Jupiter Aus Die Planeten Op. 32 composed by Gustav Holst is a very powerful composition. This piece is consisted of woodwinds, brass, percussion and strings. The Planets transport listeners into a universe of mystery and fascination. As it starts it makes people think of every space based show they have ever watched. The experience is like going through space on a spaceship in shows like Star Wars and star trek. It as the song progressed it felt as though there was a battle in space. Listening to The Planets while in the dark illuminates the mind to the sun, asteroids, planets, moons and other stars. I can see asteroids flying by me as I close my eyes and try to imagine. Gustav Holst was born Gustavus Theodore von Holst in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire,
In “Orbiting Jupiter” written by Gary Schmidt, we can learn many things from Joseph’s journey. Most importantly, to honor the ones we love. In this story, the main character Joseph becomes a foster after almost killing a teacher. After becoming part of Jack’s family, he reveals that he had a girlfriend he loved very much at age thirteen, Madeline. Also, Joseph has a daughter, Jupiter whom he has never seen before.
In the book “Orbiting Jupiter” by Gary D. Schmidt, there are many literary elements that are displayed throughout the book. The main character, Joseph, is a very quiet, and an independent character. He also keeps to himself and in extremely personal. Additionally, he does not show a lot emotions towards others, and he choices to keep his thoughts to himself. Through the book, there are many themes and universals truths that are displayed. The deeper the reader gets into the book, the more they find out about Joseph and why he acts like he does. The universal truth is to not judge a person based on there cover. Base people on what they are like on the inside, not the outside. Before the situation and complications that occurred with Madeleine, Joseph was a
The Venus of Willendorf was believed to be created 25,000 years ago, is none-freestanding sculpture and is sculpted out of oolitic limestone. The subject matter I believe it to convey a fertility figure for men and woman to gaze upon. The Venus of Willendorf is a none-freestanding female nude stature, which is an 11 centimeters high, made out of oolitic limestone and now resides in Naturhistorisches Museum. She was found in 1908 in Austria in a village called Willendorf. This small oolitic limestone figure representing a woman in the nude is believed to be created 25,000 years ago. The stature has been carved out of oolitic limestone and has been given a red ochre tint. I believe that Venus of Willendorf was created to represent fertility in
Io is the innermost of the four Galilean moons of Jupiter. It is the third largest moon of Jupiter out of the 67 known moons. Io is the most geologically active object in our solar system with over 400 active volcanoes. Because of the activity of volcanoes Io's atmosphere is mostly made up of sulphur dioxide (SO2). As Io intersects Jupiter's orbits, Jupiter's magnetic field converts Io into an electric generator, as the massive planet rotates a ton of Io's material is stripped away. But, this does not affect the moon, because of the heavy activity of volcanoes the molten lava which is spewed all over the planet cools and becomes a solid. Craters in the planet are filled and soon become lava lakes before becoming a solid once again. Io surface
Thursday is a Jupiter day, Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest planet in the Solar System, Thursday's are also known as "Thor's day" the Norse god of thunder. He was the God of the Peasants or the poor people, Thor is represented riding a chariot drawn by goats and wielding the hammer, Thor hurled thunderbolts when enraged. He also wore a magic belt which increased his strength the more he pulled it in. Jupiter is depicted as the chief god of sky and thunder who maintained his power with his thunderbolt. Thor was protector for gods and humans. Jupiter is usually thought to have originated as a sky god. Jupiter was not only the great protecting deity of the race but also one whose worship embodied a distinct moral conception.
The first movement is “Mars, the Bringer of War.” It begins moderately quiet with mainly percussion and strings attacking the ostinato in a march like 5/4 meter. Brass begins to crescendo its way in before the terraced dynamics of the upper woodwinds begin. It is a moderately fast piece. The main goal of the piece is to create a war-like sound. The beginning creates a sound that feels like troops are gathering and it continues until both sides attack, recuperate, and attack again with full force (during the coda). The tenor tuba carries the melody while the march-like rhythm keeps reappearing. As the piece

What do you think we would do if someone from anther planet landed in the U.S and claimed it as his territory because he had discovered it? How would you feel about this?
