In my opinion, Anna Sergeyevna and Emily Grierson are very alike. Despite, being from two different stories Chekhov’s “Lady with the dog” and Faulkner’s “A Rose for Emily”. However, these women have at least two major differences because Anna was married and Emily was never married. Also, Emily ages more throughout the story than Anna. For example, Emily was dead before the story began, then an old woman and became a young lady. Even though, these women have two major differences. Still, these two women are very alike because they were oppressed by men, depressed and had affairs with men. First, I believe that these two women are very similar. Despite, being from two different worlds. They are very similar because they’re oppressed by men in their family. For example, Emily is oppressed by her father because he doesn’t think “any of the suitors are any good for Emily” (464). While Anna felt oppressed by her husband because she couldn’t continue her affair with Dmitri.…show more content…
Anna was a married woman about 20 that traveled to Yalta alone. There she met Dmitri, another married man that traveled alone. So, both Anna and Dmitri fell in love and began having affairs. However, Emily was not married but started seeing Homer. Emily was in love with Homer and wanted to marry him but, he didn’t love her because “he liked men” (466). Therefore, these women are very alike because of the affairs they had with men. In conclusion, despite that, both ladies are from different stories and are different from each other. Both Anna and Emily still, are very alike because they are oppressed by men, depressed and had affairs with men. Emily was oppressed by her father and Anna was oppressed by her husband. Next, both women are depressed because they couldn’t be with their lovers. Lastly, these women are very much alike because both had affairs. Anna had an affair with Dmitri and Emily was seeing
