Kit Kirkstone is loyal, courageous, observant. Firstly she shows loyalty in aiding her friend Peter to save the queen from England from murdered. A man named Sir Philip was humiliated by queen, so for revenge he is going to assassinate her during the performance of King Henry III. Kit and Peter go on a journey which can question their loyalty to one another, yet Kit never turns on him. Secondly Kit demonstrates courageousness, most women don’t put up a fight when they are married off to a man. But Kit isn't like ‘most women’, for example she is forced to marry Sir Philip, yet she runs away from her home with few supplies and a dream to join the acting business dressed as a boy, since women aren't allowed to perform since it can get to dangerous.
The story takes place in Eden Mills, Mississauga, Ontario, Eric Walters’ hometown, and it takes place in present time. This is evident by the modern technology seen in the novel, and the lack of any futuristic technology.

Do you think you would survive by yourself in the middle of the woods for 54 days? The question that I asked you is because of the novel Hatchet and this novel is written by Gary Paulsen. Out of all of the things in the story that stood out to me was the AHA moments because I think they help brian the most. The two biggest AHA moments was when he had to put his food up higher and that he can't be lazy.
Lacey Ryan’s perfect life was well underway, until a betrayal blindsides her and changes everything. So the last person she expects to come to her rescue comes crashing back into her life.
The smallest bit of knowledge can greatly influence your chance of survival. This is shown in hatchet, by Gary Paulsen. In Hatchet Brian is a kid who is stranded in the Canadian Wilderness with nothing but a hatchet. Brian has to learn how to make tools, find food, and make a suitable shelter. Brain slowly learns and progresses until he is on top of the food chain. Through the novel, Brian slowly gets stronger physically and mentally, as he rises through the foodchain.
The biggest belief that Chris McCandless has is that trust is essential to have a relationship with someone. This idea became clear to me in chapter twelve when I saw the quote that McCandless had highlighted in his book saying, “Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth. I sat at a table where rich food and wine in abundance, an obsequious attendance, but sincerity and truth were not; and I went away hungry,” and then the author mentions that McCandless wrote the word “truth” at the top of the page (page 117). From the fact that McCandless wrote and highlighted these words means that the quote is important, and the word truth was significant to him. Therefore, I can see that McCandless agrees with this quote and values truth more than any amount of money or love. Truth is something obviously something McCandless cant live without and I think this is because of his relationship with his dad. McCandless’s father wasn’t truthful with his family in chapter twelve when the author said, “Long after falling in love with Billie, long after she gave birth to Chris, Walt continued his relationship with Marcia in secret, dividing his time between two households” (page 121). In this quote we can see that
The knight endangers his manhood accepting Lady Bertilak’s purpose. So, we can say that manhood includes Christian, chivalric and loyal codes that are the cornerstone of a moral value. Moreover, it is normal that men make the first moves but in this case, Lord Bertilak’s wife makes it. As June states “The Lady is the one “making the first move”, so to speak, but it is ultimately Gawain who decides what is to become of those actions” (24). She does it because of her self-confidence and feels herself a superior being to him which was not normal at all in women at that time.
Walter Cunningham is a student in Scout's class at school who is extremely poor, so poor that he cannot afford his ow shoes. The text states in chapter 2, page 25, "Walter's face told everybody in the first grade he had hookworms. His absence of shoes told us how he got them. People caught hookworms by going barefooted in barnyards and hog wallows. " This shows that Walter cannot afford luxuries such as having shoes on your feet or clean clothes on your back.
In Macbeth, Lady Macbeth , Macbeth’s wife, is a very tragic character. She plays a very masculine role, even more masculine than the main male role: “She so dominates the scenes in which
Over the centuries, women’s duties or roles in the home and in the work force have arguably changed for the better. In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen teaches the reader about reputation and loves in the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries by showing how Elizabeth shows up in a muddy dress, declines a marriage proposal and how women have changed over time. Anything a woman does is reflected on her future and how other people look at her. When Elizabeth shows up to the Bingley’s in a muddy dress they categorize her as being low class and unfashionable. Charles Bingley, a rich attractive man, and his sister had a reputation to protect by not letting their brother marry a ‘low class girl’. Reputation even today and back in the nineteenth
She is the most perdurable female figure in King Arthur and his Knights. Without her the suspense and the plot flow could not have been achieved. Her influence has enabled her to penetrate into men’s world a trait that distinguishes her from the rest of the women. Knights are referred to as the queen’s knights. We could say the same of the ladies who accompany the queen and keep the knights in good company (pg.52) .Queen Guinevere, as the King’s wife, is acknowledged by males.
The novel demonstrates both popular and familiar gender roles in the 19th century. Catherine Earnshaw, breaks through the stereotypes, and has a mesh of both feminine and masculine qualities. In the Victorian Era, men are seemed as superior to women. Her gender roles are beyond the social norm, as well as her husband Edgar, who is portrayed as more feminine. Catherine holds many masculine qualities such as being adventurous, extroverted, and determined.
