Jurassic World kept on rolling over the weekend, taking a giant bite of Disney in the process - ultimately securing back-to-back box office victories...
After a record breaking debut last weekend, on both the domestic and global front, Jurassic World retained the coveted top spot at the busy box office, gobbling-up a thunderous $102 million. It’s taken a mere 10 days for the Jurassic Park sequel to gallop past the $700 million worldwide threshold – currently standing pat with $713.8 million. The film will also cross the $400 million domestic mark in the next few days – and in doing so, it will also surpass Jurassic Park’s lifetime domestic earning of $402.4 million.

The film, which boasts a mind-blowing 98% fresh rating over at RottenTomatoes, is officially the second highest opening from Pixar, though still well below that $110.3 million total established by 2010’s Toy Story 3. Tack-on an additional $41 million for foreign markets, and that brings Inside Out’s 3-day total to a quick $132 million, worldwide.
Way off in a distant third was the well-received Melissa McCarthy comedy, Spy – adding $10.5 million to its totals. The film, also starring Jason Statham, has collected $74.3 million on the domestic front, which was enough to reclaim its original production budget of $65 million. An additional $56.5 million from foreign markets brings Spy’s worldwide total to $130.8 million – making it a summer success story.
Slipping one spot from third to fourth is the disaster flick, San Andreas – grabbing $8.2 million. Much like Spy, San Andreas is also a summer success story, as well – having grossed a towering $414.2 million, worldwide ($132.2 domestically).
