Different aspects of a person’s psyche determine their learning style, psychological profile, and intelligence. A person’s learning style is found in three distinct categories: Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic/Tactile. Visual Learners depend on learning through seeing where they need to see the concept that they want to grasp. Auditory Learners differ from Visual Learners in that they need to learn through hearing the concept that is being taught to them. Kinesthetic/Tactile Learners need an active learning environment as they are often in need of movement. When a person determines their learning style it assists them in exemplifying theses traits during their study and lecture time in order to succeed in school. The Myers-Briggs type indicator
Once a visual learner sees and understands what is being expected of them to understand, they sometimes will have to write or draw it. If they are writing or taking
Fleming (2005) stated that people can be grouped into four styles of learning: (Gravells, 2012), Visual, Aural, Read / Write and Kinaesthetic (VARK), with Honey and Mumford (1992) suggesting that learners are a...
To travel more smoothly along their educational journey, it is also helpful to students to have a good understanding of their personal learning style. For example, I have discovered that I learn best by reading, audio or demonstrational video. In sitting through a lecture, I find myself easily distracted by the presenter’s mannerism or style. Having good reading resources, listening to recorded lectures, or viewing technical videos allows me to productively maintain my focus. Others may not be as comfortable with reading, and would prefer learning in a live lecture environment. Knowing their learning style and using it to their advantage will provide the student with the assurance that they will learn productively and stay on track with their goals.
From the time of birth, individuals are constantly learning. Individual learning styles vary from person to person. It is essential to the education of the individual to learn the particular style of learning that best serves them. One particular analysis tool is the visual, aural, read/write, kinesthetic or V.A.R.K. tool (VARK, 2011). This tool allows the individual to identify their particular learning style which will better prepare them throughout their education.
After hard work I finally found out I am a kinesthetic, right brained learner. To begin, I used many tools to figure it out including a computer test and survey sheets. My favorite one was the computer test, it said i was a kinesthetic learner. On the characteristic worksheet it stated that I am mostly right brained. That made me confused because for left brain it said, “Good at math” and I’m very good at math. I am right brained because of the way I can be successful. I am better by having a partner to help me work. I always work better with a partner because I can talk through things. I love to learn when I can do it having fun. I can finish work quickly if I focus on the work. If I do my work around tons of noise I can’t do my work. I use
Learning styles describe the way in which an individual or student uses different methods in the way they acquire, scrutinize, understand and remember knowledge or information (Kharb, 2013). The VARK questionnaire is a tool through which one can identify his/her learning style and is based on how individuals interact and respond to their learning environment. After undertaking the questionnaire, the scores for visual learning was 10, kinesthetic was 12, Aural was 10 and read/write was 16. The preferred learning style was, therefore, determined to be Multimodal which means that multiple strategies can be in cooperated to enable sufficient learning. Read/Write had the highest score followed closely by kinesthetic, aural and visual. This implies that the adequate strategy to acquire and convey information or knowledge is through printed or written words. With Kinesthetic having the second highest score, it shows that learning is also adequate through gaining experience and engaging in practical activities or processes that give real-life examples. Visual and Aural strategies had the same score meaning that learning can also be achieved through presentations in visual formats, drawings or diagrams as well as observations and taking of verbal instructions or listening.
There are lots of different ways to teach and the way you teach should depend on the way your students learn. Some children are kinaesthetic learners so they like to learn by doing, this could be by moving around, handling objects and a way to do this is to get them to physically reorder objects which helps set it in their minds. Others like to learn visually. You can watch video clips and maybe a few shows (related to the topic) and ask them to answer questions about what they observe in the video. There are also some kids who are auditory learners who like to learn by listening and taking notes. This could be you standing at the front of the classroom or it could be listening to audio tapes and taking notes down from them.
Hi everyone! My name is Briana and I am an all around learner. I am mostly a Kinesthetic Learner, but also I can learn visually. I am also an auditory learner as long as what I am hearing interests me. Since I was younger, when I had to sit in class against my own will, I always learned better one on one or by doing things myself. If you show me once and let me do it my myself the next time I usually can get it down very quickly. I’ve never been good with lectures, the information hitting my face like water from a water hose is overwhelming and I usually never remember any of it. This always made me angry because that meant I always had to rewrite everything multiple times until it was tattooed in my brain.
whilst others will show just one trait. The four styles of learning in this questionnaire
The information obtained by completing the Learning Style Inventory test was I am a kinesthetic learner (Bethel University, 2013). There are no surprises to the fact I am a kinesthetic learner I found this information out a few years ago going through testing for promotions. There were always issues for me in grade school to middle school with staying with the class and not daydreaming. By the time I got into high school I obtained the ability to use my auditory and visual learning styles to complete high school with decent grades. It is unfortunate that kinesthetic learners do not get the chance to use their interactive style of learning because it not represented in the classroom (Mobley, K., & Fisher, S. 2014). The point being most kinesthetic
All learners have different learning styles. Using materials at the initial stage of the learning process can highlight preferred styles. Honey and Mumford show four learning styles – activists, theorists, reflectors and pragmatists, while VAK highlights visual, auditory and kinaesthetic preferences.
In this paper I will indentify various learning types and personality types. I will also develop strategies for communicating and collaborating effectively within group of people with different learning team learning styles and personality types. There are three basic learning styles. The most common are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. To learn, we depend on our senses to process the information around us. Most people tend to use of their senses more than the others. There are four different personality types are the organizer, adventure, giver, and thinker.
Since kinesthetic style is my favorite way of learning having to take classes on-line to pursuit my degree has made it difficult, because most of the subjects use more of the read/write strategies. I have taken some classes where the subject was not interesting to me at all and it made it more difficult to learn but I know that is a class I need to accomplish my goals I still did my best and gave it 100% to pass and learn and understand the material.
The three major learning styles among others is known as "multiple intelligence," by Howard Gardner. Research shows that measuring intelligence in this way involves using the characteristics of the learning styles in order to come to understand in which areas learners may be skilled in.
