I. Introduction. The Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation, or more commonly referred to as The Latin Kings, are the one of the most organized and largest Hispanic street gangs, originating in Chicago, Illinois in the 1940s as a “means to protect themselves, their neighborhoods, and their families” (Gangland). They consist of mostly Spanish-speaking or Hispanic members and have territory nationwide, specifically in predominately Hispanic neighborhoods in Chicago, New York, and other cities as well as worldwide such as in Latin America and Spain. The Latin Kings are with the alliance People Nation, with the Vice Lords and the Black P Stones as allies. Their rivals include gangs allied with Folk nation, including the Latin Gangster Disciples, Gangster Disciples, and MS-13. Although founded by Puerto Ricans, most factions are predominately Mexican. The memberships include the King Motherland Midwest faction with approximately 20,000 to 35,000 and dominated by Mexicans as well as the Bloodline Eastcoast faction with approximately 2,200 to 7,500 dominated by Puerto Ricans. Criminality. The Latin Kings have a number of criminal activity they engaged in, but starting in the 1970s, they were most known for their involvement in narcotics trafficking as their primary source of income, including powder cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and heroin. Other activities include burglary, assault, murder, racketeering, weapon trafficking, similar to the average street gang. According to Gangland on A&E, the Latin Kings have tried to “polish up” their image, although many members still run rampant on the streets and in the prison continuing with their criminal

1. Q: How was King John I generally perceived as a king by his followers/citizens? A: Under King John's reign, he issued a new coinage system that not only helped sustain the kingdom's economy, but promoted the importation and exportation of goods and the development of urban areas. King John's motives would later escalate taxation, punishing those who weren't able to pay them.
The Book, My Bloody Life, the Making of a Latin King by Reymundo Sanchez is sad, horrifying and eye opening. Consequently, it makes a person think about the role of society and the social reasons or theories that can explain involvement in gangs or gang activity. I think there may be several theories used to explain involvement in gangs, but I think the best theory used to explain why there are gangs is the “control or social bond theory”. Sanchez illustrates several instances of this theory throughout his book. I will discuss some of these instances and show how they are an example of control/social bond theory.
Thesis: Rulers during the period from 1450 to 1750 viewed themselves ruling with God’s name and have great power and diverse methods to rule their lands, and they are expected to do everything for their people and have great diplomatic policies.
Xerxes was the son of Darius I and his wife Atossa, daughter of Cyrus. He was Darius’ first son after taking the throne. Darius preferred Xerxes over his older brother Artabazanes. When Darius died in 486 BC, Xerxes was 35 and had already been in power of Babylonia for 12 years.
Family is one of those words that have a significant meaning to various individuals. Family may be viewed one way to an individual and another way to someone else. Family consists of those who have played a particular role in one’s life, whether it is positive or negative. In this paper, I will assess Reymundo’s family both nuclear and extended and speak of how his family has become significant in his life and how they have played a role in his decisions. I will also speak of my personal reactions to the story as well as address ways that as a social worker I could work to impact the gang problems in Orlando.
There is one group that Quinones focuses on in the novel which are the “Xalisco Boys”. The “Xalisco Boys” way of drug dealing was very different for that of the “Drug Cartel” in various ways. The “Xalisco Boys” are usually illegal immigrants from Xalisco, Nayarit. The “Drug Cartel” is any organization or group of people who are involved in the drug deals. The best way to describe the way the “Xalisco Boys” do drug deals is very similar to someone delivering something to your house like a pizza delivery. This is very different from the traditional “Drug Cartel” because they usually meet up somewhere and not deliver it to that person's house. The way of the “Xalisco Boys” was successful because it was not a suspicious because it they made it look like a delivery.
