The general argument made by the author Justin Gills in his work, “Climate Change Is Complex. Here Are Some Answers to Your Questions”, is that something has to be done about our climate and the vile weather we have had. More specifically, Gills argues that humans are mainly responsible for our climate disaster. He writes, “Hard evidence, including studies that use radioactivity to distinguish industrial emissions from natural emissions, shows that the extra gas is coming from human activity[;]Carbon dioxide levels rose and fell naturally in the long-ago past, but those changes took thousands of years. Geologists say that humans are now pumping the gas into the air much faster than nature has ever done” (Para. 4 Pg.1). In this passage, Gills
The sudden surge in greenhouse gases has caused a chain reaction of unpleasant events. As frozen tundras melt due to the increase of temperature, methane trapped beneath the surface is released into the atmosphere. However, humans are the biggest suspect of this global change. We burn hundreds of thousands tons of fossil fuels everyday. Even if we stopped emitting these gases, this trend would continue. If not regulated, we will be unable to eventually stop the bowling ball of global warming as it hammers towards
Although upon by most American citizens, racial discrimination still exist within the land of the free and the home of the brave. Racism is an umbrella term and denotes.discrimination based on not only race, but also culture, economic power. Increasing intercultural and interracial communication and collaboration in a globalized World will hasten the end of racism across the globe. In today's world, the American Still has barriers to overcome in the matter of racial equality. The Americans are working In discrimination because one condition is that it leads to depression, and a lack of Self confidence and withdraw from work.
We might disagree on the causes of global warming; however, we cannot ignore that it is happening. Although we still experience cold winters, average global temperatures has risen drastically for the past three decades. Polar ice caps are melting; as a result, sea levels are rising. Scientist predict more extreme weather in the coming decades, in fact, droughts will probably be more common. Also, flooding and tropical temperatures might cause large amounts of methane gases to be released, which could be disastrous for our atmosphere. Climate change may have human causes and also it might be a natural occurrence. Nevertheless, we must find ways to save our planet.
The world is full of strange and unknown wonders. Mankind has always been one to try and take an approach to find answers to such mysteries, except during a time when it became a special part of our own society. These individuals were neglected, mistreated, and forgotten because they were these such things. As a way to try and "solve" these problems the people of victorian England made asylums. Although these weren't the best at first they had many advocates that came along in whom helped and made new laws for their living conditions, and treatment to greatly increase satisfaction of these patients.
I went to the PTA/Carnival meeting at Johnson Street. We began our night in the gym and we had a PTA meeting. The principal had a power point presentation about what the school is going to do this year. They had goals pointed out for the students. Also during this PTA meeting the principal gave out an award for the best teacher of the month. I thought that was a brilliant idea, because now the teachers have something to strive for. After we had the PTA meeting in the gym then all of the parents and children were split up into grades. They had a parent room and then a room for the children. I didn’t go into the parent room but I was in the kid room. We just drew a Lima bean monster. I really didn’t think that was a lot of fun for the children
However, it is the argument that is against human activity being the primary cause of global warming that provides a superior explanation to this currently unknown global phenomena we call global warming. Despite the overbearing support against this argument, there is too much factual evidence about the complexity of the atmosphere and all of its elements that outweigh the predictions being made and then amplified significantly. Using supporting facts leads to a superior argument than using mathematic estimations, which consistently fail to meet their expected results. The changes in climate, including temperature change and rising sea levels, have all been happening for thousands of years providing historical evidence to show this change in climate as a natural occurrence. The most critical aspect of the argument is that rising levels of atmospheric CO2 do not necessarily cause global warming, which contradicts the core thesis of human-caused climate change as stated in a publication made on ProCon.org where the director of Greenpeace International Patrick Moore spoke on the relationship between the CO2 emissions from human activity and global temperature. He states that "there is some correlation, but little evidence, to support a direct causal relationship between CO2 and global temperature through the millennia” (ProCon.org). It is important to acknowledge that regardless what the actual
Al Gore states that he believes humans are the cause of the current climate emergency and the rapid rise of co2 levels in the atmosphere. He believes that we can also be the cure to end
