In 1957, Lord Darnley was murdered and Queen Mary was forced to renounce her throne. He made her son King of Scotland. He became the official King of Scotland when he was one year old. James was a devout scholar who studied the English language. The kingdom was strong and centralized during his rule, and he eventually married Anne of Denmark. He was a devout Protestant, and fought against the Puritans who tried to get rid of Roman practices in the church. He was not liked much, because of favoritism, and his schemes to get an alliance with Spain. During his rule, William Ruthven, one of the leaders of the Church of Scotland, kidnapped James, and held him captive for almost a year. When James finally escaped, he did not take any more chances, and executed William. With Queen Elizabeth the First aging, James realized that he had the highest chance of becoming the King. The only problem was that his mother, Mary, was still in live. She was prosecuted, and then executed. Once Elizabeth died, we move onto the chapter of King James’ life. Growing up Martin Luther King. Jr had a happy middle class life, but even with all of this he still noticed social problems. His father was a respected preacher, his mother was a college-educated musician, and his grandmother, who lived with them, was extremely fond of him. He was also close to his older sister and younger brother, who started college at fifteen.
It would a good way to honor Dr. King’s life by spreading his word to others, especially the to the generations to come. A way that we could spread these words is by making it a part of today's literature. Every English class across the country learn at least a little bit of shakespeare in their courses. This should be the same for Dr. King. It should become a part of english teachers requirement to show kids Dr. King and his accomplishments including his writings. This would inform a great population of today’s society helping show what a powerful change this man brought to us.
The author experienced the culture shock all new recruits receive during their initial basic training. James’s physical conditioning prior to enlisting into the Army proved to be a valuable asset, due to the physically demanding rigors associated with military training. The author’s physical presence and life experiences equated to admiration from the younger recruits. Affectionate memories were made teaching the younger recruits exercises and submission holds during down time from training. It was at this point in the author’s life that he knew he wanted a profession in which he could help others. Upon completion of Basic Training, and Advanced Individual training, James saw his parents again, whom he had not seen in several years. The author was pleased to see his ever loving mother who was radiating in pride of her son’s life journey thus far. With maturity comes wisdom, and the importance of education becomes more clear as I look to further my academic career. It is often thrown upon students to study and turn assignments in: students are taught to jump through hoops to earn. As I continue to mature, However, I have realized that there is more to an education than a grade. In fact, the immense number of factors that can go into or come out of academics has greatly impacted the person I have become. For example, I feel as though it is essential to know that I am more than a grade. I am more than a score. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. perceived and portrayed this idea in his famous quote. The weaknesses of the King James version of the Bible were the poetic rhythms make it difficult for people who study the Bible to decipher the true meaning behind the original writer’s words.
