LSPA would be a wonderful opportunity for me because of the opportunity it presents to open a new world of journalism and media. To be able to grow as a person and increase my leadership and communication skills would be incredible. I have a passion for writing, drawing, and spreading the word about issues and events that I care about. My creativity can be shown through the Talented Art program I have been in for nine years, and my dedication. I care about issues around the world and locally, shown through organizations I am part of such as Key Club, and the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council. My dedication and commitment to what I believe in would make me a worthy candidate as one of the spots selected for the scholarship for LSPA. Getting a more
If selected for admission, I plan to take advantage of IMSA’s unique learning opportunities by working diligently in all of my classes, joining clubs and teams to learn from my peers, and participating in Student Inquiry and Research to satisfy my curiosity and allow for more independent work. I come from a small high school with approximately one hundred students per class. Funding is a constant problem and learning opportunities are thus very limited. I’ve attempted to take as many science and math classes as possible, as well as world history, foreign language, and an advanced English course, but I still do not feel challenged. My school has done what it can to enhance my learning experience, but my math and science classes aren’t quite
Everyone has a dream or something they want to follow in life. Some want material gain while others want to help as many people as they can. I’m not saying wanting material gain is a bad thing, but what I am saying is that for me, money is not the number one concern when my dream is to help others. My hunger to help others only grows by the day. Because of what’s going on in the world we live in today, I believe that it is important that those who are less fortunate than others have the assistance they need to get to an even playing field, health-wise, with others.
I believe that I am proficient in establishing a classroom setting that calls upon the students to learn in an individual and collaborative manner. I believe that I have sufficiently encouraged positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self motivation. I have shown this in learning activities that have been presented to the students. An example of this would be with the placard assignment, which had the students fill out a sheet that corresponded to four maps to help them figure out what artifacts certain cultural regions would use. During this learning segment, students would have to be self directed after the directions were given, the students would have to use collaborative skills, and they were all engaged during
Education. It is a vital source needed in order to succeed. Though many schools offer a basic education, there are not many that offer the advanced level of learning that ASMSA provides. While attending ASMSA, I hope to be taught at a higher level that better suits my standards. ASMSA will give me the prospect to learn at a level that I can use to challenge myself to better my future.
I felt my heart racing, heard my name being called, and suddenly, anxiety turned into elation. Within moments, I was walking across the international stage in Orlando in front of 16,000 people. I had won 5th at DECA Internationals!
Prior to high school, my uncle was my chemistry teacher. As a food scientist, he was to me a great inventor who knew everything about the magic of taste, texture, and aroma; I still remember his lecture on “good” chocolate and how cocoa butter—solid at room temperature—melts readily in our mouths. Raised on an early appreciation for the power of applied science, I am now driven toward chemical science by a desire to uncover solutions to challenges in the modern world.
The reason why I want to have a seat in the University of Minnesota Post secondary Education Option Program is because it will be great for me obviously and it will help me become familiar with a college environment. The type of environment a college has is a mature one with mature way of interacting, than a high school has to offer, and I personally believe that the way students interact is important to how well they do in their study. And college is much more different than a high scool because there is a wide variety of indivituallies with different relgons, cultures, and languages and these situations are cool to experince first hand.My high school is a really small communitiy and it does not offer really good class unlike the University of Minnesota, which is why when I heard about this option I realized it was exactly what I want. In the PSEO program I will be able to acquire these skills, and make my experience at a college a one to remember.
I have grown up on my family farm outside of Albert Lea MN for my whole life. I have always taken a special interest in the beef cattle on our farm. I currently manage all of the herd records, and own part of the business. Throughout my SAE project through FFA, I started my own herd as well. I work extremely hard on our farm with the beef chores. I also help out with the crop farming on my farm by running tractors and watching bins. Because I have such an interest in cattle, I started working on a dairy farm two years ago. I currently milk 150 cows before, and after school everyday. I take a lot of time with my school studies as well. I maintain a 4.0 even while taking numerous college classes, and working. One of my greatest passions while in school has been FFA. I have served as the historian and the President of our
The HLLC community not only provides students with accommodations of residential living but it rewards students with the opportunity to enhance their leadership capabilities and teamwork talents. By being a member of the HLLC community I will be guided as student but shaped into a student leader. I will be able to learn about the right ways of approaching and bringing awareness to social issues, An example in which would be my passion to increase cleanliness and education around the globe. I once saw a documentary entitle “On my way to school”, it featured 6 children and their daily difficulties. They lived in an areas filled with filth, but were happy and thankful to at least have a roof over their heads. These kids would also have to
I believe that play and social interaction keep an essential role in every child’s development, that is the reason I decided to pursue a career in childcare. Through daily interaction with children in their early years, I find children are so interesting, the way they can be so creative and imaginative is amazing.
My involvement in extracurricular activities has helped me grow as a person over the past four years of high school. I have learned how to be more responsible, reliable, as well as how to be a team player and work well with others. I enjoyed playing softball and CYO volleyball and basketball. I knew it was not just about the game I was also about the people. I did my best to help my teammates.

My senior year is the grand conclusion to four amazing years of my high school life. My plans are to attend an in-state university to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering and Informational Technologies. Technology has always been an interest of mine ever since I can remember--as a kid I would tear apart computers just to see how they worked. That spark of interest inspired my love for technology and made me want to pursue it as a career.
The qualities that attract me to LSA are the vast amount of career opportunities stemming from the subjects available to major in. It is the largest of University of Michigan's schools and offers an extreme amount of variety. I am highly interested in technology and computers and the courses that LSA provides. I have two sisters who are involved in University of Michigan's LSA program and, based on what I have witnessed and what they have said, it is a hard, but fulfilling school. Due to the high intensity of this undergraduate college, career options will open up. Companies who are looking for undergraduate students or students after graduation know that kids from LSA are well prepared and educated to perform the job requirements that they
