I. Leadership Context For the purpose of this paper, I will be looking at and analyzing a company and a member of its team in a leadership position. I will then design a leadership development plan around this position and company as if a new hire were to be taking over the position. The company I will be looking at is TOMS a shoe company as the context in which to explore leadership skills and a leadership plan. I will develop my leadership development plan around this company and skills required to be a CEO in this company. TOMS was created by founder and CEO Blake Mycoskie in 2006, after traveling to Argentina. Here he witnessed firsthand the hardships faced by children growing up without shoes. Because of this experience he came up with the vision for a shoe company that used the One for One model. This model would match every pair of shoes purchased with a new pair of shoes for a child in need. Not much is known about the rest of the organization, except that he has people working beneath him within the United States and works with shoe makers in Argentina, China, and Ethiopia. On their website they describe the material they use to make their shoes as being made with sustainable and vegan material that includes natural hemp, organic cotton, and/or recycled polyester.
