In 1656 Diego Velazquez painted the painting, “Las Meninas,” nearly 300 years later, Pablo Picasso painted his own variation of the famous painting. Both paintings are of the same scene, however they portray different and exaggerate different things. The original painting by Velazquez shows the princess as a normal human and isn’t emphasized too much. She is in the center however, and is technically emphasized in a way if we follow the rule of thirds. The original painting uses realism and uses very “normal” and appropriate colours.
