You’re in trouble. Word is the Capitol’s furious about you showing them up in the arena. The one thing they can’t stand is being laughed at and they’re the joke of Panem. Your only defence can be you were so madly in love you weren’t responsible for you actions”(Collins 357).
Katniss even played this role to perfection. Some readers of the novel The Hunger Games even started to believe Katniss’ love was true. “But his smile is the same whether in mud or in the Capitol and when I see it, I take about three steps and fling myself into his arms. He rights himself almost losing his balance.
He rights himself and we just cling to each other while the audience goes insane. He’s kissing me an all the time I’m thinking. Do you know how much danger we’re in?”(Collins 361). Katniss was so good at pretending to be in love with Peeta I think she even starts to believe it. This just made the audience believe them more. During the games their act helped them get sponsors and after the games it helped them stay out of trouble with the Capitol. Throughout Katniss’ and Peeta’s whole experience, the citizens of Panem really believe that Katniss and Peeta are star-crossed lovers because of their amazing role play skills.
In conclusion Katniss uses lots of excellent skills to help her win the Hunger Games, such as archery, survival and role-play. Suzanne Collins who wrote The Hunger Games made Katniss a very intelligent girl who has very unique and useful
Katniss is the protagonist of the novel. She is a tough, self-sufficient, extremely loyal girl whose childhood was cut short by responsibility. After her father died, her mother sank into a deep depression, so it was up to Katniss to feed the family. One evening, she was going through others' trash in desperation when Peeta Mellark purposefully burned bread from his family's bakery and gave it to her. She feels like she owes him for that action, because after that she realizes the forest will be how to feed her family. She and her friend Gale regularly hunt wild game and gather food, selling some and keeping some for their families. Katniss dearly loves her younger sister Prim, so much so that she volunteers to go to the Hunger Games in Prim's place. Though Katniss could very easily feel bitter towards her more sheltered sister, instead she is fiercely protective of her. During the Games, this protectiveness transfers to another young tribute named Rue who Katniss grows very close too and mentors as she were an older sister to Rue.
In the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the main character and protagonist is 16 year old Katniss Everdeen, a strong and selfless young woman who is far more mature than her age suggests. As the main provider for her family after her father died, Katniss had to become responsible and resourceful at a young age, which forced her to participate in rebellious behavior in order to keep her family alive. She is an unselfish and protective character, putting herself in danger in order to keep the ones she loves safe, especially for her little sister Primrose. Even after the pain and hardships she has had to go through not only in the games, but in her life, Katniss maintains her
The composer Suzanne Collins of ‘The Hunger Games’ demonstrates that Katniss is a good hero through her courageous qualities. This is evident through this quote “how could I leave prim, who is the only person in the world I am certain I love” (chapter 1 page 11). Katniss demonstrates loving and having lots of courage through volunteering pushing her sister and taking her place proving this is seen through these words “who is the only person in the world I am certain I love”. The effect of emotive language and short sentences making us feel the emotion of katniss like we are there and can hear her. We can hear through these effect s that katniss doesn't think about what going to happen next only caring about prims safety. Throughout this book we can see that katniss has a lot of other qualities.

Katniss is able to overcome this adversity by having strong characteristics like her intelligence, resourcefulness and being courageous, these characteristics will be discussed throughout the essay outlining exactly why these characteristics help katniss in the games.
The Hunger Games was written by Suzanne Collins and published September 14, 2008. The capital of Panem forces 12 districts to select a boy and a girl to fight for death in what is called the hunger games. The main character is Katniss Everdeen. Katniss Everdeen is brave and a smart woman who fits the hero archetype by sacrificing own life for others and by coming up with intelligent ways to overcome trials.
Acquiring the ability to adapt is one of the most vital attributes to surviving in an altered environment. Katniss effectively shows how she has the dexterity to adapt in her home, district 12. District 12 is one of the troublesome places to live, especially where Katniss does, the ‘Seam’ as they have named it. As Katniss is only a sixteen year old girl, she shows her desperation for help after her father was killed in a mining accident. She then must look after her family, as Prim was too young and their mother was slowly spiraling into depression. At this point, Katniss was only eleven years old and began hunting, gathering, cooking, cleaning, selling and
Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire, is a very crucial character of The Hunger Games novel, written by Suzanne Collins. The novel is about Katniss who selflessly volunteers for her sister to compete in the 74th annual Hunger Games for all of Panem to watch. Throughout this novel, this character has so many secrets that she keeps to herself and lies so that no one can know about her. There are 3 distinct traits that she has. One is bravery, willing to act in defiance and not back down when met with a problem.
