Kurt Warner would be rated in the cheerleader quadrant on the scale of managerial incompetence. The season after Super Bowl XXXVI, Kurt injured his hand. He was able to recover but still struggled. In the 2003 Season Opener game Kurt fumbled six times and was benched for Mark Bulger. Even though Kurt was benched he still encouraged the team and kept a positive environment. Kurt worked within this quadrant because even though he wasn't playing he was always supportive of Mark. Kurt would be as excited about Mark as he'd be for himself. Another example is during the 2003 playoffs. The Rams began to fall apart and during this scene #81 Torry Holt became frustrated but Kurt was able to talk him down. The next scene Torry said "Kurt never complained, he was always positive, and always encouraging." Kurt was able to maintain a …show more content…
The final time Kurt displayed he was in the cheerleader quadrant was in 2004. Kurt was drafted by the Giants but was later benched for Eli Manning. Eli Manning had lost 8 games in a row, but Kurt refused to create a quarterback controversy. During the Ravens VS Giants game, the giants switched out Manning for Kurt. Later after the game Kurt said he didn't think that the Giants should turn to him in a relief situation. This showed that even though he was able to play, Kurt still supported Eli Manning when he wasn't at his best. Kurt Warner's 3 significant bases of power are referent, reward, and expert. Kurt's referent power is displayed during the Rams VS Lions game when the team started to fall behind. Throughout the game Kurt took his hits from the defense and his team noticed this. Kurt pushed and challenged the offensive line and the receivers. During that
What I have learned from Kurt Warner’s success, is that it isn’t easy to get to where you want to be in life. It takes hard work as well as patience and practice and you will get better and get to your goals. It is easier to take short cuts but short cuts only take you so far. Him practicing and using his grit he was able to reach his goal, sure he was older than most of the other players but he at the same was sure of his goals and in his prime consider better. I want to take what I learned from Kurt’s experience and apply it to my life. If I want to become a nurse it will not be an easy road to get there but I must plan and think of it like a marathon and not give up easy. If it does take a little longer than I wanted then I need to plan
Quarterback Nick Foles just signed a two-year extension with the St. Louis Rams. The deal is worth $24.5 million, not including the $1.5 million remaining from his rookie contract. Foles still has one-year left on his contract, bringing the terms to three years $26 million. His new deal was completed on the night if August 7th. "I want to be here. I want to focus on my teammates. I want to be all-in, and I don't want to have to worry about contract issues," Foles told the media. He continued,"I am very fortunate to be here. Im fortunate to have a contract. Im very thankful." The quarterback played for the Philadelphia Eagles last year, before he was traded to the Rams on the off-season. In his three seasons with the Eagles, Foles threw for 6,753 yards, 46 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. Foles has yet to play a game for the Rams, but he apparently has done enough in practice to impress head coach Jeff Fisher. Fisher told reporters that in the short period of time that Foles has been with the team, he has showcased tremendous leadership qualities. "It us what he's done on the field early in his career thus far in the league and what he's done for us since he's got
In July 2016, Ezekiel Elliott, running back of the Dallas Cowboys, was accused by his ex-girlfriend of physically attacking her several times, including pushing her into a wall. This woman posted several photos on social media of bruises on her body that she claimed were made by Elliot during the attacks. Although no charges were pressed and he was not arrested, the NFL conducted an investigation on Elliott and the alleged abuse over the following year; after a thorough thirteen - month long investigation, he was officially suspended by the NFL on August 11 for six games. Ezekiel Elliott has denied all these claims and stated that the woman’s bruises were obtained in a bar fight, and many fans believe the victim is falsifying her story to gain

After high school, Brett was recruited by the University of Southern Mississippi for college for the football team. After one of his games, on the way back to his dorm he collided with another car and ruptured his spleen. As a pro football player for the Atlanta Falcons for the season of 1991, Green Bay Packers from 1992 -2007, then The New York Jets in the season of 2008, and lastly he played for the Minnesota Vikings. In 2015, he was nominated to be in the hall of fame and in 2016 he will become a hall of