The world has seen a significant amount of change in its weather pattern lately. From the three hurricanes two that hit the United States with so much force and devastation, that produced more than thirty inches of rain at one point, followed by storm surges that wipe out many homes. The tornados and winds in these two hurricanes were so overwhelming for anyone to fathom. To a country that lies in the Atlantic Ocean was hit so hard by a hurricane it was leveled to the ground and probably take a year or longer to get it up and running again. Across Asia the temperatures have been extremely hot for the summer, they have felt the heat, that their drought could be extended into the fall with no relief in sight until fall. The majority of the countries across the world believe that the climate is changing. Most of them want to unite to help slow this process down and try to protect this planet for future generations. Air pollution is the biggest contributor of climate change. We as humans release so much emission into the air that it causes more greenhouse gases. Which makes the pollution worst. What is causing these gases most of the pollution is caused from coal burning and mining. Where every country has become so dependent on these fossil fuels. If the countries could find an alternative for the need to use this resource we would be able to help cut down our greenhouse gases, that is putting our air at so much risk. Just do not blame the coal companies for what they
Aside from the debate regarding whether climate change is happening or not, and whether or not humans are to blame, there is also another debate growing. This one argues whether or not humans can stall or perhaps even prevent the impacts of catastrophic climate change. When it comes to this argument, I believe that we can certainly take some actions to try to minimize the impact these events will have in the future. As far as our current climate goes, however, I believe stalling or preventing it can be trickier since the impact that climate will have now and in the future years will be caused by actions that we already made and we simply cannot undue. In the article “Climate Change,” Jennifer Weeks argues that “the effects of climate change
In recent years, the controversial subject of global warming has been more predominantly brought to our attention. Is the threat of global warming real? Is it man-made or is this just a natural cycle of earth? Does it really affect earth’s inhabitants? Should action be taken against it? If so, what kind and to what extent? It cannot be only a coincidence that the alarmingly rapid climate change coincides perfectly with the increased amount of pollutants that humans release into the environment. The once stable climate has in recent years begun to skyrocket, thus altering the delicate structure of earthly life. This proves to be hazardous to the future of the planet; some people worry that many of the resources the environment provides that
We as a society have reached one of the most crucial time periods in the history of our world. Due to the way we have used the resources on this earth we have created a situation in which our climate is drastically changing. The burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil has caused gases like carbon dioxide to become trapped in the atmosphere causing a natural greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect has caused the earth’s average temperature to rise and has resulted in arctic glaciers melting. These glaciers had gases trapped inside them that are now being released into the atmosphere further raising the earth's temperature. Due to the way we are polluting our air we have caused global warming. This global warming has caused stronger natural disasters such as hurricanes and wildfires putting our society in more danger than ever before.
The issue is simple and rather obvious; climate change is real and a problem. With a changing climate comes rising sea levels, hotter days, and stronger and wilder storms, and long painful droughts. What most people can’t seem to agree on is whether or not human activity is playing some role in it. From media outlets to internet forums, the debate is being fought on all fronts. Most of these arguments, however, are just personal opinions and poorly-made observations from the comfort of a gas-guzzling SUV. Honestly, it doesn’t take a genius to look up a legitimate scientific paper and see the data for yourself. Human activity is influencing the global climate in a negative way, with plenty of evidence to prove it and very little disagreement in the scientific community.
Climate change is a worldwide issue. Not only is firm action and leadership critical in the United States, but also international efforts need to work toward reducing emissions. Strong public demand for climate change is crucial to enact effective global warming solutions for the future. Unless immediate action is taken, climate change will continue to escalate and continue to affect the entire planet. Ways nations and individuals can help repair the earth's atmosphere is reduce air pollution, use green energy, stop deforestation. Reducing air pollution could have a dramatic effect on climate change. Humans could impact this reduction by simple things such as conserving
Most of the blame for climate change over the years especially after the 1850’s has been placed on humans. As long as modern humans have roamed the earth, they have been upsetting the natural balance of the earth. People have did this by clearing areas of land, killing animals, polluting water, etc. Before the “modern human”, people like the Native Americans cared for the earth. They respected the land and the people that cared for it. Unfortunately, people don’t care anymore. Until recently, people did not care for the earth. People did not realize the harm they were causing it. Now we know how detrimental things are that we continue to do and used to do.
Climate change has become one of the most hotly debated topics in the world of politics in recent years. It is an issue that if not addressed by the global community could lead to a much harsher world for our descendants. One side will argue that climate change is merely a natural process that our planet goes through over time, and human beings have little to no effect on these atmospheric changes. The other side would argue that through the increased use of fossil fuels (fuels derived from the remains of long dead plants, algae and other organisms compressed over millions of years into coal or oil) in recent decades is the main contributor of carbon dioxide (CO2 a naturally occurring gas vital to life with the ability to absorb and redirect heat from the sun back to the surface of the earth) increases since the start of the industrial revolution.
