Watching someone being shot to death by the enemy is what the Army experiences often. Enlisting in the Army is a dauntless action. Men and women can enlist in the Army once they reach the age of 18. After turning 18, by law all men must enlist into the Selective Services. Enlisting in the Selective Services, does not mean that one is joining the military (present participle phrase). Simply, it is to reassure the government that if America needs soldiers that there are men on standby. To be in the military men and women have to go through training. Training can be a series of challenging physical and mental tests. If one does not meet the requirements, they could be asked to leave. However, after being accepted some men and women find out that they are not cut out for the military. Julius Caesar is a well-known historical figure. To be known as one of the greatest military leaders, is a great accomplishment for Caesar. He is credited with building the base of the Roman Empire. At the young age of sixteen Caesar’s father passed away (Mark). Because he did not want to care for his family, he joined the Army leaving them with no support. This quote has an influential and deep denotation. The Army would not want the people who are going to hide at the sight of battle; they want the people who are willing to die on the battlefield, with honor. To find people who are willing to sacrifice their life to better another’s is difficult. Most people think that being in the Army is just shooting a gun. Being a solider is not a simply task.
