I believe that would make an outstanding addition to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. and will embody the mission to Achieve and to inspire service in the public's interest. Why Kappa Alpha Psi you ask? I’ve been determined to become something larger than myself, to be better than who I was yesterday. Kappa Alpha Psi will not make me, nor will I make Kappa Alpha Psi, but we will become one, we will become partners and help carry out each other's mission. My life has always been set on overcoming challenging situations. While attending Clark Atlanta University I was removed …show more content…
Through it all, I obtained the ability to overcome any situation at hand, no matter how long it took. I achieved through my obstacles with my school's' motto, “Find a Way or Make One”. During the year of 2009, I joined a step team in high school called the Distinguished Upper-class Kings Empowered through Step (D.U.K.E.S). Growing up in Houston, Texas things are not always as sweet as some would make it seem, especially my particular neighborhood. Even though I had a stepfather, I wouldn’t call him a role model. I have seen the good and the bad from the neighborhood and surrounding areas in Houston. In high school, I never knew what a fraternity was until I got a glimpse of it from the D.U.K.E.S. I remembered our advisor at the time Mrs. Gude had us learn a particular poem. That piece of work was called "Invictus". Learning that poem piece by piece and having to recite it before joining the team made me look deeper into myself at a young age and further into my future. Being a part of that organization kept me out of a lot of trouble and helped me stay
The abiding impression that numerous Pi Nu chapter men of Kappa Alpha Psi have imprinted in my heart with its motto, “achievement in every field of human endeavor,” I wish to obtain membership into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. I am currently a sophomore criminal justice major at University of Maryland Eastern Shore. In addition, my desire to become an active member of your fraternity has been in my heart and mind.
My purpose for applying to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated is to honor God by serving the Black community with my time, gifts and treasures in partnership with educated Men of character. I humbly accept my call to serve and desire to do so through Omega. I have gratefully been the recipient of several Omega Men’s love which has positively influenced my life. Likewise, I desire to give myself for others. I realize that all promotions come from God and therefore I have no perceived notions about how the fraternity can assist me with achieving my career goals because I trust that the principle of ‘reaping and sowing’ will naturally come to pass as I share in service alongside of Omega. More importantly, I desire the development of manhood
I am seeking membership into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated because I want to grow and contribute my time and talent to an illustrious, originating organization. I aspire to be a part of a sisterhood where I can express myself, and have my skills nourished by prospering African –American women. This summer I was involved in a traumatic car accident and survived, tragically two of my dearest friends did not. On the car third spin I squeezed my eyes shut, and braced myself for a collision. Suddenly, the car jolted forward and flipped. At that very moment I realized that I am here for a greater purpose, and vowed to take the necessary steps to fulfill that purpose. God is not finished with me yet, and I do not want to sit on my Lord.
I am genuinely honored to be one of the few students considered for acceptance to the State College Area High School chapter of the National Honor Society. I feel that my hard work and dedication in academics is beginning to show through. Throughout my life, I have shown drive and devotion for everything in which I have been involved, ranging from athletics to academics. My mentality has always been focused on helping others. For this reason, I aspire to become an orthopedic surgeon so that my career will evolve around helping others to get the most out of their lives. My summer will be spent volunteering at Phoenix Rehab for fourteen hours each week as it will allow me to begin providing care to the community. Currently holding an unweighted
As a freshman at the University of Maryland, I am pursuing a Masters degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Cyber Security. I formerly attended the Academy of Health Sciences at Prince George’s Community College, a dual enrollment program in which I graduated with my High school diploma and an Associates of Arts degree in General Studies. Having a unique experience by attending these different school has allowed me to become familiar with technical communication in a multitude of ways, whether it is in the work place or school related. Being vice president of the national honor society, being a barista at Peet’s coffee shop, and with being fluent in multiple languages I have used technical communication to encourage people to “take action” in a multitude of ways. Whether it was influencing people to join the national honors society or trying to get customers to buy a new coffee drink, I have consistently been able to encourage others to “take action” with whatever it may be. Over time I have learned the do’s and don’ts of being a technical communicator, and I now understand what must be done to accomplish a task through technical communication.
