Throughout the week of January 9-13, Mrs. Thompson’s Language Arts classes conducted a Kindness Experiment. Students were asked to complete kind gestures and encourage recipients to pay them forward. This task created a kindness chain that is still going on today. Students and teachers are passing the torch of kindness and doing amazing things. This proves that kindness is contagious! “Kindness is the language in which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” This was written by Mark Twain, a journalist and teacher. Mark is portraying that you should basically treat others the way you want to be treated. These nine words are said and can be heard numerous times per day. Everybody says it, but some don't do it. If everybody did that …show more content…
I am abruptly surprised to see Max’s smiling face everyday. After a long hard practice while we were drinking water all you could hear was “line up in weight class order,” and we all knew it was time for sumo. This was where there was a small circle and you had to push the other person out, and if you won you would keep moving up to the next person and the last man there wins. Everybody was talking and the word quickly spread that we were gonna let Max win. When he got he he pushed the first kid out. He yelled YES, but it was only the beginning. He was finally to the last few people and after he pushed out people with ease everyone would yell. Finally it was Tommy & Max. He had irrefutable determination, like every match and practice he tried his hardest. It wasn't easy for him like it was for others but he put extreme effort into anything we did. Max shook Tommy’s hand and when the whistle blew he rammed his arms into Tommy and he crossed the line. Max threw his hands in the air and was ecstatic, all 50 other wrestlers screamed and huddled around Max. He was the sumo champion. You don't have to do much, even the little things can help people. You don't know what people are going through in their mind and family. If you do one small thing it could change someone's whole day of even week. Think about it or even try it because if you do you can make a huge difference. Make the world a better
George Saunders and David Foster Wallace mention the importance of being kind to one another and the steps necessary in graduation speeches. Both writers state that acting in kindness, ultimately leads to new freedoms and creates an enlightened human being.
The short story"Aha Moment" by Julia Alvarez demonstrates that the point is not to pay back kindness but to pass it on. The story expresses the idea that simple acts of kindness can make a great impact on people both mentally and physically. It can turn frightening and tense situations into assurance and aplomb. In paragraph 8, it is stated," no one screamed,no one panicked. I could hear small pockets of soothing conversation everywhere." By holding the hands and by chatting about everyday life, the passengers emboldened each other and created an optimistic atmosphere. The author points out,"someone was comforting me and kept asking me,'Are you okay?" According to Julia if someone does something good and beneficial for you, you should pass
Justin Trudeau was born on Christmas day. He is strong, athletic and relatable. His extraordinary childhood of privilege was public. As a Prime Minister, he is framed mostly to posse’s youthful charm and traits - the physical acumen, a taste for the rigorous, and the zeal for testing himself. Indeed, his celebrity was a contributing factor and ascension to the office of the prime minister.
Recently, the East Sac County Middle School started a kindness act in an effort to spread kindness. The students have spread kindness throughout their school in a number of ways. One of these efforts include the seventh grade chain of kindness, which is a system where students write down a genuine act of kindness on a paper ring and hang the paper ring on a chain throughout the hall. The 7th grade chain stretched down the entire 7th grade hallway demonstrating the numerous random acts of kindness carried out recently.
It may not seem like one is making a big difference, but even the smallest acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day. In Stave 2 of A Christmas Carol, the Ghost of Christmas Past shows Scrooge how Fezziwig, Scrooge’s old employer, was so kind to his employees. To this act of kindness Scrooge states,”The happiness he gives, is quite as great as if it cost a fortune.” When Scrooge sees how generous his employer was and what a positive impact he made on others by being generous and giving, it leads Scrooge to change his ways and become a nicer person that has a beneficial impact on others. As Morrie said in the article,“Tuesdays With Morrie: The Eighth Tuesday We Talk About Money”, “Devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.” Moreover, caring for others and spreading kindness not only to oneself but also others, whether it be by donating to charity or just plainly going around and doing a good deed for others, is the key to happiness. No matter what it may be, even the smallest movement of giving can make a big difference in someone’s life. Just by putting a smile on someone’s face, a positive impact on the world has been made. Devoting yourself to something and being a better person will help bring accomplishment and joy to life and make a long lasting impact on those around you. This act of being kind and generous to others will have an everlasting positive impact on not only the receiver, but also the
In the text, "Random Acts Of Kindness Defines Who We Really Are," the author is writing to not only inform the reader about what the around a person who might judge you or say something about you that you don't like. The author makes many diverse quotes that has the same effect as the one above throughout the entire text, these types of quotes gives examples for the quote that was stated early. One example from the text states, "Small acts of kindness like leaving a meal for a homeless person or paying off a stranger's layaway balance at Kmart, start trends with more people getting in on the act because they are such feel-good stories." The author uses this effects of being kind are, but also to persuade the reader to be kind and do good deeds
It also means that you do not do things for people in hopes that they will repay you. You do it because it is the right thing and makes you a better person. “A kindness received should be returned with a freer hand.” also means that you should treat people equally. It represents this by you treating people by who they are, not on how much money they make or how many friends they have. This quotes strongest meaning to me is that we all have human decency, so we should use it to be the best person we can be and to be close to
Kindness and peace of mind is easier than most people think it is. There various ways to be happy and to be kind but why does it matter. In the 2005 Kenyon College Commencement Speech by David Foster Wallace, David Foster tries to make his audience to realize that the most obvious facts about life are generally right in front of our faces. David Foster gives his audience an ironic story about two fish swimming by until another fish comes up and says "Morning boys, how's the water?" It isn't after a while that they stop and ask themselves, "what the heck is water". The purpose of the funny ironic story introduced to the audience is to make sure the students sometimes realize the most obvious facts of life.
The experiment starts inside a playroom, participants are boys and girls around 5 years old.
One thing that people today overlook so often is the simple but powerful act of kindness. You can just look at the drivers on the road and tell that kindness is not their first priority. I have discovered that kindness can change the community for the better.
As Albert Schweitzer once said, “Constant kindness can accomplish much.” Kindness is important because it increases morale and makes success more attainable.
I decided to look for another job where I can be more involved with the community, and feel as if I were giving back to them. I slowly started changing for better. I decided that I am going to become a probation officer, my intention is plain and simple, I want to avoid a younger generation into thinking that being in a gang is “cool.” Working with children who have unfortunate lives, I have learn to love and care for them more. There was one day that I told one of them, “If I could, I would adopt you,” and it made sense to me; I no longer have that dream of being married and having a family of my own. I decided that once I have my career, and own a house, I want to adopt children. My intention is to provide a healthy and happy lifestyle for
Blaise Pascal once said,”Kind words do not cost much.Yet they accomplish much”.While words can be good you need to display kindness in your actions. What this mean is that people need to do more kind gestures. Therefore people need to be more nice in general. For example Standing up for people,Being nice to people and helping people.
Like in traditional farming, is there a particular time to sow seeds of kindness? The answer is no, it can start as early as the younger age of infant and toddlers and can go till any age. In fact, I feel that everyone is born with abundance of love, affection, kindness and the quantity starts reducing once we start learning some materialistic realities of life. It’s like the metaphor – there is no such thing as noise, but it is rather absence of peace. There is only peace everywhere on this planet earth if you hear to the nature closely. It’s us who is removing the peace and that is noise. There is no darkness, it is just the absence of light. Unfortunately, we see so much of hatred and violence these days. What is it basically? It is absence of love, which was and is our natural state of human being.
