I’ve learned from experience in the past I know that I’m a mixture of the Laissez-faire and Participative leader when it comes to my home, community, and self. I prefer to just go with the flow and not really take assertive action to finish a task unless it necessary. On the flip side of that when I’m in the work setting I prefer to possess the leadership style of an autocratic leader, but I believe that is because I work with kids that grow up being a troubled youth. While working with the troubled youth I teach them to golf, which I very passionate about since I’ve been playing and growing as a golfer since the age of ten. So, I feel like I have to be an autocratic leader just to get through to them so that I can teach them not only to be a better golfer but a better youth to society.
Moving on, I never knew what went into these different categories and why my leadership style was so different when it came to the four domains of life. Luckily after taking the leadership development assessment, I started to learn more things about what type of leader that I am. In the four domains of my lives which are work, home, community, and self. When it came to the Emotional intelligent survey I think it highly reflected my life because it showed that I had the lowest scores in Assertiveness, Independent, and Impression Management category. It was that much of a surprise to me because I’ve been told about by the executive director of the company that I work for that I need to work on
When we think about what a leader and manager is, most of us will use the same meaning. But in actual fact this is incorrect. We have to look at these two terms differently. What is a manager? A manager is someone who is responsible for directing and controlling the work and staff of a business, or of a department within the organization. So what is a leader? A leader is someone whom people follow, somebody who guides or directs others. Looking at both terms they both are very different. The question is always asked is a manager can be a leader and leader a manager. The true answer is managers are not always leaders, while leaders can be

The project I chose to demonstrate my leadership on was to go around the Frostburg community picking up recycling and then dumping it in a local landfill. I first chose this project to work on because I thought, how could I help Frostburg and give back to the community? By recycling products and going green, these products can eventually be reprocessed and re-used without having it go to waste. I mainly decided to collect recycling to maintain and keep Frostburg clean and liter free. It establishes a healthy environment for locals, students and staff around the area. Going green and keeping the community environmentally friendly is highly stressed around the world today. Any kind

Leadership theory, or the scientific approach to understanding leadership, is a vast group of theories that try to explain what makes, or constitutes a great leader. There are many schools of thought on this subject and many pull from existing psychological theories, like Behavioral Theory, Developmental Theory, Personality Theory and Learning theory (Myers, 2014). There are three main leadership theories: trait theory, which suggests that some are born with certain traits that make them an effective leader, while behavioral theory focuses on how leader behave, while contingency theory addresses how the situation influences leadership.
The difference between management and leadership is that management is concerned about structuring the organization and placing individuals in the right positions that are able to perform the functions of those duties and monitors the progress of the people's performance. Leadership motivates the people to understand the vision of the organization and to help them to move closer to that direction, and to help them rise above what obstacles that may stump them.
My personal leadership philosophy have the combination of many variables from childhood to my readings throughout school. I have a special fondness for emotional intelligence, this plays an extensive part in being a leader. As stated in the article, The Philosopher Leader: On Relationalism, Ethics and Reflexivity--A Critical Perspective to Teaching Leadership, being able to know yourself and being able to redirect yourself when needed has a direct link to leadership abilities. Self- awareness is a key variable in leadership but having empathy is also a very important concept as well.

Discovered by Dr. James McGregor Burns, Transformational Leadership relates to engagement and connectivity. Dr. Bernard Bass expounded Burn’s work with transactional leadership in his publication Work Leadership. Burns and Bass suggest that leaders should raise consciousness to their followers by sharing the importance of the values and goals of an organization, in turn, motivating followers to address higher management level needs. In 1985, Bass released Leadership and Performance beyond expectation breaking down transformational leadership into four parts.
I would like to be chosen to go to leadership academy, so that I can help our unit achieve high standards and be recognized as an outstanding NJROTC. The reason you should send me to leadership academy is this, I will help the unit succeed as a team by making sure that people in leadership positions take charge and do what is right. Being a leader is what everybody wants to do, but you cannot become one without training to prepare the path.
Level I leadership focuses on the visible human behaviors and leaders instructing their employees to accomplish a task that the employee either accomplish or does not accomplish (Clawson, 2012). To Level I leaders they believe that their approach is faster and more efficient than other levels of leadership. It may seem simpler but in reality, it requires leaders to spend a large amount of time supervising and directing their employees. This type of leadership does not go over well with employees and they begin to slow down production and become less efficient. In some cases if a supervisor leaves the room the production level will drop off dramatically due to lack of motivation and encouragement.

Anytime a leader acts unethically either in the public domain or in private, the act is often met with surprise and shock. This is because the ethical behavior of leaders has a very important effect on the behavior of others, be it in an organization or in the society at large. This is why our leaders must learn to set good examples and avoid setting bad precedence as the effect of such actions are enormous.
Prior to attending the Business Internship course, my knowledge and understanding on successful business leaders was very limited. Although I had heard of countless success stories in business, I had never actually understood what it took to achieve such measures of success. However, it wasn’t until we had the privilege of hearing from four different business magnates in weeks 6 -9. Each of the business leaders gave an hour’s seminar and which was aimed at providing insights into their personal lives, working experiences and the core essence of 21st century business leadership.
In class, so far, we have discussed many different topics about leadership. One being different leadership theories. The one that I feel most represents the leader I want to be in the future is servant leadership. When we discussed servant leadership it was defined as this leadership model is based on the leader and the followers wanting to serve others. Basically, this means the servant leader you put your focus on the needs of others before your own. The followers goal is to serve clients and the leader’s goal is to serve the employee and implement the organization mission statement. The leader supports other employees by noticing their goals and provide the proper support to help them reach those goals. This
