The setting throughout the play runs on two locations, the TV studio and the motel room. The TV studio is a depersonalised, formal space shown by the ‘On air’ sign indicating that what is being heard is being recorded and filmed. The interview makes Bridie and Sheila more cautious of what they tend reveal to the public as effective stage directions reveals that Sheila feels nervous and uncomfortable, to share her experiences. On the other hand, the motel generates a different tension as emotional disclosures take place; where their comments are more acrimonious and hurtful. Misto uses the interplay between of these two locales to provide the audience a historical documentation of wartime suffering, through a very personal and emotional story of two women that have kept their experiences a secret for 50

Have you ever wished you could travel to another land like Oz and go on a magical adventure? Well I know for after seeing the Wiz with Diana Ross and Michael Jackson, I sure wanted did. I finally got my wish of traveling to Oz by being in a production of the Wiz in elementary school. Ever since then I have been going to see as many productions of the musical because it is my favorite so why not choose this as one of my third shows to see for class. Wrong!!! To my hearts dismay, I should have relived the glory days of myself. In the production of the Wiz I saw, there were only 30 children so most of them played multiple roles ranging from being a background dancer to the main character. My goal was to focus on the main characters: Dorothy, Scarecrow,

Set in Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire in 1901, an empty stage invites the viewer to use his or her imagination to understand the actions. During the first moments, the paperboy makes his deliveries just as the milkman. Meanwhile, at the two family houses, the women, Mrs. Gibbs who is African-American, prepares the breakfast for her two children, Rebecca and George. Simultaneously, her neighbor, Mrs. Webb is doing the same for her children and at the ring of a bell the children are sent to school. These activities are repeated almost every day in both of the houses. Following, the two neighbors gossip while sitting on Mrs. Webb’s yard and peeling beans. Because the stage is empty, the sound effects play a major part in creating a scene that can be easily understood. The noise of glass bottles when the milkman approaches or the whistles of the train are indispensable additions to the scenes. Every now and then, the stage manager interrupts the action to provide some fact either about the town itself, or about its inhabitants; therefore, she is outside of everything that happens. Still, the stage manager had a few of rolls as a member of the town that helped to support the play. Apparently a small town where everyone knows each other, Mrs. Webb’s daughter and Mrs. Gibbs son begin to show some interest in each other, and end up getting married three years later. The marriage ends with Mrs. Webb’s daughter Emily dying while giving birth to a child, at which point she still figures in the play, but as a spirit. Alongside, there are several other spirits that are shown, like that of he own mother-in-law, for instance. At this point, Emily goes on a self-reflection journey about the meaning of life, and as she goes back to her twelfth birthday, the sight of her family, specially her young mother both hurts her and helps her realize the beauty
The Setting of “Sure Thing” by David Ivis is important in terms of setting the mood as well as the context for the play’s main conflict. “Sure Thing” is set in a café where the the two main characters, Bill and Betty, awkwardly encounter one another. During their encounter, a ring of a bell continues to disrupt their connection. Despite the ringing bell, or because of the ringing bell, the two characters are able to establish a connection. The fact that they are ultimately able to establish a connection suggests many thing about relationships, such as that timing can play a major role in either beginning or not beginning a relationship. For instance, the bell (and the bell’s timing) suggests that
Kim Trong's character is a representation of constancy and dedication. After fifteen years, he still loves Kieu and wishes to marry her. He does not seem to mind that Kieu has had multiple lovers and endured years of hardship that had certainly affected her beauty and personality. The multiple men who married Kieu in order to take advantage of her beauty and talent - including Scholar Ma, So Khanh, and Bac Hanh - represent greed and deceit. Ky Tam, who marries Kieu though he is already married and neglects to tell his first wife about his second wife, represents false love or two-facedness. Though the two enjoyed each other's company, Ky Tam's reluctance to discuss things about Kieu with his other wife hints at his lack of trustworthiness. Because of his deceit, Miss Hoan, his wife, sends men to capture Kieu and she makes the girl her servant while Ky Tam is away. When he returns to Kieu, he is deceived into thinking that she is dead. Upon returning to his wife, he learns the true fate of Kieu. In the end, when brought before Kieu by Tu Hai, Kieu spares Miss Hoan because she is clever, knows the right words to say and because of her compelling argument, ."..what
The Parable of the Talents therefore refers to the metaphor "life is a precious possession." If you have many talents, you must "invest" them wisely--use them as you should use material goods, in a charitable way. If you have a few talents, you must invest them wisely as well. Even if you have only one talent, you must invest it wisely and do good in the world with that talent. In an important way, the play Everyman demonstrates the ways in which a person who does have talents (Good Deeds that are trapped in the ground) wastes them, like the servant who buries his one talent in the ground and is cast into the dark, the "place of wailing and grinding of teeth." According to the play's allegory, what forces in
