One reason that being kind is good is that if you are kind it will increase your success and the success of others. In an article called “The Secret of Success? Kindness” Stephen Einhorn who has a MD, PhD, and is chairman of the department of oncology-pathology at the Karolinska Institute of Stockholm says “On the contrary, being kind to our fellow human beings is preconditioned to becoming successful. Goodness and kindness are the single most important factors when it comes to how successful we will be in our lives”(Hill 1)To be successful you must be nice to others or you will not get super far in life. When you are mean and ruthless others will not be happy to do there job and do it poorly but, if you are kind they will show you appreciation …show more content…
In an article titled “5 Side Effects of Kindness on Health” David R. Hamilton who has an honors degree in biological and medical chemistry, and a PhD in organic chemistry states “Acts of kindness are often accompanied by emotional warmth. Emotional warmth produces the hormone, oxytocin, in the brain and throughout the body.” When you are kind it increases the amount of oxytocin in your body so when you are kind it helps you out. Oxytocin is a hormone in your body that helps to protect the heart so when you are kind and you release the hormone oxytocin which in turn protects you. Kindness also slows aging, also on the article it says “Aging on a biochemical level is a combination of many things, but two culprits that speed the process are free Radicals and inflammation, both of which result from making unhealthy lifestyles choices. But, remarkable research now shows that oxytocin (that we produce through emotional warmth) reduces levels of free radicals and inflammation in the cardiovascular system and so slows aging at the source” When you are kind you release oxytocin which is proven to reduces levels of free radicals and inflammation which are known as the 2 main factors about aging. By reducing blood pressure being kind protects your heart, helping you live longer, and slow down aging so in theory kindness is good for the heart. When you are kind to others it will slow down aging and make you have a healthier
It is important to strive for kindness because, it makes people feel appreciated, and it
Kindness is the source of goodness that leads people to true happiness. We help others hoping that it changes their life for the better.
The short story"Aha Moment" by Julia Alvarez demonstrates that the point is not to pay back kindness but to pass it on. The story expresses the idea that simple acts of kindness can make a great impact on people both mentally and physically. It can turn frightening and tense situations into assurance and aplomb. In paragraph 8, it is stated," no one screamed,no one panicked. I could hear small pockets of soothing conversation everywhere." By holding the hands and by chatting about everyday life, the passengers emboldened each other and created an optimistic atmosphere. The author points out,"someone was comforting me and kept asking me,'Are you okay?" According to Julia if someone does something good and beneficial for you, you should pass
Although I would consider myself a decently nice person, I never realized it as much until I received the Kiwanis Award a year ago. There was a whole speech written about my achievements and how fantastic I was and everything. One very prominent part of the speech was how kind I was to others, no matter how badly they talked about others. People saw me as an extremely kind person, which I myself do not exactly believe. But my compassion towards others was strongly emplaced alongside all of my other achievements and was great enough to have me nominated for the Kiwanis
Kindness is the source of goodness that leads people to true happiness. People help others because it makes them feel good, it changes the life of another person, and it's in people good nature to do so. One good reason people help others is to make them feel good. Like in the story The Scarlet Ibis the brother felt good for helping Doodle. Doodle wasn't able to walk, so that meant that meant that his brother had to take him wherever he wanted to go.
Because someone is kind they are willing to sacrifice their comfort over others. Kindness gives them the strength to stand up to evil and in turn bring joy. For example, Colonel Gail Halverson, a pilot during World War II, brought joy to children of the war-ravaged Berlin, Germany. Earning him the nickname of “The Candy Bomber”, he repeatedly dropped, “candy-laden parachutes” (lds.org) over the city. These brought hope and cheer to a people who were desperate.
The documentary “I Am” makes and answered a question, is our greatest strength cooperate or to dominate? “We function better in a state of empathy and love than a state of separation.” I agree to an extent but I also have seen and experiences that people will take advantage of your kindness. With love and empathy you have to use you intellect and judgement so as to not become taking advantage off. Example my mom got a lump sum from social Security and during the same time she got it everyone need help aka a spice of money.
By being shown kindness, I believe they will become jovial and want to share their excitement with even more people. This, in turn, will lead them to show kindness to someone else, creating a ripple effect. For example, complimenting someone on their clothes may cause them to feel loved and compliment someone else. This could leave a lasting impact on their minds and change the way that they view others and themselves. In addition, this could also lead them to finding and accepting Jesus Christ into their lives. While we may never know how much our kindness really meant, if a simple act such as this leads to someone finding the lord and accepting him into their heart then I believe it is worth it. After all, doesn’t God show us kindness every
Integrity it is not just performing an act of kindness, but the morals you stand behind when you do do the act. The level of honesty, the willingness to do what is right and moral commitments all these add up to equal the level of integrity you hold yourself to. I do not think I have performed, the level of integrity that this quote is talking about, but I have
Niceness is something that makes you feel good about yourself, being nice and kind is really good for you as an individual, in fact it 's a very profitable business because it gives you that warm soft feeling all over, of course these positive feelings carry over into all areas of your life causing a general improvement in well-being, what a bonus i would call that!
What is nursing commonly known as? The public often recognizes nursing as women’s work: feminine. As a result of this stereotype, males are discouraged from pursuing a career as a nurse. Ever since the Nightingale era, male nurses have been looked down upon (Hsu, Chen, Yu, & Lou, 2010). There is a great amount of role strain, causing a high turnover rate (two males to one female), leading to healthcare disparity. In today’s era (and prior to), male nurses have historically been stereotyped and discriminated against in the field of nursing.
Overall Goal: To retire in 2044 with my dream home having obtained a position as a CEO within the period 2024-2030.
I do believe that it is sometimes more satisfying being nice to people who don’t deserve it. Being nice creates a positive atmosphere, which can get rid of negative thoughts and behaviors. Emotions could sometimes be contagious, and spreading positivity can impact those are around you, which could be satisfying. Even if I wasn't able to change other peoples feelings; knowing that I was able to keep my composure and be the bigger person, is satisfying. However, I don't believe that treating people nicely will necessarily increase my performance. The only time I think it might affect my performance is when I have nice customers, and I go out of my way to make sure they get what they need.

Treating others with kindness benefits everyone involved. For example, in the story “Angel in Disguise”, the author states "We'll keep her a day or two longer; she is so weak and helpless," said Mrs. Joe Thompson…” She was starting to open up to Maggie and realize that she loves her as if she were her own child. This helps lift Mrs. Thompson’s sprits and shows her that she can feel feelings. This shows how being kind to Maggie made her a more loving person in the end. Additionally, in the article, “Teaching Kindness,” the author states that “As minds and bodies grow, it’s abundantly clear that children require a healthy dose of the warm-and-fuzzies to thrive as healthy, happy, well-rounded individuals.” This is proof that children need kindness
