning of the name Joseph is “may Jehovah add, give increase.”1 Through the life of Joseph we see God add meaning and purpose to his life, just as God adds meaning and purpose to all our lives. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”2 Joseph obediently followed God’s plans through trials and tribulations whereas many other figures in the Old Testament faltered in their faith. Joseph, son of Jacob, is the single most important human being in the Old Testament because of his impeccable faith to the one true God and his story of forgiveness that set the stage for God’s chosen people.
Before they left, Joseph loaded their donkeys with grain and returned the silver they brought to buy the grain. Joseph hid their money in their packs with the grain. When they found the money in their sacks, the brothers were afraid that this was somehow going to get them into trouble. They told their father what happened but Jacob, refused to let Benjamin go to Egypt, even though Simeon was in prison. After two years, they ran out of food and Jacob need more food to feed his family because five years of famine left. Therefore, Jacob told his sons to go back to Egypt to buy more food but, Judah reminded Jacob that the man in charge of Egypt wanted to meet Benjamin. To calm Jacob’s fear, Judah promised to keep Benjamin safe no matter what. Finally, Jacob agreed to let Benjamin go with his brothers. Jacob told his sons to take gifts to the man in Egypt. The brothers took gifts and they took money to buy more food, and they took the money that had returned to them when they tried to buy grain the first time. Joseph treated them well upon their return with Benjamin and Joseph treated Benjamin with special favor. Joseph
