During the first games, Katniss's character slowly evolves into The Hunger Games trilogy. Katniss is very humble and focused. She is all about protecting her family. When she left for the capitol, Katniss goes to say her goodbyes to everyone. Furthermore, Prim makes her promise that she will try hard to win. Katniss tells her mother to watch over Prim despite her mother being very ill and sick. Throughout The Hunger Games she stays focused and attentive. Her mind was only set on protecting her loved ones. Even when Katniss struggled with her individuality, her priorities remained the same, which was protecting her mother, sister and Prim.
It is very obvious that throughout the Hunger Games the main character, Katniss Everdeen, changes drastically. There are many little things that influence her change in character, the main reasons being, when her ally Rue was killed, when its announced that she can work with the male tribute from her district, Peeta, and when she defies the capitol and threatens her life with the berries so that her and Peeta can both win. These reasons are the most important because they cause the most obvious changes in who Katniss is in the arena. When Katniss teams up with the twelve year old girl from District 11, she is constantly reminded of her little sister at home. That she volunteered for at the reaping, so that she would not have to fight.
In the film, The Hunger Games directed by Gary Ross shows the protagonist, Katniss Everdeen as a strong well-skilled District 12’s female tribute who carries hope along to survive in the arena among other tributes to rebel against an oppressive government control. Throughout the film we can see how Katniss gets motivated by her loved ones back at home as well as her District 12’s members. For instance, Katniss’s younger sister, Prim gives strength when she gives the mocking jay pin
Katniss Everdeen is not a normal girl, she is a teenager who had to grow up fast within District Twelve. After losing her father to a mine accident, Katniss had to become an adult and be the sole provider for her family. Her mother detached herself from her role as a parent, which meant Katniss not only had to become the provider but also the nurturer of the family. This gives her the role of being the mother and father to her sister
(Question 2): Katniss Everdeen, the main character / protagonist of The Hunger Games, is brave, resourceful and modest. I chose these words to describe Katniss because she fights for what she believes in while putting herself in harm's way to do it which is showing bravery. She also volunteers to take Prim’s place in the Games, which no one would have done. Then she usually puts her saying she’s “all right” with a bow and arrow + snares and traps which is showing that she is modest, but Peeta interrupts and tells about fills her mentor in on her skills. “ ‘My father buys her squirrels. He always comments on how the arrows never pierce the body. She hits everyone in the eye. It’s the same with the rabbits she sells the butcher. She can even
Katniss Everdeen lives a life that is based on her ability to survive long before she becomes a participant in the Hunger Games. The death of Katniss’s father left Katniss to provide for her mother and her sister, Prim.
This is an excellent book. Rick Yancey, author of the Printz-Honor winning Monstrumologist series and The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp, has delivered a remarkable tale that manages to revitalize the idea of an alien invasion, in which the aliens are brutally efficient without ever apparently leaving their space ship in orbit around the Earth. Thanks to the constant paranoia, the knowledge that no one can be trusted, this book is terrifying on a level that few other novels aimed at teenagers are able to be. Although, admittedly, this book does not have any truly original ideas, all the elements it takes from other novels are pieced together in a way that makes them uniquely its own, and the characters are so strong that you do not care about any
Suzanne Collins demonstrates that the heroine Katniss is a good hero in “The Hunger Games” through bravery, inner strength and compassion. This is expressed through emotive language, repetition and descriptive language.
The settings of the story of Katniss in the Hunger Games heavily affect what Katniss was thinking and doing. 2 setting that I will compare and contrast are the settings of District 12 and the Capitol. I Think that the setting of District 12 really affected how Katniss felt and acted. This is shown in the story when Katniss starts to talk about her father she explains how she has taken his place and feeds her family (Collins,Pages 4-5).
Katniss is very much wealthy and has plenty of food (A LIFETIME) due to her win in the Hunger Games, yet Katniss hunts every day in the woods because she finds the need to provide food for Gale's family. Gale has no time to hunt as because now he works 12 hours a day in the mines following finishing school. Katniss doesn't have much of any bother towards continuing to provide food for Gale's family due to the fact she has nothing to do all day, unlike her old life she had before she won the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games are annual made events held by the Capitol, each 12 districts sends a female and male to the Capitol to fight to the finish.
Katniss was always very close to her little sister Prim. Prim meant the world to her and she always did her best to protect her. Katniss loved Prim so much that she even put her own life before hers when she “stepped up to take Prim’s place”(24) as tribute. Katniss’ father was a very influential on her. He taught her how the woods could provide for her but also that they could be dangerous. Even after he had died he was still important to her. After her dad past, Katniss’ mother became drastically depressed and was unable to provide for her children. Katniss never truly forgave her for abandoning them in their time of need. With her mother in a comatose state Katniss decided she would have to protect and provide for Prim. All the hunting, gathering and buying of tesserae was for Prim’s sake. To keep them out of the community home
Do you think you have what it takes to lead a rebellion? Katniss occasionally breaks rules that the capitol enforces Katniss is a very outgoing character who is resourceful and strong. Sometimes you have to fight to get what you want like what Katniss has to do when she’s in the Hunger Games Katniss is resourceful. The capitol is harsh and cruel and forces the districts to do what they want them to do.
Katniss Everdeen, the main character is seen in an incessant state of anguish, worrying about her beloved younger sister Prim, without the slightest concern for her own welfare, an idiosyncrasy that robustly contradicts with the typical perfect and flawless main character portrayed in almost all action/adventure films. The controversial scene then ends with the fearless Katniss Everdeen taking her sister’s place and volunteering for her in the Hunger Games after she had been conscripted. There are even ceaseless ties made between District 12 and World War II concentration camps ranging from the rag like clothing to the groups of hopeless children with guns aimed at their face, further deliberating Katniss’s initial mother like and selfish instincts when preferring to worry about her sister in an environment that can be related to a significant historical atrocity. As a set-up for the rest of the film, this sequence plays an important role in constructing the underlying theme of the film as a whole. The fact that Katniss finds her own empathy, sense of caring and compassion and her journey of going from a un-trusting and instinctive girl to a strong moraled, selfless woman that would rather die than take an innocent human life. An

Katniss is able to overcome this adversity by having strong characteristics like her intelligence, resourcefulness and being courageous, these characteristics will be discussed throughout the essay outlining exactly why these characteristics help katniss in the games.
Like in any typical hero movie, there is a call that the protagonist has to answer. In The Hunger Games, Katniss hears her calling when her sister, Prim is drawn to participate in the Hunger games. Knowing that Prim is definitely not a violent person, Katniss 's instincts kick in and she volunteers for her sister without
In the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the main character and protagonist is 16 year old Katniss Everdeen, a strong and selfless young woman who is far more mature than her age suggests. As the main provider for her family after her father died, Katniss had to become responsible and resourceful at a young age, which forced her to participate in rebellious behavior in order to keep her family alive. She is an unselfish and protective character, putting herself in danger in order to keep the ones she loves safe, especially for her little sister Primrose. Even after the pain and hardships she has had to go through not only in the games, but in her life, Katniss maintains her
