There was a clear statement of aims in the paper, which were: to isolate key motivational factors for sustained exercise in phase four CR and to understand if both genders share similar motivational factors for exercise. The researchers successfully carried out a literature review, a key part of the research process, and identified an area lacking research (***Insert reference for research process/literature review***). The particular area identified was motivational factors driving participation in phase 4 CR. The gathered evidence will enable the researchers to gain an understanding of the patient’s motivational factors and be able to tailor treatment based on this. As a result, the findings will be integrated to inform the researcher’s evidence based practice which, in turn, will benefit all future service users of CR (insert evidence based practice reference)

Introduction
Pilates is an exercise programme first created by Joseph Pilates during World War 1. According to Herman (2002), Pilates focuses on training the mind-body connection and focuses on improving muscle strength and flexibility. In addition, Herman (2002) also proposed the benefits of Pilates include: increased flexibility, strength, posture and improved mood. Current research appears to be lacking for the benefits of Pilates in certain groups of people. As a result, Donahoe-Fillmore, Fisher & Brahler (2015) carried out quantitative research to “Understand the Effects of Home-Based
Participant has completed an adult pre-exercise screening assessment, is currently fit and has no history of medical conditions in which to influence the results or compromise wellbeing.
The procedure of selecting the participants was based on their enrolment in movement-based classes and did not use a control group to compare the results. 166 college student participants were recruited in the fall and spring semesters from 6 Pilates, 4 GYROKINESIS, and 2 Taiji quan classes. These classes were either required for the students or electives the students choose to take. This is a problematic selecting procedure because the students
I would incorporate the findings of this study into my future practice by constantly educating my elderly patients about the benefits of exercise as stated in this study. Depending on my patient’s situation, I would figure out different kinds of physical activity pertaining to their disability or needs that they can do without causing harm. I may or may not have patients in senior centers but would always encourage group exercise classes and family involvement in my patient’s activity level whether it be joining them or helping them achieving their goals. Education is key in promoting and encouraging physical activity. I would use my critical thinking skills to develop a plan that is appealing to each of my patients so that they can further better themselves physically and
A limitation of cross sectional studies is that the design is reliant on data which has been collected for other purposes and methods adopted cannot be controlled or changed. Studies analysed in this aimed to find methods of improving physical fitness and counteract inactivity with the use of pedometers and participants were selected via convenience and volunteer sampling (Proença et al, 2012, Zabatiero et al., 2013)).Thus participants who volunteered were most likely to have been physically active, have greater exercise capacity and thus more willing to take part than those who were less physically active. This contradicts this study as researchers are trying to find a full representation of different levels of physical activities and exercise capacity within the elderly population. This is a limitation as it does not provide full representation of elderly population and does not account for those who have been physically fit but less active. As a result, this study lacks internal and external validity as it has poor generalisability and participants are not fully representative of the general elderly
I thought this was a good read with the study showing some great results. Two strengths I thought the study presented were, the methods and measures used and the choice to test two different exercise programs (EXER and STRETCH). I thought it was
This course has provided a new perspective on exercise and behavior adoption for many reasons. The first and prominent realization I had was during the behavior change project. This assignment allowed me to take a step back, and assess where I stand physically and mentally. I noticed that I lacked discipline in my diet and exercise routines. That being said, I did exercise periodically prior to this moment, but I knew that I was capable of accomplishing more and using my time more wisely. The fact that this assignment allowed me to directly apply what we learned in class in my life is appealing to me. There have been many theories and terms that we have covered, but items such as the self-determination theory, social support, and the stimulus-response theory stood out, probably due to incorporating them in my behavior change.