While driving around a sharp turn near his parents’ house, he lost control of the car and severely damaged himself and the car. The car violently flipped a few times and took rest against a tree. On the way to the hospital Brett wanted to know if he would play again. After six weeks of surgery and recovery Brett returned to Southern Miss and led the team to a comeback victory in the latter part of the game. Crowds and coaches were amazed by what some were calling a miracle win by Brett Favre. Despite being in an almost fatal car crash, Brett made a return and acted like the wreck never happened. Not everyone has the ability to get over being in a tragic event like that, but he knew what he wanted and he worked hard to get a good and swift recovery. Brett was an outstanding player and never looked back on things that already happened and always kept looking ahead and focused how things would improve. Traits like these are something everyone needs in life. Brett showed how gratifying working hard and dedication can be. He also shows how imperative it can be to always get back on your feet and work through any obstacle that comes your
Ron Wolf of the Green Bay Packers had a feeling about Brett Favre the next year and pursued the idea of trading for him. When this process was taking place Brett had to pass his physical exam. The doctors told Wolf that Brett would last five years tops, because of a hip condition similar to what took hall a famer Deon Sanders out of the league. Wolf went with his gut feeling and traded first round draft pick Tony Smith for Favre. Brett came to Green Bay still in the shadows as he was backing up starting quarterback Don “Magic Man” Majkowski at the time. In the third game of the season, Majkowski sustained an injury to a ligament in this foot. Favre trotted onto the Lambeau Field not knowing that this would be one of his numerous come from behind victories. Down 23-17 with 1:07 to go in the fourth quarter, Brett drove the Pack the length of the field, once again throwing the game winning touchdown pass to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
2016 was supposed to be a promising year for the New York Jets. Finishing 10-6 in 2015, basically bringing back the same roster with the addition of the rookie class and signing free agent Pro Bowl running back, Matt Forte, 2016 was supposed to be a playoff year. Well, as many people know, it was not. Ryan Fitzpatrick, the 2015 starting QB, decided to hold out for more money and would go ahead and miss all of minicamp. He would eventually sign his contract right before training camp and would be deemed the starter for the 2016 season.
It's not easy to replace a legend. Ask Brock Osweiler, the backup quarterback for the Denver Broncos, behind Peyton Manning for the last three-and-one-half years. The former Arizona State quarterback has waited while Manning has continued to set records, become the all-time leader in yards passing, beating the record of Brett Favre, of 71,838, and set the record for the most touchdown passes, 509. He has also led his team to the playoffs every year and a Super Bowl loss. Does Osweiler have what it takes to replace Manning when he retires, or can't come back from injury? Time will tell, but he will start his first NFL game on Sunday, November 22, against the Chicago Bears, for the injured Manning.
Whether or not the Washington football team should change their name has been debated for quite some time. The name of the team is a racial slur and can refer to the scalping of Native Americans for a bounty. The Washington Football team should not change their name because it should be something the Natives should decide and it takes attention away from other important issues concerning Native Americans. Opinions on the term are split amongst the Native Americans. There a some who like the name, others who do not, and those who do not care. However, it is still their term and they should get the rights to decide what to do with it. Non-Natives should not be making the decision for them and deciding who gets to use it and who doesn’t while
1. Discuss the factors that have resulted in the NFL becoming “America’s Game” and the
Kurt warner began his professional career with the Rams. Here he spent a lot of time being pushed by the coaches and learning how to play at a professional level. During this time he was definitely not a coach, but could be seen as a mentor later on in his time with the Rams. After he injured his thumb he sat on the bench and had to still support the team. Next he moved to the Giants where he was a mentor to Manning. He was able to help Manning improve his skills and supported Manning even when he lost eight games straight. When Kurt was put in he said that the Giants should put Manning in so he can learn the quick snap. Last when Kurt moved to the Cardinal’s he once again showed more mentoring skills than coaching skills. He was sent to the Cardinals to mentor Matt Leinart, but he also took Fitzgerald under his wing. He mentored both of these players by teaching them the importance of being better than just good enough. While he was a part of the Cardinals the coach made a comment that he did not want to hear from others while he was focused on the game. This shows that he was not a leadership coach. Leadership coaches have to listen to the players to better themselves. Even though Warner was an excellent player and mentor, he lacked the ability to listen to the people bellow him to improve
Two of the only factors that have remained consistent for the Detroit Lions throughout the preseason are their depth at wide receiver and their need to improve on the offensive line. That led the Lions to trade wide receiver Jeremy Kerley to the San Francisco 49ers for offensive lineman Brandon Thomas.
