Lastly, leading to accomplish goals is something everyone strives for. Leading by example is also important, I felt like if I did not work alongside my people, I could not expect them to work. Showing my associates how to work together and address any issues immediately is important to leading my team and accomplish the ultimate goal.
“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” John C. Maxwell
A good leader shows others the proper way to act in everyday life. Good leaders help others with their challenges but they also acknowledge that they themselves have challenges in everyday life. A good leader is there to support and aid anyone at anytime. Even if that means getting up early to help before a long day or staying after a hard day and provide guidance those who need it a true leader will do it. Leaders put in the extra work to pick up the slack within the group if it is necessary. Leaders change groups into families. You can not be a leader over others if you first can not lead yourself in the proper way. The only thing different from leading yourself over leading others is that the actions you make while leading yourself only affect you, when you lead others, your actions affect you and others. The person has to be able to take responsibility over their own actions, respect themselves and show, do the work that is necessary and cooperate with
“In order to be a good leader, there are two things to remember. Lead from the Front and always set the Example. From these two leadership principles, everything else will fall into place.”
Any leader knows that leading by example is an effective way to motivate. A leader that does this is normally treated with respect and fairness. One part of the importance of motivation involves self
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”
In athletics, I was put into a position where I had to learn how to lead. There are many different ways to lead. One way is through example. This is the way of leadership I was used to before I got to high school. I soon learned that I need to become a stronger leader.
A leader rouses dedication by example, doing whatever it makes to finish the next step toward the vision. By setting an incredible example, leaders can demonstrate followers that there
The first NC Standard states that teachers need to demonstrate leadership. Leadership means that one leads by example, shows respect and motivates people to do their best. This kind of leadership can be in the classroom or outside of the classroom. It also has to do with working with your fellow teachers to make sure your students have to the best education experience one can give them. When I was at Sunset Park and Codington elementary schools, I saw the teachers show leadership in similar and different ways. Both teachers showed leadership by working with other teachers. At Sunset Park, the two teachers did lessons on butterflies then released the butterflies at then need of the week. Through the respect the two teachers showed each other, their students were able to see an
To know how lead, first you got to learn how to follow. Knowing that quote help me understand my mentor Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith was my coach at first when I started Middle School at Paul Public Charter School. Mr. Smith had taught me to not put sports over education and to respect others.
My father and uncles’ instilled a statement in my head from a young age that I will never forget. This statement is closely related to the Law of Legacy and very relevant to being a leader in the modern business world. The statement only consists of a few words, but these words are very powerful and if this statement is followed, your reputation as a leader will be respected and hopefully emulated. The statement is, “Lead by example, do what is right, be the best you can be, and treat others the way you would like to be treated.”
Personally I think that the idea of being a servant leader is the best way to lead someone in any situation. It provides people with the necessary tools to be successful and keeps them motivated beyond the point of your being there to hold their hands through everything. It’s a small way to give people that necessary push and keep them moving forward. Instead of just giving people what they need at that time you give them the power to make their choices and propel their own life forward. Having someone realize that they “can” is a very powerful thing.
In order for a leader to be a leader he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able of affirmative influence “on others”.
Although I am in the process of becoming a good leader myself, I would also like to help those who look up to me become good leaders as well. I do attain most traits of those of a good leader but that doesn’t automatically mean I am a good leader. Another contributing factor to becoming a leader is time. My father did not become a good leader overnight and neither will I. It may take months or maybe even years but waiting is something one must be willing to
Where leaders learn to lead? The largest aspect of learning for a leader comes from experience. Often times leaders will be thrown into a position and learn on the job. While other leaders will simply learn as they climb the company ladder. Leaders additionally learn from examples. The examples they learn are from others that have done well in a leadership role; therefore, they will take these examples and apply them to their leadership style. Lastly, leaders learn from books and school. Attending leadership classes at the local university is a great start to acquiring skills to become a leader (p. 6).
