The pioneers could trade and be protected. This is what we call forts along the trail. Forts are fortified buildings or a strategic position. But in the days, they were not just used for war and fighting, but some were. One of the more famous forts is Fort Laramie. Growing up in a small town, someone wouldn’t think how much history is in that place. I’m very fortunate enough to live in a remarkable place that has a lot of history behind it. So let’s begin this journey together as we look back into the place that I call home.

As a gateway community to Texas Hill Country and Lake Travis, Lake Pointe is in an ideal location. Just 12 miles west of all the employers, entertainment, and cultural opportunities of downtown Austin, Lake Pointe is a carefully planned community that has just been built in the past 10 years or so. Developed near Highway 71 and Bee Cave Road, Lake Pointe is able to boast a great location as well as homes that are both more spacious and more affordable than many of the properties available within the city boundaries. Lake Pointe has always been popular with families who want plenty of space and clean, safe living while also enjoying all the amenities of Austin. Families also adore the fact that Lake Pointe is part of the prestigious Lake Travis School District.

Wakulla Springs is one of the largest and deepest freshwater springs in the world. The spring flow rate is about two hundred million gallons of water a day. The water flow of the springs develops at the caves of the Florida Aquafers. The water then forms the Wakulla River and flows 9 miles southeast. After flowing 9 miles the Wakulla River joins the St. Marks River. The St. Marks River then empties out into the Gulf of Mexico at the Apalachee Bay. Part of the Wakulla Springs water system is the Wakulla underwater cave system. The Wakulla- Leo Sink cave system is the longest underwater cave system in the United States (Friends of Wakulla Springs).

Six years ago, my family and I went to Turner Falls Park in Davis, Oklahoma. We arrived at the park early in the morning and got ready to go swimming. I went to the restroom and got changed. When we were ready, we left to go swimming we walked on a bridge to get to the swimming area, there was a huge waterfall and we went swimming under it. After that we went to another swimming area that had two big slides, we swam there for about and hour then went to our camping area to eat. The next day we went hiking on trails and also went to a castle that was made of stone. We spent the rest of the day swimming and looking around the park. In the article "Free College? It Doesn’t Fix Everything," Richard V. Reeves (2015) explores insists that making college tuition-free may increase college entrance rates, however, would not increase the number of graduates by significant numbers.In this article, Reeves examines the Kalamazoo Promise, which began in 2006 when anonymous donors made college free for all Highschool graduates in the Kalamazoo, Michigan school district. Since the plan's introduction, more than 35 cities have adopted a similar plan to that of Kalamazoo's. There is much fur trade there and that could boost our economy. Also those greedy French have enough land.We are restricted to the east of the Appalachian Mountains. With that vast land, they still have to take the Ohio River Valley.

Do you know what the definition of Atchafalaya is? It’s a river two hundred and twenty five miles (three hundred and sixty-two kilometers) S Louisiana flowing S into Atchafalaya Bay (inlet of the Gulf of Mexico). IT’s actually pretty interesting. The Atchafalaya is a distributary of the Mississippi. Around the late ninetieth century and early twentieth century a flood happened in Mississippi causing the Atchafalaya River to increase its size of the channel and the carrying capacity. That is until concern started worrying the people because it might capture most of the flow and redirect the Mississippi once again. I chose the city of Kankakee, Illinois not only because I was born and raised here, but because I believe that there is so much potential for change here. Kankakee is a 100% urban city in Illinois and is located 45 minutes from the south side of Chicago. Kankakee has been known to some as a very southern suburb, but it is not. Kankakee is a part of a tri-city area and is not included in the southern suburbs of Chicago. I heard a recording of Jay Leno saying that Kankakee is one of the worst places to live years ago and that lit the fire in me to return and see great things happen here. Kankakee is often talked about in a negative way from the residents and those who visit the area, but I see the potential of this city in its people.

The state named "Oklahoma" is named after a Muskogean Indian word, which originated from the words oklah homma, which translates to English and means red people. During the early 1800's to 1900's, Oklahoma developed greatly. From the first Native Americans, to the first white Americans, they all migrated west for different reasons, until Oklahoma became a state. When they developed a society, their economic practices, which are still used today, shaped the future of Oklahoma.

With the workforce becoming more competitive in today’s economy, the educational requirements have increased. By the year 2020, approximately 65% of all jobs in the United States will require a postsecondary education and/or further training proceeding high school education (“Recovery”). One thing that is not increasing is the rate of college enrollment of students from the Detroit Public Schools or college enrollment in general. There are many factors that contribute to this problem, just as there are also many solutions that may help assuage it. The main reason why students from Detroit Public Schools are not enrolling in postsecondary education institutions has to do with their financial situation.

On the Mississippi River about three hundred miles up from the mouth, there is a navigation lock that allows ship to drop out of the river. In open resistance of nature they can descend as much as thirty-three feet, then go to the west or south. This suggests a relationship between a river and adjacent terrain. Cajun country is the adjacent terrain. The apex of the French Acadian world, forms a triangle in southern Louisiana, its base the Gulf Coast from the mouth of the Mississippi just about to Texas, with its two sides converging up by the lock. Local parishes like Pointe Coupee Parish and Avoyelles Parish, the people of these parishes would call this the apex of the Cajun country. The Atchafalaya River is 137 miles long.

“"Free" is a word with a powerful appeal. And right now it 's being tossed around a lot, followed by another word: "college."” (Kamenetz).The debate surrounding free community college for all is becoming rather controversial. Since there has been no law set in place federally some states are taking aim. Washington has a scholarship program called “Washington Promise” that supports what this act is all for. As the world continues to flatten, it seems the only way to compete in the globalized economy is by higher education. Even though the funding is large, the first two years of community college should be free to all. The Washington Promise, a scholarship program in place to provide scholarships to high school seniors who graduate from a Washington high school, is a way to help students in the Yakima Valley attend college and graduate with an A.A degree which helps stress the importance of liberal arts, and help decrease what Thomas Freidman, the author of The World is Flat, calls the education gap at the bottom.

Today colleges are growing more and more necessary for attaining a solid path towards a successful career, yet the rapidly increasing cost of tuition is driving students away from their dream of attending college, due to the preposterous amount of money that is now being demanded by colleges across the nation and world as a whole. It is sad to see students being turned away from a successful future due to the money-hungry nature of the universities that dot the globe. More and more impossible it is becoming to have a “rags-to-riches” scenario that used to highlight the American Dream, as if a student doesn’t have the riches to afford a higher education and the tuition that is drug upon its coattails, then our society is doomed to be clothed in rags forever, unless major changes are brought about to restructure and end the indefatigable growth of tuition rates across the board.

As the cost of education increases, many students search for assistance to help cover that cost. That form of assistance could come from burdensome financial aid or a scholarship that provides the student with an education free from debt. That’s why I am writing you today Mr. Alan Hall on behalf of the Student Scholarship Committee, bellow we have outlined the (1) the benefits to the student, (2) the benefits to you, and (3) how you can take action to help.
