Happy customers help to make employees happy and keep them motivated. The reward of customer appreciation can go a long way to keeping employees interested in their work on a day to day basis. Recognition Recognizing employees for accomplishments such as finishing a major project, reaching sales targets or providing excellent customer service can be an important motivating factor. People are able to realise their abilities and potential, take on more responsibility or variety of tasks which improves versatility and prevents boredom leading to demotivation. Goals challenge to employees to make them want to explore new technology, ideas, and gain insight from a diverse workplace. Additionally, giving employees more responsibility will make them believe they have contributed with a sense of higher importance. Without motivation in the workplace, a business will suffer from the lack of efficiency from employees. Perhaps the most significant of increased employee motivation is that of increased productivity (staff@incentives.com, 2010). While everyone may want to be rewarded for a job well done, everyone has different motivations that need to be taken into consideration. Everyone wants to be recognized for their performance and meeting or exceeding standards in the workplace. We have been groomed since infancy to expect a reward for meeting small achievements and major milestones, whether it was a celebratory smile from our parents for eating mashed carrots as a toddler, or walking across the stage to receive our diploma at graduation.
The first topic of inspiring a shared vision is an essential building block for strategic leaders because it casts an expectation for the future and gathers the team and others to fall in line with that expectation (Kouzes, Posner, Maxwell, McAllister-Wilson, Lencioni, Ortberg, & Blanchard, 2004). Inspiring a shared vision causes people to see something and believe it is attainable. The authors wrote, “believing is a certain way of seeing”(Kouzes et. al., 2004, pg. 57). The vision that gives everyone the eyes of faith to believe something is possible always comes before the groundbreaking achievement (Kouzes et. al., 2004).
Reward and recognition programs must connect the needs and expectations of the workforce with the company’s overall goals and strategies. A program that reinforces important company values and goals will encourage employees to act in line with such goals and emphasize the importance of achieving these goals. Every human being needs motivation now and then. Incentives and recognition programs can support you in helping your employees become happier and more productive at work. As a leader, one of the main things to think about is how to recognize an employee for a performance that has exceeded expectations, objectives and goals. Therefore, I would like to introduce you in this paper to some ideas that hopefully would promote this method as one of the main priorities in today's and tomorrow's workplace.