8: relaxtion- pilates exercises our designed to release stress and tension held in the body, especially the shoulders. Pilates allows people to be relaxed yet able to exercise at the same time, so you feel refreshed and energised at the same
The specific hormones that will be measured include estrogen, growth hormone, testosterone, parathyroid hormone, and IGF-I. The method of study involves 20 young females around 25 years old with regular health. These individuals have not had any active exercising in the last six months and also have no health conditions that would skewer the results. Participants were first familiarized with what machines were to be used and the proper form for each type of training. The study focused on eight major muscle groups including “chest press, leg extension, shoulder press, leg curls, latissimus pulldown, leg press, arm curls, and triceps extension. Resistance training consisted of 50–60 min of circuit weight training per day, 3 days a week, for 12 weeks. This training was circularly performed in eight stations and included two to four sets with 8–12 maximal repetitions at 65–80 % of 1-RM [one repetition maximum] in each station” (Moghadasi & Siavashpour, 2013, p. 26). There was a warm up before the exercises started and a small break between each station.
According to Weiten (2004) behavioural modification is a general approach to behavioural change through the application of conditioning, in which behaviour is defined as a product of conditioning, learning and environmental control. Behaviour can be trained to produce a particular behavioural outcomes desired by an individual, valuable in efforts such as enhancing self-control (Weiten & Lloyd, 1994).
All participants in the exercise groups reported favorable subjective responses to the program. The women in the exercise groups experienced more favorable outcomes, particularly those in the high exertion category.
Because of Pilates' low-affect character, medicinal specialists and doctors recommend going to Pilates classes especially to patients who're headed to recovery from back wounds. Whiplash and a few different sorts of games related issues and wounds could be kept away from and furthermore mended since Pilates developments fortify center muscles to guarantee that the body would accomplish more proper stance. This is the reason a few wellness and games symbols revere Pilates,
It has become common to hear about the lack of physical activity that an individual is getting. This lack of physical activity is causing health problems and obesity all around the world. In Brazil, only 3.3% of 11, 033 individuals reported doing the recommended minimum thirty minutes of exercise on five or more days of the week (11). In comparison, a study conducted from 2009 to 2011 showed that 67% of Canadian men and 54% of Canadian women were overweight or obese (1). Aside from health problems, women in both Brazil and Canada are still facing problems entering the sports field.
Unquestionably, physical activity complements the quality of life for an individual, while exercising on a regular basis results in many benefits. Nevertheless despite the great benefit of sport, many experts commonly agree that physical activity may be harmful. One of the unfavourable areas within sport, which is frequently examined by researchers, is exercise addiction. The predominance of exercise addiction is quite rare in reality, but when present conflicting consequences can be calamitous (De Coverley Veale, 1987; Szabo, 2007).
Furthermore, just as there are motivational factors for athletes, and that there are also different attitudes or beliefs that athletes might have towards certain facets, such as doping or wanting to be successful. It is imperative that one understands that those same factors and or facets are quite similar if not identical to the factors and or facets associated with those athletes. Going forward, there will be an in depth examination of the correlation between motivational factors for athletes and those of sport ministries. Sport ministries can be defined as, activity put on by an organization that occurs during a person’s leisure time, that has a specific purpose and or deliberate intention of assisting individuals become conscious of
From the mid 1980’s to present, the wealth of technology and automation has began to take a toll on public health the work and home environments are inundated with technologies that require little to no physical activity such as long commutes, the use of personal computers, television and video games. Today more people work in offices, have longer work hours and are physically inactive. This new environment produces unhealthy and non functional people and increased incidence of injury. Past mandatory activities such as physically educated ar being cut from schools, consequently people are less active and are no longer spending as much of their free time engaged in physical activity. In 1985 the international obesity task force deemed the presidence of obesity an epidemic. Today approx one third of adults are estimated to be obese, this carries over to the adolescent population with 18 percent of adulenance and teenagers considered overweight. When working with todays typical client and athletes health and fitness professionals must take special consideration when designing exercise programmes. An integrated approach should be used to create a safe programme that consider the functional capacity for each individual person. They must address factor such as; appropriate forms of flexibility, increasing strength a neuromuscular control and training in different types of environments. These are the bases for using corrective exercise and the Nasm’s corrective exercise
