The mother in “The Other Family”, by Himani Bannerji, has numerous static traits. Perhaps one of her most dominant traits being affection. It is clear various times in the text that she is affectionate when she felt “sorry that she was putting such a heavy burden on such young shoulders” (Bannerji 2). Before, she had also said that she did not want “frighten [her daughter]”(Bannerji 2). She even manifests panic just from thinking of potentially losing her daughter. Her second most evident trait is loneliness. The mother displays loneliness when she sometimes is “unsettled” with the news contained in “letters that [arrived] from home”(Bannerji 1). This could most likely be that the letters may be about certain people or things she misses from
This family is seeking therapy assistance due to the following reasons: grief and loss encountered during Kate’s cancerous condition and after her death, the lawsuit Anna placed onto her parents, Jesse’s delinquent behavior, and the parents’ deteriorating relationship. The family is concerned with the alliances that have been building within the family and in regards to their negative communication skills. The Fitzgerald family feels that the family is becoming dysfunctional and distant. Having a positive attachment amongst each other at all times assists with minimizing issues, and it is much easier to find solutions to any problems or challenges when positive relationships emerge (Cassidy and Shaver, 2008, p. 200). This is why the Fitzgerald family is seeking help now.
The amount someone’s income is related to how much their parent’s make is income heritability. This means that if someone’s parents have a low income, it is likely that they will also have a low income. Income heritability also goes the other way, if someone’s parents have a high income, they are more likely to have a high income as well. This doesn’t always happen, but income heritability refers to the likeliness that this will happen. One example of this concept in Gossip Girl is Chuck Bass. Without going to college, Chuck inherits his father’s company and is set for life in terms of a job and money. Chuck did not have to do any extra work or even work his way up through the company. Because his father was a successful, self-made millionaire, Chuck’s success in his career is almost guaranteed or at least a lot easier to obtain than people who don’t have rich parents. The way this show depicts this character, and his life, is exactly as the target audience, who I would argue
