Throughout my life I grew up dancing and I started off with assistant teaching and I dealt with a lot of beginners. Many of the beginners get discouraged when they can not execute a skill perfectly on the first few attempts. I have always been able to help the beginner learn the skill and instill the confidence in them that they will get it. I was also given the opportunity by my father to drag race last year. I struggled a lot at first, but then I figured it out. A year into my racing I became the points leader for my local race track’s high school challenge series and I was provided with the opportunity to represent at North East Division Bracket Finals which is a huge honor. The day after bracket finals ended was the National Junior Dragster Challenge at my local race track. I did not grow up racing junior dragster like these kids did however, I helped them prepare for their races and helped them go rounds and one of the girls I helped won the pro driver class. This skill was instilled by my father, some of the track officials at my local race track, and all of my dance teachers throughout my years dancing. I feel the ability to help prevent beginners from being discouraged is essential in a child’s growth because once a child gets discourage they will most likely give up and not want to

As I stood on the fields of the Battle of Belleau Wood at the Aisne-Marne American Memorial Cemetery I reflected on the men who had fought where I stood one hundred years ago. I thought about the sacrifices they made, the hardships they endured, and the friends they lost. As the sun set and the flag lowered, the sound of the bugle rang in my ear and sent shivers down my spine, and I asked myself a question: why do I have the right to give anything less? So many men and women have sacrificed everything for this country, and at that moment I felt the weight of their sacrifice on my shoulders. I came to the Naval Academy because I wanted to be surrounded by people like the ones who fought at the Battle of Belleau Wood, the

Throughout my life I am a part of numerous groups and in those numerous groups my position varies. In some groups I may be a leader and in others I tend to be quiet. A group that I am a part of is the Field Hockey team at Renbrook School. On this team my role is the one and only goalie. I think that this puts me in a leadership position along with the fact that last year I was and will continue to be one of the older members of the team.
From a very young age, children in our society are taught that if they work hard enough, stay focused on their goal, and want something bad enough then they will get it. I learned in a difficult way that this is most definitely not the case. I have been dancing since I was about seven years old. It’s nothing competitive and the program that I’m in requires me to not focus on others, but rather to focus on improving myself and push to be better than the day before. I joined our schools dance team in hope of becoming more competitive and involved in my school community.
As I was growing up, I naturally looked for ways to help my community. It was an concept that I was extremely fond and passionate about at an early age. Through this, leadership came easily and almost inherently. When high school came I emerged myself within the wide variety of activities. It was just an effortless tendency. I loved being involved, therefore I got myself involved. As a freshmen, I was at the bottom and I watched in amazement of how the upperclassmen led with such confidence and drive. I aspired to be like them one day. With this large desire to make my mark in my small community, I naturally took on leadership roles because I wanted to make an impact, a lasting impact. John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others
To inspire and influence others, a leader must possess many skills and abilities. As motivational speaker Peter Northouse, states, “a leader should be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant” (Northouse, 2013) Moving an entire group of individuals toward a singular goal is a considerable undertaking. Without effective communication skills and a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished, one will feel like they are trying to herd cats rather than leading.
Confidence, communication and commitment are just three of many traits that a leader possesses. Having those traits may help you become a leader but continuous hard work and dedication makes you one. To continue to be a leader you must also be intelligent, courageous, and determined. Becoming a leader is difficult but continuing to be one is even more difficult.

To be a leader, one begins by becoming a follower and learning leadership skills via the example of others. So far, I have been given the opportunity of taking on multiple roles as a leader. Through my life experiences I have learned that to be a leader, I must be willing to take constructive criticism and understand that to motivate those around me they will need to be pushed past their comfort zone by my example. Along with these principles, I have learned to be opportunistic, realistic, and never satisfied. Using these characteristics and principles, I seek to take athletes to a level of performance and mental strength that is higher than what they ever could have imagined as a future Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
As a growing debate, the question at hand is whether great leaders are born with specific leadership traits, or if one can be taught certain traits over time. According to (Wikipedia.com) the approach of listing leadership qualities, often termed "trait theory of leadership", assumes certain traits or characteristics will tend to lead to effective leadership. I believe that leadership traits such as honest, competent, initiative, inspiring, hardworking, intelligent, and the ability to lead the masses, are some of the leadership traits one should possess. Within this paper, I will examine the overall concept of leadership traits, while observing the traits that were, or can be associated with successful leaders.
In the changing business environment, leaders of all organisations may face unprecedented uncertainty, especially the technology advancement and changes among the employees. To survive and succeed, leaders should have some necessary attributes. Meanwhile, some changes for leadership skills have to be made to confront the challenges.
Adaptability, creative thinking and broad perspectives are now fundamental to managing businesses. I have developed these through being a valued member of the college photographic society. Helping the college to capture images and memories of important events that took place, and ensuring that ecstatic moments were captured through my lens, this requires the ability to adapt to any changes during the event and react spontaneously to it. With my commitment to tasks and strong work ethics, I diligently ensured that any tasks that was delegated to me is done with quality, effectiveness and efficiency. It is because of this activity participated that acquired me with the ability to see the world in a different light and with a different perspective,
An essential component of leadership is to articulate and exemplify the organization's core values. These values must be clear, compelling, and repeated. The leader must both "walk the talk" and inspire his/her colleagues within the organization to also live these values. Values are at the core of individual, group or organizational identity. Values are relatively enduring conceptions or judgments about what is considered to be important to an organization. Agreement between personal and organizational values result in shared values which constitute the benchmarking of a successful business practice.