I want to join Kappa Alpha Order to grow as an individual, to create a bond with a group of men that will support me for life, and to have the best four years a man could ask for. Although the difference between an Order and a Fraternity defines that my pledge class and I already display Kappa Alpha values I strongly believe that
I am serious about being in one of our nation’s most respectable sorority within the National Pan-Hellenic Council. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated gives me the opportunity to
Members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated have made everlasting effects on my life. Having mentors in this fraternity allowed me to see how every member feels responsible for improving the communities that they are from. They never hesitate to take the leadership roles that are needed to see change. I would like to become a member of Alpha Phi Alpha because it would allow us to share a brotherhood with great men, it will allow me to make valuable connections with other positive men around the world, and it will help me become the best version of myself. My desire to become a member of this fraternity began my freshmen year after I attended the first informational meeting. At this meeting I was able to speak with members and also learn from them. They each have strong leadership characteristics that allow them to serve on executive boards across campus and they all are high achieving students at Cornell.
Men of Alpha Phi Alpha such as James Felton and Vaun Davis are key to why I want to pursue my aspirations of someday becoming a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity incorporated. Both James and Vaun’s unselfishness has allowed me to grow as a leader and also into a man. These role models have opened numerous doors for me that have resulted into various benefits and opportunities. I hope my encounters with great Alpha Men such as James Felton and Vaun Davis will allow me the opportunity of joining the highly respected brotherhood. Another abundant encounter that I have experienced with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, is the true meaning and display of brotherhood. For years I have watched the interactions and connections of men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated I have noticed that each member that I have encountered expresses and implements the true meaning of brotherhood. I profoundly believe in the bond of brotherhood and fraternity. In my belief, if granted the chance to uphold the unbreakable bond such as the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, the bond would enhance my credentials while assisting and challenging others. The brotherhood would push me to
I’ve taken the lessons I’ve learned whether they were explicitly from Xavier and Delvin or from simply observing an Alpha Man with me when I joined my first organization Generation of Educated Men (GEM) a community service based organization where I currently serve as Mr. GEM. No matter how long ago I learned those lessons they still resonate with me just as strong if not stronger, this is shown through my most recent accomplishment of becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity. I am thankful for the guidance that I have received from the Men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated both intentional and unintentional, and if I am perchance selected to start the process of becoming a Man of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated I will continue to remember where I have come from and remember how two men helped me change my life and in turn helping me to make it this far, and how one day I would like to be the Xavier Robinson and Delvin Woodard who helped change the life of a young Tarvaris
I’m currently seeking membership in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, for brotherhood and a friendship, with successful leaders who strive to compel an impact in their communities. Through all my interactions and meeting with members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the features that stood out to me the most that made me personally want to become a member were the friendship they held with each other, and those of similar characteristics. The fact that they were willing to help other men continue to grow and better themselves in any way they could. The men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated that I have met, have pushed myself to become a better man and friend. These bonds have added a value to my life that I am forever grateful for.
Each day I work on molding myself into that idea and I believe that becoming a member of alpha kappa alpha can assist me in my
In 8th grade I joined the REACH program, which was a way to get students actively involved with their community. Every quarter I would go out to an elementary school for community service. I would stay at the school for four hours, working with both the teachers and the students. I worked with Kindergarteners all the way to third graders. I would help tutor the children by teaching them about grammar, spelling, math, time, and much more.
From a time when achievement was rare, and succeeding among minority was minuscule, a sense of order was needed. During this time Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated came into the world, bringing core values and achievement. Within the five objectives Kappa Alpha Psi showcases the distinction of itself from other fraternities. The founding fathers had the desire to shape a unique group personality different from the other greek letter college organizations, around the idea of achievement. When achievement was mainly concerned with improvement of personal status, security, and meeting the demands of everyday living the founders of the fraternity envisioned something bigger. Thus bringing about the Five Objectives that men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated live by and exemplify on a day to day basis showcasing Achievement in every field of human endeavor.
I would love this opportunity to be involved with Phi Theta Kappa This will be an excellent way for me to meet other Phi Theta Kappa members. I can get to know more people in similar situations to my own, I can learn from them, and maybe they can learn from me. As a college student I feel that it is my responsibility to do everything that I can to make the most of all learning experiences, so I can not in good conscience let this chance slip by.