They adopted a strict code of discipline for themselves and for all those working with them. They got together probably for protection because where they lived was primarily whites, later more Puerto Ricans moved to the neighborhood and the Whites eventually moved out. The Young Lords became a social club they had parties to raise funds, the money was to have picnics and provide dinners for the families and
“The Republic of East L.A. Stories” captures the heartbreaking experiences Mexican-American’s were forced to endure. Escaping poverty, alcohol abuse, drug use, and gang violence was an everyday struggle for many families during this time. African American and Latino gangs were initially created as a response to white racism. They were restricted as to what areas they could live in and where constantly harassed. As their populations increased, so did white gangs, in order to take control of their “territory”. African Americans and Latinos had no choice but to protect their families by fighting back. As time went on, the violence only continued. The Civil Rights Movement led many gang members to join organizations like the Black Panther Party, but the government quickly responded by breaking them up and soon enough, street gangs quickly returned. The violence escalated, alcohol,
Recognized as one of the most fearless and violent cartels in all of Mexico, Los Zetas was brought forth by a need for personal security in the Gulf Cartel. This former hit man/security style operation, active since 1997, has since grown into its own ruthless and violent organization becoming the second most powerful cartel and easily the most feared in all of Mexico. Heavily trained and armed, members of Los Zetas are set apart from other cartels because of the level of brutality they are willing to administer to those who cross them, though they had initially hoped that by being more intimidating they would have to fight less. It is their command of the drug market, their lack of fear in using violent tactics, and the
At any rate, it is very clear that some youths engage in more gang activity than others; some might be called "the wannabes" who move out of the influence of the gang on the basis of whether or not a program of interest intercepts drawing them completely away from the gang. Within the "wannabes" there are many little brothers and sisters, sometimes referred to as "pee wees." However, on separate and certain occasions they are sent home by their older siblings when something was about to happen for which only older members were being mobilized. Moreover, I am going to go into explicit detail on two Hispanic gangs The Mexican Mafia, the Nuestra Familia, and the Latin Kings.
The conflict between the Catholic Pope and Henry VIII starts when Henry VIII wants to annul his marriage to his first wife Catherine of Aragon that leads to disagreement of the Pope and the establishment of the Church of England Henry VIII of England. Henry decides that he don't need any permission from the Rome to have his marriage annulled instead he declare himself as the head of the England Church which cuts the communication between England with Rome and marry Anne Boleyn in 1529. In 1532 Thomas Cranmer who’s married twice become the archbishop and an act called Act in Restraint of Appeals was made that is strictly forbid for the bishop of Rome. After two years 1534 another law was made called Act of Succession means that everyone must swear their
Throughout the history of England monarchs, there have been numerous great rulers. The Tudor Dynasty of England started in 1485 with the first Tudor monarch Henry VII. The line continued with Henry VIII, the Edward VI, the Mary I, and finally Elizabeth I who died without an heir ending the Tudor dynasty. Under the Tudor rule, England had become more economically healthier, more expansive, and more optimistic than ever before. Between 1490-1500 at the end of the Renaissance, Europe was stable. Columbus had just landed in the New World, the Holy Roman Emperor and the King of Hungary signed a peace treaty to end the Austrian-Hungarian war, and Scotland and England signed a 5 year peace treaty called the “Truce of Coldstream.” Under the rule King
The newly formed Nuestra Familia engaged in prison war against the Mexican Mafia throughout the 70’s until the later 1970’s when a formal divide was acknowledged between the gangs. After the formal divide Nuestra Familia began making allies with other Californian Prison gangs like the Black Guerilla family to defeat a common enemy, The Mexican Mafia. On the other side the Mexican Mafia teamed up with the Aryan Brotherhood to combat the newly formed Nuestra Familia and Black Guerilla Family alliance. In order for the Nuestra Familia to gain power in the prisons it has to control the contraband coming in and out of prison. This is where the foot soldiers, the Norteños, came in handy. Norteños is a Spanish term for northerners. (Gangland, 2008) The Norteños operated under leadership from the Nuestra Familia members in prison. The Norteños used the trafficking of drugs like marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine to gain currency. They also had successful prostitution and identity theft rings to sustain their dominance in northern California. This held true, the power of the Nuestra Familia has infinitely grown since its beginning in the 60’s.
The Latin Kings organization was founded in Chicago, Illinois, in 1940 after a number of Puerto Rican men and later Mexican men organized themselves into a group that was meant to protect their communities. However, this group, that was meant to protect Latino immigrants against racism and oppression, grew over the years and turned into one of the largest criminal gangs in America. From 1970 the Latin Kings started to commit a large number of crimes: murder, drug trafficking, robberies etc. Since then they started to grow bigger and bigger, and they spread all over the world; especially in Latin America, and Spain (Europe). In the United States they are divided into two factions: Motherland or KMC (King Manifesto and Constitution) and Bloodline who has its home in New York.
