Throughout my life I am a part of numerous groups and in those numerous groups my position varies. In some groups I may be a leader and in others I tend to be quiet.
A group that I am a part of is the Field Hockey team at Renbrook School. On this team my role is the one and only goalie. I think that this puts me in a leadership position along with the fact that last year I was and will continue to be one of the older members of the team. On the team I help our new players with their positions and what to do during drills. Also since my position allows me to see the whole field I can give advice about plays and spacing. I am not always such a key player though, sometimes our team of talented girls run the game so the ball never passes into the circle.

Another more unlikely team that I am a part of is horseback riding, ranging from the first time I ever rode the horse or if I ride that particular horse quite often, it is still a team and we both have an understanding of one another. The horses I ride range in personality some are a very strong personality or a quiet more of a mellow personality. Either Way I have to initiate my leadership otherwise the horse will see me as a pushover and not listen to my commands.
Overall I see myself as a strong personality, and a leader. This analysis shows that in the future I will most likely continue to be the way I am. As far as improving there is allways room, one way that I can improve is not being too shy at the start of something new. This is one trait I will try to improve on as I move on to my secondary school. Although I see myself as a strong personality I do not see any need for me to tone it down, toning down my personality would change who I am as a person and I do not need to
Although I have been on the tennis team for two years, there is more of myself that you may not know. Besides tennis, I participate in gymnastics and Track. For track, I am a pole vaulter and hurdler. I lettered last year for Varsity. As for other leadership roles, I was a WEB leader which helped incoming sixth graders while I was in eighth grade. During that time, I learned how to organize events and become more social. For this reason, I love to include others and make sure no one feels as though they aren part
Leadership is a quality I like to think I consist of. I’ve been playing competitive sports ever since I was in the 2nd grade and know how to work as a team. I’ve been a team or game captain many times throughout my years of sports, and have always started for my lacrosse team since I was young. I am most proud of my freshman lacrosse season where I started as a goalie and lead our team to only 2 losses on the season. Multiple games in that season I was selected as captain.

Like for example, I was the shortstop and I had an important role to be the cut off for the outfielders but I had to communicate with them and tell them where to locate the ball or where to throw it. Besides being a leader, participating in this sport taught me that I also have to be a follower. I learned that you cant always be the leader in the situation because it may start tension in the team.
Whilst it is important to know and succeed in your own role within the school it is also beneficial to have knowledge of others roles within your team and how you all can work effectively together.
In my four years of high school, I have had many opportunities to excel in different roles and leadership positions. I am a four sport athlete and had my share of leading the team in the right direction. I was team captain for basketball and softball by junior year and was able to achieve being captain in volleyball, basketball, and softball my senior year. Part of my duties as captain would include; leading practices and leading all the players by being a role model on and off the court. My character is something I take a lot of pride in. I am known to be honest, kind, and playful. I enjoy having fun but I know my limitations. I know when enough is enough and when it is time to get work done. I think this is why I excel in public and community settings. I know how to make people laugh and feel good about themselves with just a smile. I am also very honest. Since a young age my parents have inspired me to be honest and grateful. I have great work ethic and enjoy being helpful. I am patient
Whether you are just an average player on the team or someone who is a known leader, the rest of the team will count on you to do your role no matter what it is
As I was growing up, I naturally looked for ways to help my community. It was an concept that I was extremely fond and passionate about at an early age. Through this, leadership came easily and almost inherently. When high school came I emerged myself within the wide variety of activities. It was just an effortless tendency. I loved being involved, therefore I got myself involved. As a freshmen, I was at the bottom and I watched in amazement of how the upperclassmen led with such confidence and drive. I aspired to be like them one day. With this large desire to make my mark in my small community, I naturally took on leadership roles because I wanted to make an impact, a lasting impact. John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others
Confidence, communication and commitment are just three of many traits that a leader possesses. Having those traits may help you become a leader but continuous hard work and dedication makes you one. To continue to be a leader you must also be intelligent, courageous, and determined. Becoming a leader is difficult but continuing to be one is even more difficult.

As a growing debate, the question at hand is whether great leaders are born with specific leadership traits, or if one can be taught certain traits over time. According to (Wikipedia.com) the approach of listing leadership qualities, often termed "trait theory of leadership", assumes certain traits or characteristics will tend to lead to effective leadership. I believe that leadership traits such as honest, competent, initiative, inspiring, hardworking, intelligent, and the ability to lead the masses, are some of the leadership traits one should possess. Within this paper, I will examine the overall concept of leadership traits, while observing the traits that were, or can be associated with successful leaders.
An essential component of leadership is to articulate and exemplify the organization's core values. These values must be clear, compelling, and repeated. The leader must both "walk the talk" and inspire his/her colleagues within the organization to also live these values. Values are at the core of individual, group or organizational identity. Values are relatively enduring conceptions or judgments about what is considered to be important to an organization. Agreement between personal and organizational values result in shared values which constitute the benchmarking of a successful business practice.
The qualities I seek within, the best version of me that I can be now, is really nothing extravagant or exaggerated as I seek to advance myself within human capabilities. I do not wish to become a superhuman or superior to others. What I truly seek is to become a person that is open to the opinions of others, one who can logically and calmly rationalize my actions, have a dignified appearance and confidence in personality, all while having a sense of authority regarding my own actions.
