Both defendants are federal inmates and members of the violent prison gang Soldiers of Aryan Culture. These defendants are accused of stabbing another inmate at least 68 times, inflicting mortal wounds to the victim. During the course of this trial, both inmates have made spontaneous outbursts during the trial and veiled threats towards prosecutors and prosecution witnesses. These defendants are considered extremely violent, as defendant Fackrell has an additional murder charge pending, where he is accused of stomping the head of another inmate, causing that inmate to enter a vegetative

Criminological theories have evolved considerably in terms of their interpretations of crime and deviance. Shifting away from the classical and neoclassical schools of criminology, we move towards a scientific approach that explains criminal behaviour as “determined by biological, psychological and social” (William & McShane, 2018: 25) factors. The question of what causes conformity and deviance is one that is asked by all positivist theorists. It is through the various positivist theories that we are able to answer this question and analyze both conforming and deviant behaviour, while simultaneously providing explanations for such behaviour. In the film Boyz N the Hood, we can see that crime is rampant, and through the multiple positivist
The Real Cool Killers is about finding out the killer of a white guy who was in a bar in Harlem, New York; an all-black neighborhood. Two detectives were assigned to this case because of how much respect they had in Harlem. The detective’s names were Grave Digger and Coffin Ed and they were known for being violent with suspects. The two of the detectives were aggressive people but Grave Digger was more level headed than Coffin Ed ever since he had gotten acid thrown on his face a while back. Coffin Ed might even be trigger happy when things are thrown his way literally. Grave Digger and Coffin Ed were put onto this case to find out information and find it fast. Just a few minutes after the incident happened Grave Digger and Coffin Ed were on the scene, they thought they had some potential suspects. There were 6 young black males on the scene that were potential suspects, Grave Digger and Coffin Ed were going to find information on how this white man died in the middle of Harlem. They arrest only one of the young males because he had a handgun on him but said he shot blanks. Although that was stated Digger and Ed still had to arrest him because he was there only lead and weren't sure if that young male was telling the truth or not. As far as the other 5 young males there were told to sit on the ground and hands where they could be seen by the two
The movie Boyz N the Hood is an illustration of how a group of early adolescents’ lives was affected negatively due to the environment they lived in. These adolescents lived in an environment where drugs, gangs, and shootings were the center of their community. Living in a predominantly African American community these adolescents were faced with many misfortunes. Ricky one of the adolescent characters I have decided to evaluate for this particular paper was faced with adversity.
Youth gang violence has turned into an unmistakable issue in the public eye reaching across national boundaries as well as socio-economic, cultural, racial, and class distinctions. Not only is the problem widely dispersed geographically, but its incidence is also extensive, making it a common, acknowledged, and a mainstream behavior for many teens. Gang activity is extremely common in lower income neighborhoods and ethnic ghettos where underprivileged children are regularly recruited. Youth gang violence has always been an issue in the United States since the 1950’s but many crime analysts tended to overlook the problem of youth gang violence in major cities due to historical events such as the Korean War, U.S. Supreme Court ruled segregation was illegal in the Brown v. Board of Education decision, and the Civil Rights Movement. The first nationwide study undertaken of the nature and extent of gang violence was reported by Walter B. Miller. Miller whose study concentrated primarily on the increase of gang violence and four major motives such as respect, guarding local communities, control, and gain the of monetary goods.
Because he was a minor, he was released early, and less then two years later, He murdered his ex-girlfriend and her two children. The magazine says this is proof that harsh punishment, like a real jail, are necessary. But, really this is just proof that sending minors to a juvenile facility can prevent this from occurring. They can give counseling and support that adult jails can’t provide. They should’ve sent the boy to a facility, where he could’ve changed his life
After a group consisting of twenty-five teenagers including the five young men attacked pedestrians in Central Park, the boys were detained for unlawful assembly by New York City police officers. Because the boys were detained around the same time the jogger was found, a different detective told the station to hold them, as if they were accountable for the crime. The police changed their demeanors immediately, becoming more furious with the boys when their statements did not include the woman. Their goal was then to break them down to a state of despair so they would start to look for a way out, resulting in yelling in their faces, poking their chests, targeting them without their parents, threatening time served, giving false information on evidence, and making them cry. After fourteen to thirty hours in custody, the
Have you ever hated someone so much you wish you could kill them? Well in this story a twelve year old kid named Sucker and his cousin/brother Pete will find out. I chose the question “Do you think that Sucker’s becoming a tough kid is a good thing?”. I think that it is a bad thing for a kid of Sucker’s age to act tough like that. Here are some reasons why.
New Kids on the Block is a book and a retail customer service organization with more than 30,000 employees. Within the organization, roughly 5,000 employees are serving as the heart of NKOTB, they are the “Customer Service Representatives”. Directors for the customer service center suggested that supervisors are not managing the call center representatives suitably and have failed on meeting company goals; they feel this could be due to lack of skills provided by insufficient training. Before the organization experiences loss of market share and profit, NKOTB would like to hire a consulting group to assist in a training development plan for revision on new and improved customer service skills for the call center. NYCMP Consulting places the needs of NKOTB as our highest priority and we would like to introduce a proposal for an efficient program that can prepare supervisors with the best leading skills to fulfill the vision of the company. As an
In society today, it is highly noticed that the role of rap music messages and video images of violence causes an increase in negative emotions, thoughts and behaviors which could lead to violence amongst youth. Rap music has been at the center of concern in regards to the potential harmful effect of violent media on social behavior amongst youth. This potential behavior could be seen in the music video titled “Kim” by Eminem. In this music video, the storyline, language and sound encourages hostile thoughts and feelings amongst its audience. In the music video, Kim husband catches her cheating on him in their home with another man, while he is away. However, when Marshall gets home and finds out that his wife is cheating on him, he gets upset, angry, and abusive and becomes violent towards his wife Kim. He screams at her saying that, if she moves again, he will “beat the shit out of her” (Line 11). Violence in rap music has increased in response to the complex interplay of changing social conditions such as the elevated levels of youth violence in the changing commercial practices within the music industry. Hence, the media influences violence in four negative ways, which contributes immensely to anger amongst youth which leads to aggressive behavior such as social violence, substance abuse, domestic violence, and negative perceptions of women.
"Obviously rap music is too violent. It serves as a musical accompaniment to the entire underclass culture of violence," says the author of "See No Evil", David Klinghoffer, in an article in the National Review. This extremely narrow minded philosophy has neglected to discover what rap music really is and what it means to its millions of buyers, who are mostly of upper-class status. Rap is not only music, it is also a black cultural expression that prioritizes black voices from urban America, and it is a form of rhymed storytelling accompanied by highly rhythmic, electronically based music. Rap music is a form of art or expression like any other type of music. Rap music in itself is not violent. Rap music of today is merely a reflection of
In real general terms, I do agree with Loeber’s three paths that lead to a delinquency career. He explained quite well the various pathways a deviant juvenile may end up taking throughout their course of life, but he fails to mention the social constructs that may had or currently are affecting the said child. Not every person will commit crime at the same time in their lives or for the same reason and Trajectory Theory does a decent job in explaining why.
