NBA Draft Profile: Lauri Markkanen, PF, Arizona Key Stats: 15.6 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 0.9 APG Measurables: 7’0 , 230 pounds Strengths: Lauri Markkanen is the epitome of today’s NBA, he is your prototypical stretch four with some impressive guard skills that should make for an intriguing prospect. The appeal for Markkanen starts with his shooting, in his lone season at Arizona he shot an impressive 42% from the three point line on 4.4 attempts per game, that combined with his 54% conversion rate inside the three point line and you have a guy that has the potential to be an offensive superstar. At Arizona he showed an impressive handle from the four spot and even at times played pick and roll within in the system and coming off of pin down screens …show more content…
Teams drafting Lauri Markkanen in the lottery are not drafting him to be an anchor of their defense. He struggles mightily to guard pick and roll ball handlers which is surprising for a forward with his mobility and skillset. In order for him to succeed in a team’s frontcourt he has to be surrounded with competent rebounders, last year he had a 14% true rebounding percentage which is not good for a 7’0 forward playing close to 30 minutes a game. The only reason Arizona was one of the top rebounding and defensive teams in the nation was because of their guards, who were really good rebounders at their position. At the next level Lauri Markkanen has to get better and tougher on that side of the ball especially playing the four spot where they are going to run a lot of spread pick and rolls and try to attack him off the bounce. At the next level it is a must that he develops a certain level of toughness, he doesn’t have to be a defensive stopper but he at least has to be competent enough to execute the schemes his team wants to …show more content…
He probably won’t fall this low but Miami is the best team fit for Lauri, with Hassan Whiteside grabbing every rebound you could hide him on the glass, and they have a plethora of guards and forwards who can hide him defensively. A more realistic team, however, are the Kings and Hornets both teams need scoring badly and Markkanen would be just what the doctor ordered. For the Kings he would give them an offensive star to build around, and for the Hornets he will give Kemba Walker a pick and roll partner that could finally give him adequate space to create offense for that
On Tuesday, Duke Blue Devils freshman Harry Giles declared for the 2017 NBA Draft. Having entered the college basketball season as a then sure-fire lock to be a lottery selection, Giles' current stock has him going anywhere from the middle of the first round to the middle of the second.
He is a 46 percent shooter from the floor and shoots 41 percent from beyond the arc.
If LaVine can knock down the three-point shot at a 38 percent clip or better, he will be just that more dangerous as a combo guard on the Timberwolves. He essentially provides what Ricky Rubio cannot and that is offense. Rubio is a pass first, score second point guard, which works in Minnesota's offense especially when you have guys like LaVine, Towns, and
I decided to use this article because of the hype surrounding Lonzo Ball being the next Jason Kidd. I watched him play at UCLA and I just wanted to see how he would play against NBA caliber players. He played bad, but I don’t think people should be calling him a draft bust because he hasn’t played since March and he has to shake off the rust. But I will admit I don’t he ever going to be able to shoot, especially with that unorthodox shooting form.
Steph Curry is one of the best point guards in the NBA. I chose to do Steph Curry because he is a great, hard-working, determined, joyful, and an amazing basketball player. He has broken many of records and plays for one of the best teams in the league, the Golden State Warriors. Steph is very passionate about what he does and works very hard in practices and on the court, and most importantly, he never gives up.
Marcus Morris is coming into his first season with the Pistons after previously playing for the Phoenix Suns. This Detroit team is young and has played well together overall. So far in two games, Morris has averaged 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He’s also shot a solid 89 percent from the charity stripe and averages 36.5 minutes per contest. Morris is only owned in 34.9 percent of ESPN fantasy basketball leagues, so he is one player who I plan on picking up going forward. It already seems as if Marcus Morris has firmly planted himself within the starting five on this Pistons team, so he will be a great fantasy option going forward.
With second-year coach Frank Vogel at the helm, the Magic are expected to push the tempo and play a faster pace of basketball, something that fits Gordon skill set. Last season Gordon mostly played small forward while averaging 12.7 points. This year he’s expected to play more power forward, this will allow him to have a speed advantage over slower defenders.
Every offseason, teams go into free agency looking to find that one player that will put them over the top. Some teams look for that game changing player on defense, while others look towards the offensive side of the ball.
He’ll probably be All-Star this season and many seasons to come. He can compete with any guard in the league because of his speed and athleticism mainly, but that’s not the only way. He’s had numerous injuries and has fought through each and every one of them. Derrick loves it when people say he can't do this or that, he just loves challenges, that's what pushes him. Third reason is because he doesn’t let his past injuries and the critics get to his head.
At ninth, Nikola Vucevic of the Orlando Magics is the ninth best center in the NBA. He averaged 19 points and 1 rebounds, shooting a career high 52 percent from the field and having his best season as a midrange shooter. Defensively, Vucevic is not so good. He doesnt play well defense but is going to improve because of the teams new coach.
He developed his outside shooting when his team competed in the Big 12. He hit more shots from beyond the arc than any other basketball player out there, except for Buddy Hield of Oklahoma. Not only he developed his outside shooting, but his defensive abilities as well. It happened during his career after a couple of years of being with the team. He's a pretty solid defender which is a plus and an advantage for the team. He believes that defense is one of the big keys to the team's success. Not only that, he believes that defense wins games and it's the best offense that you've got. No matter how many points you scored, you can't win without playing defense at all.
Drafted by the NBA at the age of 19, many critics wondered if he would last. Not many kids know how to handle fame, most end up on the never-ending road of drugs and rehab...a cycle that never ends.
Guys like Curry, Draymond Green and even Andre Iguodala all will steal looks away from him. Overall, the kid is phenomenal shooting the ball, but his other stats could use a bit of polishing. He should end up around the third ranked shooting guard in the league for me.
The fame of Sebastian Telfair, regarded by some as the top young high school point guard in America this year, has been growing since he was 15. He will most likely enter the NBA
The Critical Race Theory emerged in the mid to late 1970s when there was a significant amount of racial minorities and it focuses of theorizing race and the law. CRT scholars view racism and racial discrimination as systematic and institutional and consequentially not as individualized, standard and capable of remedy within the current constitutional and legislative framework. CRT emerged from Critical legal studies, covers a wide-ranging collection of work and it critiques scholars of CLS for not addressing the issue of race and law adequately. This essay aims to analyze six of the most important aspects outlining the theoretical framework of the Critical Race Theory adapted from various CRT scholars and its relation and application to the book, To Kill a Mocking Bird. Secondly, this essay will address some of the criticisms levied against CRT by Marxists. The purpose of essay is to determine, in light of CRT application, whether it was
