Our principle should approve a field trip to Lava Bed National Monument. He should approve a field trip to the monument, because it seems like a wonderful place we should go on for our field trip. The Lava Bed National Monument is between the states of California and Oregon, but it is actually located in the state of California. That is a very long, extensive drive, but the national monument is worth to take the time out and go to. The Lava Bed National Monument is 47,000 acres. That is a very enormous monument and it has only 130,000 visitors each year, which is not a massive amount of visitors. It does not get as much tourists as its neighboring national parks or …show more content…
It is called Yosemite National Park. Yosemite National Park attracts 4 million people annually, which is another reason why Lava Bed National Monument does not attract as many tourists. The national monument is a great place to take us on a field trip, because it has a profusion of things to wander at. I am sure that all the eighth grade students would love to go to Lava Bed National Monument. It would also be like a science field trip too, because our science teacher could teach us about the natural volcanoes at the huge national monument. I think many students would be excited to wander in the dark caves, because they might find a huge variety of things they never seen before. I bet that many of the students would have an astonishing look on their faces. The Lava Bed National Monument would be a substantial experience for
One summer my parents informed my brother Ben and I we were going on a trip to Yellowstone National Park. I had never been so excited for anything in my life. I had a passion and love for nature, and being that Yellowstone had some of the most beautiful and interesting geological features on Earth, I knew I would have a blast. They said we would be going in a few weeks, and I literally couldn’t wait. I kept asking questions upon questions, and finally, my dad just got annoyed. “Go research it, Juliette.” He said. “The internet will know more than I do.” I took his advice and went to research Yellowstone.
Throughout the course of American history, we have seen a complete sway in the pendulum as we discuss each and every U.S. President and how they impacted America at a certain time. We see similarities and contrast between the different administrations even if they are both far out or close together. In class, the analysis of Presidents John Tyler, Andrew Johnson, and Chester A. Arthur was quite interesting their comparativeness. Although separated by party affiliation, origins, policy outlooks, and evolving timeline in US history, they uniquely share a comparative touch to each other. I will analyze what these comparisons are and why these comparisons are important not only to their administrations, but how they have affected the American
How can you get Fort McHenry, Sutter's Mill, Minute Man National Park, Independence National Historical Park, Ellis Island National Monument, Manzanar National Historic Site, Fort Sumter National Monument, Edison National Historical Park, Death Valley National Park, Yorktown National Historical Park, Valley Forge National Historical Park, Appomattox Courthouse National Historical Park, Golden Spike National Historic Site, The Alamo Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site, and Fort Clatsop National Historical Park all into one classroom in Oregon? Even more challenging, the classroom is located in a juvenile detention facility so the students will not be making any site visits. . There are photos and websites, traveling trunks and lesson
The place I choose was Monument Valley, why because of how spectacular and diverse it is in biodiversity and how majestic it is in landscape. Since Stagecoach was filmed there in 1938, it has been a popular location for many feature films and television commercials. The place is usually used for filming location for Western movies because of the landscape.
Today was an exciting day, my family and I went on a trip to the Yellowstone National Park! I was shocked at the history of the park. The park has been around for almost 11,000 years. We had to take a plane because it is located almost in all of Wyoming, but does go into Montana and Idaho, so I got to visit three states. It is one of the United States well known parks and visited by millions, including myself. The tour guide was very helpful in giving us information about the park. The earliest visit recorded was back in the 1800s. The people of Montana did not want development of the land that lead to President Ulysses S. Grant to preserve the land and make it a park. The people refused to have mining and logging to destroy their land.
The current event is entitled, “Lava Mae: Creating Showers on Wheels for the Homeless”. This article explains the invention of showers on wheels to help the homeless of San Francisco’s streets. A former marketing executive was saddened by the conditions that the homeless of her San Francisco streets were living in. After becoming close with a homeless man, this woman decided that if she could provide at least some dignity to this population then she would do just that. She realized that many of the homeless she saw were very dirty and probably did not have access to a shower. The entire city of San Francisco only has 16 to 20 shower stalls available for use of the homeless population which includes around 6,500 people. This means that
To begin with, everyone of all ages can experience this historical sight and not be bored. The trails that people can walk on are only a small part of what you can do at the state park. There is a 18 hole golf course, wild cave tours, fishing ponds, horseback riding, and several picnicking spots. There are also several interpretive programs. Many activities that all sorts of people would like to experience. The one thing I think the park should have is a swimming pool close to the waterfalls
Have you ever heard of the Lava Beds National Monument? It is a national monument located in California. It is considered to be California's "best kept secrete" because not a lot of people know about it. I feel like our principal should approve on going to a field trip in this area because there are many adventurous sites and fun activities there.
Japanese-Americans and Americans felt invisible in many ways because of the way they were treated and relocation or POW camps. Once the Japanese-American families were at a relocation camp they had to go through an interview with the Government workers. “As a result of the interview,” she wrote, “my family name was reduced to No. 13660. I was given several tags bearing the family number, and was then dismissed” (Okubo, 19) This shows that MIne feels invisible because she got her name taken away and reduced to a five digit number. When POWs got to the camp in Ofuna no one was allowed to talk or look at other prisoners, if they did they would be beaten by a guard. “There were dozens of men in cells near him, but there was no sound. In this warren
This is my research paper over the Smokey Mountains, which are located in Tennessee and part of North Carolina. One interesting fact about the Smokey Mountains is that it is the nation's busiest park, that draws more than nine million visitors a year, twice the number of any other national park. What most of the millions of people that visit usually see is the park from a mountain-skimming highway that, on a normal weekend day during the summer, draws over 50,000 people.
Tourists are often attracted to the state of California for the interesting sights, both in the big cities and in nature. However, resting near the California and Oregon state border, is a lonely road that leads to what some consider the state of California's "best kept secret." Lava Beds National monument is a beautiful park in the state of California. This gorgeous sight would be a great place for my fellow classmates and I to learn and educate ourselves on a few things in the park.
The Raton-Clayton volcanic field is about 20 000 km2 in size, and has been active periodically for the past 9 million years. The area is filled with peaks, cones, and lava-capped mesas. The mesas developed as lava flowed into valleys and depressions, cooled off and formed a resistant top layer over sedimentary rocks. As the surrounding rock eroded, the lava protected the underlying stratigraphy from erosion. This caused todays topography, where that which was once the lowest point, is now the highest. There is some disagreement over why the volcanic field is here, one possible cause is that it is near the end of the Jemez Lineament, which has numerous volcanic centers along its reach, possibly
During my own excursion to this geological phenomenon, I marvelled at the sheer vastness and unorthodox beauty of the formation, which I was severally reminded by the park’s agreeable staff is not classified as a mountain. If not a mountain, though, what is Enchanted Rock? As I was fairly young at the time of my visit and did not raise questions concerning Enchanted Rock’s identity, I only recently uncovered the nature of the dome, when conducting research for this essay.
I looked up from my book, and saw the beautiful Granite Cliffs of El Capitan. I can’t believe I’m actually here. I am so lucky that I have the opportunity to see the beauty of this mesmerizing place. Yosemite National park is the most captivating places I’ve ever been. It is in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Yosemite was established on October 1,1890 because of the so many things that make it as outstanding as it is. Yosemite is 747,956 acres of waterfalls, trees, cliffs, mountains and more. My family and I have only been here for an hour, and I am so excited to begin all of the remarkable activities we have planned.
Water Pollution: Clean drinking water is becoming a rare commodity. Water is becoming an economic and political issue as the human population fights for this resource. One of the options suggested is using the process of desalinization. Industrial development is filling our rivers seas and oceans with toxic pollutants which are a major threat to human health.
