Kappa Theta Pi's Accomplishments

My interest in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, started a long time ago, in fact when my first interest was peaked I wasn’t even able to pursue my interest as I was still in high school. I was able to participate in several of the “groups” within Alpha Kappa Sorority Inc., such as the “Roses” and the “Pearls”.

The mission of Harvey Mudd College is to “educate engineers, scientists, and mathematicians well versed in all of these areas and in the humanities and the social sciences so that they may assume leadership in their fields with a clear understanding of the impact of their work on society.” The current vision of the college includes a focus on global engagement as well as innovation, leadership and interdisciplinary scholarship.

The specific sorority I want to join is Alpha Gamma Delta. This sorority focuses on keeping their grades up, helping their school become better, and helping out people in general. Being in a sorority helps you meet new friends as well. This sorority was founded on my birthday which is also a very cool fact, and is just another reason I want to join this sorority. Getting accepted into the National Honor Society is my proudest achievements to date, and even though it is not the most outstanding achievement, it was important to me because it transcended academics. To understand why I’m so proud of this achievement, you must first understand the enigmatic segregation that plagues my school. I attend Gaithersburg High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The city of Gaithersburg is known as the most diverse city in the U.S and this diversity is well represented at my school. Unfortunately, the diversity in my school is undermined by segregation between the minority (excluding the Asian students) and the White students (including the Asian students). Definitely the people in it. Once I knew the people in it and once I knew what the fraternity stood for and seeing if it was something I agreed with.

​From a time when achievement was rare, and succeeding among minority was minuscule, a sense of order was needed. During this time Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated came into the world, bringing core values and achievement. Within the five objectives Kappa Alpha Psi showcases the distinction of itself from other fraternities. The founding fathers had the desire to shape a unique group personality different from the other greek letter college organizations, around the idea of achievement. When achievement was mainly concerned with improvement of personal status, security, and meeting the demands of everyday living the founders of the fraternity envisioned something bigger. Thus bringing about the Five Objectives that men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated live by and exemplify on a day to day basis showcasing Achievement in every field of human endeavor.

2. The project will particular focus on women and students entering the program who show great potential. The portal will allow the consortium members to identify students early and to track their academic progress. The consortium to leverage resources is novel and takes an exemplary approach to strengthen engineering courses and career offerings among the member institutions.

In trying to replicate these experiences, I want to continue my path towards computer science at Penn’s School of Engineering; eventually understanding algorithms, data structures, while also learning economics and taking various other classes to prepare myself for starting a business in the future. I also intend to participate in the Penn Apps hackathon, where hundreds of creative minds come together to compete and bring new, innovative ideas to life.

I started to be unsatisfied with the idea that something only had one use. As a result, I’ve developed a passion of making iterations and new solutions using existing objects and drawing connections from different disciplines in order to better old processes. This is a mentality that I am determined to continuously grow and I believe will be one of the strongest suits I could bring to Penn State. I want to challenge myself by constantly immersing myself in fast-paced environments and by keeping an open-minded perspective, I hope to continue discovering novel ways to solve problems previously deemed

I want the well-rounded and comprehensive experience that a college can offer. The majority of universities with comparable engineering programs to Trinity’s tend to isolate their undergraduate engineering students or are simply institutions that specialize in the technologies. And although many schools that do so are renowned, I want to be a part of a community that celebrates well roundedness. I don’t want my college experience to be limited by the logical thinkers in my classrooms, but instead enlightened by the curious and creative minds of english or theatre majors.

I plan to contribute many ideas, work, and support to the Leaders in Engineering Excellence and Diversity Program. The program itself is an opportunity to meet other students in the same field as me who face similar challenges. Not to mention that I find the values of creating a supportive group parallel to my own and would love to contribute.

While this introduction was not extremely riveting due to the constant bombardment of college emails I received every day, it led me to look more into Rice University online. As I read through the website’s information, everything seemed to perfectly align with my version of the ideal university. I wanted a top school for research opportunities and engineering, yet a strong community that could make me happy for four years. My discovery of Rice continued with a virtual tour of campus and browsing through program-specific websites. I became very intrigued by the Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen and Rice’s numerous design teams. Additionally, the residential college system sounded perfect for providing a spirited student body that often is missing in private

There is strength in programming impactful architecture, just as there is in all forms of design. Understanding this responsibility allowed me to consider a new level of intention. Following the summer program, I began attending Columbia University’s seminars, symposiums, lectures, and even Christoph’s critiques. These enabled me to discuss demanding issues with global leaders, professors, and the brightest of grad students. Up until last year I firmly believed that architecture would be my undergraduate pursuit, but thanks to my expanded awareness of the potential with design, I have concluded that are no opportunities grander than a strong foundation in physics and mathematics.

The majority of the junior class truly continues to show their lethargic nature when it comes to researching and preparing for secondary education. However, the ones who do not show this nature always seem truly prepared and organized for anything, especially their future in secondary education. Missouri University of Science and Technology is a well-known and a fantastic choice for any aspiring engineer due to the low costs, extended education in nearly all majors, and the extremely small and inviting location with a student population of nearly nine thousand, and activities in the city that students may partake in, even though the city can be dangerous at times. Other things that this university is popular for its clubs and organization, and the scholarships that this university offers, as well as temporary housing for visiting family or on and off-campus housing for the students themselves.

The next space I joined was Sigma Pi Alpha. In my sorority, I got to relate to other women struggling in this university. I got to talk to my sisters about their journey to get to cal and the difficulties they’ve encountered since getting here. One of my sisters was also doing the math major so we talked about our
