In both the United States and Nevada, the Supreme Court is the highest level in the Judicial Branch with the Federal Supreme Court making decisions that affect the entire nation. Supreme Court Justices in Nevada serve only a six-year term and do not have term limits. Although, this has always been the case for the Nevada Judiciary branch, many individuals felt that it was time for a change and attempted to ratify a new appointment system. Each state within the United States has its own Constitution and while the purpose of this document has evolved, its overall function has remained the same; to establish rules and regulation that best represent the people of Nevada.

Miranda v. Arizona was a landmark case because now almost everybody knows about this case because of the Miranda Rights that were a direct result of this case, and the Supreme Court’s ruling. The Supreme Courts ruling that it was against Miranda’s rights, then because of this decision they made the Miranda Rights. The Supreme Court was correct in the ruling of Miranda v. Arizona, which they ruled in favor of Ernesto Miranda because his fifth and sixth amendment rights were violated. They were violated because he was not told his rights when he was arrested, and they did not give him the right to a lawyer. (Miranda v. Arizona www.infoplease.com)
My concerns about the case of Hiibel v. the State of Nevada was first, his daughter safety. The second, difficult not obeying the law. There is a saying, to obey is better than sacrifice. Third, if the police officers dispatched to a wrong location, it causes such events. Proper information given to the officers during an emergency will help. Individuals who are not responding, it may be a chance of getting arrested, detained and charged. An example, Sept 4, 2014, in Missouri a man strolling without any suspicion of crime was tackled and arrested for not identify himself. A report by PINAC media confirmed the man detained cost $500 for bail. These cases have their positive and negative future results in the nation.

A muddy shoe print was use to link an unnamed man who was on the run from the police to his vehicle which was carrying 3 ½ pounds of marijuana. The main augment in the Riggins v. Nevada case was the forced administration of antipsychotic medication during trial. Riggins’ believed it violated his guaranteed rights under the Sixth and Fourteenth Amendments. Dr. Inman, you seem to always ask very challenging questions that have me second guessing much of what I have researched.
Gaming has been a large part of Nevada’s history, and has become an even larger part of our economy. In the early years of state hood Nevada struggled with the question of whether or not gaming should be legal. We see the first government involvement in the industry in 1864, before Nevada was even a state. The territorial legislature of the time outlawed any game of chance. In order to enforce the ban penalties were to be levied on anyone caught playing any game of chance. It is not until 1869, 5 years later, that we see certain forms of gaming become decriminalized. From 1869 to 1911 these games of chances remained legal, and the government played a minimal role in the regulation or control of the industry. Once again, in 1911 a progressive movement succeeded in criminalizing gaming in Nevada once again. Gaming would remain legal in Nevada up until the aftermath of the great depression in 1931.
