In Kentridge’s work History of the Main Complaint, the form of it can be a depressing or serious piece of artwork. I said this because he used charcoal to create his artwork, which is mainly made of black. The artwork also seems to be made up of several lines, for example when the man was sleeping in the hospital bed, there were distinct lines in his suit, and some lines can be seen on his face. The overall design of that piece of artwork is sadness and an animation by how the pictures are animated. An example of this can be when the man is driving and he runs over a person. This creates drama and sadness towards the viewer. It also is animated and made up of many lines. An example of content in Kentridge's work can be sadness because of the emotion I got from viewing his piece of artwork. An example to support that reasoning is when I first saw his artwork, I saw a man lying in a hospital bed with an oxygen mask on. I felt sad and in question of if he is okay. There are animations that change from scene to scene to create transformation. For example, there was a part of his work where a person was driving, and Kentridge portrayed that by having the landscape move behind as when a person drives a car. He also talked in depth about how to make waves look like they are moving. The charcoal helps him achieve that goal by how he said it can be easily erased so you can change what the picture look like quickly. He talked about how he doesn't plan much when making a piece; he makes a whole film within a day. But, when he makes a film, he takes a picture of what he created, and then changes the original piece to make it appear to have an
