Kindle has been one of the most successful product by Amazon. The name Kindle came from the meaning of “light a fire”.The branding consultants Michael Cronan and Karin Hibma who suggested the name felt this was an apt metaphor for reading and intellectual excitement. The Amazon Kindle is a tablet that allows users to shop for, download, browse, and read eBooks, Magazine, newspapers and other digital media via wireless networking. Sales of Kindle and eBooks comprise about 10% of Amazon’s total sales in the year 2012. Kindle and the Ebook has became Amazon’s major drive for growth. There is no doubt that when the first Kindle was introduced to the market on September 19, 2007, it was the only of its kind. The product was priced at US$399, which sold out in just 5 and an half hours after the launch. After seeing the potential of Kindle, Amazon decided to improve on the device and launch upgraded versions to improve for better quality and experience at reading eBooks. Therefore, 9 more enhanced Kindle came to market one after another within the past 7 years. Amazon also made over 3.6 million eBooks available for readers to download in the Kindle store. Coming into the Information Age, Amazon feels there is a need to perfect their Kindle product. And finally, Kindle Fire HDX was created.