Katniss Everdeen is one of the best heroes in modern mythology. “Katniss Everdeen. She is the hero we need.” (Kim, Daniel J). Katniss isn’t like other heroes in modern mythology. Heroes today are characterized by their aggression and dominance but not Katniss. Katniss is strong when she has to be, but deep inside she is truly scared. Joseph Cambell’s 17 stages monomyth is able to map out a hero’s journey and express the steps taken to become a hero. Katniss is a highly qualified hero and accomplishes several stages in becoming the true hero she is. She is loyal, but unsure of whether it is egocentric or selflessness. All heroes have self doubts during their journeys. Katniss is a hero because of her ability to love. She incorporates love
The Hunger Games is a series of adventure novels written by Suzanne Collins. The novels are the Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. However, the movie of Mockingjay was split into two parts. In 2015, Mockingjay’s second part came out. As for me, I prefer to watch the first one.
Throughout the training process preceding the Games, both her mentor, Haymitch Abernathy and her designer, Cinna give her advice to make an impression on the crowd. Initially Haymitch was quite hostile towards Katniss and when it came to advice on winning the games he advised sarcastically “here’s some advice, stay alive.” this made Katniss hesitant to taking further guidance from her mentor. Later he gave her helpful direction to which would definitely win one with the crowd, suggesting she and Peeta portray themselves as “The star-crossed lovers.” Even though she did not truly love Peeta, she reluctantly carried this facade right till the end of the Games. Katniss felt a connection with her designer Cinna as soon as she met him as he was the only ‘normal’ person in the Capitol. Feeling comfortable talking to him, she explained that she was finding it difficult to act in a way that was appealing to the audience and Cinna suggested “Why don't you just be yourself.” This reminded Katniss that she did have to be what the Capitol wanted her to be, that she could win their hearts and the Hunger Games by being herself. The ability to go against her own desires to follow the advice of those with more experience than herself helps build her confidence in herself and helps both Peeta and herself to become fan favourite. This helps them to become the victors of the 74th Hunger
The Hunger Games forces them to interact and boosts their relationship into a love for each other. As far as abiding by the game makers rules, Katniss also suffers the consequences of other tributes mistakes and unluckiness. One instance is when she was too close to the edge of the arena, there was a raging forest fire, inserted by the game makers, spreading with flaming balls of fire aimed at Katniss while she ran away. This forced her to move and go somewhere else. At the end of the games Katniss, Peeta, and another tribute named Cato, were fighting for the winner of the Hunger Games.
Katniss' life of survival has been one of amazing order. Her chasing is a representation for this. Talented toxophilite clarify how one must be extreme and loose amid the act of bows and arrows. Such dominance with a bow and bolt takes unbelievable discretion and practice after some time. Yes, Katniss has a couple rash failures when she shoots a bolt through the apple and cuts the table an inch between Haymitch's fingers. Haymitch was a competitor in the hunger games, now he is an instructor, a guide, to future competitors. However, in even these minutes, she utilizes stunning precision and restraint, in spite of her ascent in indignation. “Remember, I tell myself. You’re the hunter now, not them.” (214) Katniss knows that if she lets herself believe that the others have the upper hand, she will be defenseless. She handles herself very solidly, now that she has controlled her any feelings of jealousy or
I learned the true power that lies between the covers of a book when I started reading about Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games trilogy. Her story opened the doors to reading and invited me into fantastic worlds I had never before experienced. Now I will forever love reading and literature and it has positively impacted my vocabulary, the way I view life and my life in general. Katniss Everdeen has proven herself to be a true hero time and time again. She constantly sacrificed for her family, specifically Prim. Even before the Hunger Games series started, from the age of 11, she hunted in the forest for her and her younger sister’s sake. She volunteered for her at the Reaping. She even ended up having children because Peeta desperately wanted
Suzanne Collins, author of the Hunger Game trilogy, introduced a very strong heroine katniss Everdeen. Katniss was taught by her father to hunt, fish, and swim. These skills helped katniss provide for the family after her father’s death as well as survive the arena when she volunteered in her sister’s place during the reaping. Collins develops the theme of rebellion first through katniss’ disregard of the law or rules. “Even though trespassing in the woods is illegal and poaching carries the severest of penalties, more people would risk it if they had weapons.” (pg 9 hunger games) 2016 a year when in the past everyone believed there would be flying cars and no inhuman activity. To much hope for humanity, now a big terrorist group rules over a
