The Artist/Gallery I have chosen to write about is Kathy O’Leary and her studio is located at 208 “C” Street in Old Town Eureka. I’ve chosen to write about her because she is a landscape artist who works in oil and travels around either painting on sight or from a photograph that she has taken herself. Firstly, I'll be talking about how she paints, A series she’s currently working on, and a painting I liked the most. Kathy creates paintings of landscapes that she has seen personally first hand and choses to paint on sight. She’ll either finish the painting on sight or take photos of the sight and do a quick outline of the landscape in tempera paint on paper. She brings back her sketches and photographs back to her studio and finishes the

It seems like Teen Mom 3 and 16 & Pregnant star Mackenzie Mckee's battle with diabetes is getting tougher and tougher for her. The young mom rushed to the hospital after she suffered complications from diabetes and her blood sugar went sky high.
On April 15, 1975, Karen Ann Quinlan, unexpectedly fell to the ground, unconscious, and then slipped into a coma. The doctors could do nothing about her unhealthy state and after a long year Karen’s family decide that they should remove her feeding tubes, a breathing mechanical device, and medical help. The doctors refused to do this because they would get arrested without court permission thus sending the family to court. The family fought over it at court and finally won. Surprisingly, Karen did not die but 10 years later she passed away naturally. The fact that she survived led to many acts of controversy. Was it a good idea to let Karen ann go or should they have kept her on the machines to see what would happen? Through evidence and research,

Lauren Berkowitz is a contemporary installation artist. Installation art can be described as a three-dimensional painting, sculpture, poem, and prose work, which is usually transient and site-specific. This very modern art practise makes Berkowitz’s expression of Australian landscape is completely different to the previous two artists, Glover and Drysdale. Her work is made with an almost obsessive attention to detail after painstaking research and, ultimately, total dedication to the moment of making.

It seemed to amaze her how they could tell her how they did theirs, but wouldn’t teach her how it’s actually done. All her paintings came from her traveling experience. I remember her saying how the clouds looked solid as she looked up and just imagined. She lived until she was 90, she died of old age. I admired the fact where she talked about how early she would wake up and what time she would be back after being out working as an artist because it showed how dedicated she was to her craft. There was a time when her drawings were put up in a museum without her knowing and she found out from someone else and got down to the bottom of
Mia Michaels was born is Coconut Grove, Florida. After she had learned all she could from her family Michaels went on to train in contemporary with Miami Conservatory, Miami Performing Arts Centre, Michigan Interlochen Arts Academy and with the New World School of the arts.
The fact that O’Keefe is famous and there would be more information about her in books is also one of the main reasons I selected her as the artist to work on. I chose to do my project on flowers and not other subjects she is known for painting such as landscapes and bones because I was inspired by the brush strokes she used to create the details of flowers in her paintings. In addition, I like the bright colors she used to paint in. The media that I chose to use was oil paint. Since I have never used oil paint, I wanted to try using a different media before this school year

Lorraine O’Gradys’ unintentionally historic performances, seemingly elevate everyday life to the status of art. In her ‘exhibit’ at the Studio Museum, her work is represented through photographs, in ‘Art is…’. Thirty years ago, O’Grady presented ‘Art is’ in the form of a float in the African American Day Parade right here in Harlem. Performers pranced with empty frames, metaphorically capturing fleeting pictures of the people and places that surrounded the route of the parade. By doing so, the trappings of high art were brought out of the museum, into the street, which promotes a new way people might begin to recognize this new art form in the celebrations of every day life. Now that I have done my research on Ms. Skoglund, I have found an irresistible urge to see her work. One thing I like the most about her artwork is that you never know what you are going to get next. Her creativity is absolutely endless. Life magazine listed her as one the world’s top 100 photographers and she has received numerous achievement awards for her continued superiority in the creative world of art. She joking stated, “I feel I’ve succeeded when a museum guard comes in and stares at my exhibitions”. I feel as though she has succeeded beyond belief and with being 54 years of age, her will and drive to create new ideas is stronger than ever. A columnist from The Cincinnati Enquirer , Owen Findsen, states it best, “Ms. Skoglud is the rarest artist who has found a voice so unique that it needs a category all it’s own.” The only thing that I would like to add to that would be that Sandy Skoglund has become a creative
