In “A Foot Ball Life: Kurt Warner”, Kurt Warner demonstrates great leadership throughout the longevity of his career. He uses his great talent, composure, and toughness throughout his career to lead multiple teams to victories. Even though he only won one Super Bowl, the teams that Kurt Warner were on improved significantly during his time with them. Throughout all of this Kurt Warner was the ultimate football player, leader, mentor and friend, a suburb man in every sense of the word.
1.Kurt Warner was able to build teams that achieved their goals through hard work and determination. He demonstrated competent managerial skills by supporting each team he was a part of even when he was not playing. He built teams by understanding each individual

Kurt warner began his professional career with the Rams. Here he spent a lot of time being pushed by the coaches and learning how to play at a professional level. During this time he was definitely not a coach, but could be seen as a mentor later on in his time with the Rams. After he injured his thumb he sat on the bench and had to still support the team. Next he moved to the Giants where he was a mentor to Manning. He was able to help Manning improve his skills and supported Manning even when he lost eight games straight. When Kurt was put in he said that the Giants should put Manning in so he can learn the quick snap. Last when Kurt moved to the Cardinal’s he once again showed more mentoring skills than coaching skills. He was sent to the Cardinals to mentor Matt Leinart, but he also took Fitzgerald under his wing. He mentored both of these players by teaching them the importance of being better than just good enough. While he was a part of the Cardinals the coach made a comment that he did not want to hear from others while he was focused on the game. This shows that he was not a leadership coach. Leadership coaches have to listen to the players to better themselves. Even though Warner was an excellent player and mentor, he lacked the ability to listen to the people bellow him to improve
Even though his head coach Bear Bryant acknowledged Namath 's greatness, Bryant was no coddler, frequently drawing Namath from games after bad performances. Coach Bryant told all of his players that no starting spots were given based on reputation. Bryant had a gaze that was challenging to meet, the penetrating intensity that made a man terrified to look into his eyes directly because it might be defined as a challenge, and afraid to look away because it might be considered as a lack of resolve. There was nothing about Coach Bryant that showed a sign of softness or suggested he couldn 't kick the ass of any man within hollering range. Bear was in a foul state of mind and had been for quite a while.
In conclusion, George Brett harbors many accomplishments under his name due to his dedication and
What do you know about the NFL? This one of the best male sports. A boy named Christian was a senior at Riverview Gardens High School; he played football, and he looked up to Calvin Ridley as a role model. His dream had always been to make it to the NFL, so he worked hard everyday day in and day out to strive for his goal. He was just a young man with a dream to get far with his talent for others to see, not just his brothers and teammates. He lived by a famous quote that says, “It’s not the SIZE of the dog in the fight but the SIZE of fight in the dog.” Hall Of Famer Archie Griffin of the Cincinnati Bengals said this because football is a man’s sport. There were lots of legends created in the history of the game.
“ Don’t walk through life just playing football. Don't walk through life just being a athlete. Athletics will fade. Character and integrity and really making an impact on someone’s life.”
“Brett Favre is one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of professional football. You are judged by winning, and he’s won more games than any other quarterback who has ever played. But I will remember him just as well for being such a fierce competitor and outstanding leader. He was the face of the Packers and a great credit to our game. It was an honor to coach against him.”(Mike Shanahan, Denver Broncos Head Coach) Brett’s passion for the game, and winning history, together earned him the respect of the entire football nation. I am going to give you a summary of this incredible athlete’s life, covering both the ups and downs of his bumpy road to success. I am using factual
Vince McMahon, the owner of the WWFE and XFL showed very few level 5 leadership characteristics. He was very loud and attention-loving, always taking responsibility for the success of his company. He showed very little personal humility or professional will. When creating the XFL, McMahon followed the what first, then who mentality. He created rules, teams, and a general attitude of the league and broadcasts before having any players, coaches, owners, or announcers in place.
Tom Brady was able to go from being an underdog to a champion, become the greatest quarterback to ever live, get past allegations, and become an influence in the 21st century. He was unwanted his whole life, but made his way up to the NFL. Everyone was skeptical of his abilities and if he really cheated, but through all of that he persevered. This is why Tom Brady was an influence in the 21st century not just for athletes but
When asked who is the greatest coach to lead a NFL team to the Super Bowl, Vince Lombardi’s name would be mentioned. He took the worst team in the NFL and transformed them to be the best. His team succeeded to win 6 divisional titles, 5 NFL championships, and 2 back to back Super Bowls. Vince Lombardi was both a visionary and ethical leader by leading his team through a new way of systematic thinking and obstacles. In this essay, I will state claims on how he became a visionary leader. Two core concepts came to play while researching his life. The first was how he displayed inspirational motivation while guiding his players to the Super Bowl and painting a vision. Secondly, he displayed team dimensions by knowing how to balance a team and also earning mutual respect. Later, I will state claims on how he was an ethical leader. First, he used reflective thinking, system 2 in critical thinking by using some decision making no one has ever used to ultimately win the Super Bowl. He also used the Three P’s (principles, purpose, and people) concept in the ethical leadership lesson on how he used those three principles to reach a common goal and display excellence in all we do. Additionally, I will tie his visionary and ethical leadership styles into my personal relevance and use some examples. Finally, I will conclude with a summary of the main points and end with a couple of quotes.
