The rate of people living off the street keep increasing, some survived with their newspaper blankets, while some life were taken away by the cold. In this economy, I keep seeing a case of history repeating itself. Optimism and rapid economic growth dominated the 1920s. So much so that this time period gained the nickname of “The Roaring Twenties.” The economy seemed like it would just keep going up and up forever. But then in 1929 it all came crashing down into a depression. In recent years, we experienced this same rapid expansion and contraction. Whenever the economy contracts so suddenly, we experience a rise in depressed behavior. “During the Great Depression in the United States, suicide rates hit a 99-year high (of 17 per 100,000 people)” (Elmhirst 26). When the recession began, suicides went up again. In the time between 2007 and 2008, calls to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

Before the Great Depression started, life was very fun and exciting for my family. My parents had good jobs, and we were doing very well financially. With all the new entertainment we were able to see a movie every once in a while and my family was doing good even with my little sister's asthma. We listened to the radio a lot and got to see some silent movies. We had enough money to get what we needed. My dad had a good job as a factory worker and my mom is a nurse. My parents and my 6 siblings live in New York. Now, my aunt is coming to live with us. But, a lot has changed now. My siblings are too young to understand what is happening and I know a bit about it. But, my community is panicked and many people have lost their jobs including my dad. My parents are saying we might

A lot of times people have issues they can not handle, such as the loss of a loved one, a death in the family or even just lots of stress at work. The main thing to remember is that having depression is normal and you need to make the right choices in getting the help you need to get through your problems. One cause of depression can be any personal problems that you are having in your life such as dealing with a failing relationship, problems with your family life or troubles at your work place. If you find that you are dealing with certain stressful issues you need to find the best way to get through it. Try your best to let these stress filled situations go especially if you don't have any control over them. If you do not let these stress go and they continue to bother you and bring you down you could end up doing harm to your body and mind. Another cause of depression can have a lot to do with your job. If you find yourself having a problem at work with the stuff you are assigned to, or find you are having trouble being around your co-worker, you may find yourself feeling trapped or really down and needing to search out help for your problems. You may find yourself feeling unhappy and stressed out and don't have any clue on how to deal with these problems. Your best bet would be to seek out a professional who you can talk to and share your problems with and he can help you get your life back on

I will end up homeless, alone, and living on the streets. Such thinking reflects a failing of relying on the Lord. Jesus reminds