Johannes Kepler was born in a small town in Germany during the late sixteenth century. His discoveries helped change the world and influence people such as Isaac Newton who actually derived his universal law of gravitation from Kepler’s Laws. Kepler learned many things such as what causes the oceans tides and had his own version of Fermat’s Last Theorem called Kepler’s Last Theorem. Kepler even proved logarithms and developed volumes of solids by revolution which contributed to calculus. Kepler is probably most noted, however, for formulated his three laws of planetary motion.
Have you ever done something in the past that only impacted you n in the future? The book “Orbiting Jupiter” by Gary Schmidt delivers the shattering story of Joseph, a father at thirteen, who has never seen his daughter Jupiter. After spending time in a juvenile facility, he's placed with a foster family on a farm in rural Maine. This is due to Joseph attacking and almost killing a teacher. When he was interrogated, he claimed that he was drugged, and his mind flew somewhere else at the time and he wasn’t in control of his actions. Although this was confirmed, he was still sent to a juvenile facility due to safety concerns. When the facility released him, he was sent to a foster home because of the abuse he suffered from his dad. Not only did the foster family look after him, they taught him family values and played a huge role in Josephs recovery. Throughout the story, the characters in Orbiting Jupiter
Jupiter Research Jupiter is the fifth and largest planet in our solar system. This gas giant has a thick atmosphere, 17 moons, and a dark, barely-visible ring. Its most prominent features are bands across its latitudes and a great red spot, (which is a storm). Jupiter is composed mostly of gas.
The musical composition of The Planets By Gustav Holst is composed of many different sections of music. In particular, the first two sections of The Planets, Mars: Bringer of War and Venus: Bringer of Peace are alike and unalike in many ways. The composer creates a warlike tone with the composition of Mars whereas, Venus has a more peaceful tone. The composition of Mars has bolder notes and a faster tempo than Venus. The instruments play different notes and pitches in both compositions, therefore creating two different dynamics of music. In Mars trumpets, timpani, trombone, tuba, and the french horn is what makes the harmony of the work very different from that of Venus. The rhythm of War is also louder and faster than Venus, this creates a
19th century French painter Gustave Moreau was an artist highly regarded for his intricate use of images based on myth and legends to create very symbolic and often haunting paintings. Moreau was quoted saying: “I love my art so much that I shall only be happy when I can practice it for myself alone.” In a time when many artists choose to paint classical mythological subjects as if it were a proper education in Greek and Latin, Moreau was developing his own unusual and personal interpretations using a classical subject matter as his tool for artistic expression. This is very much the case in his painting of Jupiter and Semele (1894-5) in which Moreau explores classical myth in a very personal and
Jove, Jowisz, the gas planet, the stormy planet, whatever you call it, these are all names for the biggest planet in our solar system, the fifth planet from the sun, Jupiter. The Romans named this planet after their god of the sky and thunder. This planet has 318 times as much mass as the earth, and its diameter is 11 times the earth’s diameter. Since this planet is the fastest spinning (rotates in less than 10 hours), it is flattened at the poles and it is bulged at its equator. One Jovian year (the time it takes to orbit the sun), take 11.9 earth years!
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and by far the largest mass object in the solar system of all the other planets. Jupiter is twice the size of all the other planets combined. It is as 318 times the sizes of earth. The distance that Jupiter orbits the sun is 778,330,000 km (Gallant pp154). The diameter is 142,984 km and the mass that it has is 1.900e27 kg. Jupiter is the fourth brightest object in the sky after the Sun, the Moon and Venus. Mars is some times brighter. Galileo discovered Jupiter in 1610(Gallant); another interesting fact is that Jupiter has 4 large moons. Which are known as the Galilean moons. They were named Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. The first mission that went to Jupiter was Pioneer 10 in 1973 and later