Tom Brady is the greatest football player of all time, or as some call him, “The G.O.A.T.”
While working hard is an important factor in being successful in every sport, it is especially prudent in football. The hype behind the sport causes athletes and communities to love the sport. No other sport has a week like homecoming, football players are put on a pedestal and academics are essentially put on hold due to the lack of focus. The entire week focuses on Friday night’s game. This hype draws the biggest and best athletes to want to be a part of the fun—to be on that pedestal. This in turn makes the competition within the sport better. Being on the team isn’t enough though, as my head coach used to say, “Homecoming is fun, but it’s worth nothing if you lose Friday night.” Knowing the entire week is dedicated to one game causes the team to work harder than the athletes in other sports. The standard expected by the coaches carries over to the classroom and into the athlete’s lives outside of high school. Kevin Kniffin, a behavioral scientist as Cornell University, studies and teaches about the leadership skills and character traits of athletes from
Sports are a significant part of society and spectators enjoy particular events regardless of the type. However, there are many players who develop special working and social relationships with whom they are participating regardless of the type of sport. The relationship and how people interact with one another can be the determination of how successful a team can be. The particular film based on a true story that I chose is titled When the Game Stands Tall. This film consists of a high performing football team of De La Salle High School in the state of California. Jim Caviezel portrays the head coach (Bob Ladouceur) as a man with such vision and passion that goes beyond the fundamental principles of coaching the game of football. The football team had won 151 games without being defeated which is the highest winning record a team has had in the game of football. The film shows the internal struggles of the players in their lives as people, and how they perform on the field. It also shows the external tragic difficulties that they face while they attend and play for De Le Salle High School. In the movie, the head coach helps the students/players by not only coaching them but also showing them how to live a flourishing life by committing to endure difficult life situations and the way to overcome them. He helps teach the principles of brotherhood and companionship with the team that they build. In the movie, the head coach and the staff had taught the players
There are many different styles a leader can possess. Taking a team that is not playing consistently to winning four Stanley Cups requires a leader who has a vision, patience and a desire to succeed. Leadership is often situational, depending on the needs of the team. Sometimes a teammate just needs a pat on the back or positive feedback. At other times a team might just need someone to lead the way or on occasion disciplining. Wayne Gretzky’s style of leadership is democratic. Back in his hockey years, he had a very open, friendly and educational style in the way he captained his teams. All his teammates were considered equal and he was very interested in hearing what people had to say. He needed his teammates to buy into the vision and goal of winning the coveted Stanley Cup. To do this, Wayne often started conversations, encouraging teammates to share their ideas. If there were any issues, the group would get together to talk and then come up with solutions. Gretzky has said that offering verbal support is really appreciated by your teammates (Bernstein, Clarke & Stevens,
In Annabel Lee, Edgar Allan Poe states, “We loved with a love that was more than love.” This saying is used by thousands of people everyday to their soul mate. The American Renaissance, which began in 1828 through 1865. Poe was an Anti-Transcendentalist, he wrote mostly about self-destruction (sin). Edgar Allan Poe enjoyed writing about death, sinful acts, and how others felt towards sin.
For a lot of kids, it’s not until it’s all said and done, and they look back on it several years later, that they realize the difference the sport made in their lives. They are proud of playing the game. Have you ever met anybody who accomplished playing four years of high school football, and at the end of that run said, ‘Man, I wish I wouldn’t have played’? It doesn’t get said. Football players aren’t perfect. Nobody is. But millions of former players, one by one, can recount the life-altering principles they learned from football. They know the value of football is the values in football. That’s why high school football – and particularly high school coaches – play such a vital role in our society. Our football coaches are on the front lines of the battle for the hearts and minds of the boys in our society.
Leadership is respect. Respect by others. You can't force people to respect you; you've got to earn it. A good leader earns respect from his, or her, peers. They know he is their leader and when he tells them to do something, they do it, and they respect his position. A captain deserves respect from his teammates. The respect your team has for you helps drive your team to do their
