Unlike learning Spanish or German in school, English classes are not teaching how to speak English, as much as it is perfecting the use of the language. English classes are commonly known as places to read novels, poems, essays, and novellas; it is also a setting to learn the mechanics of the English language and how to expand your vocabulary. English classes I have taken in the past have expanded my knowledge on the English language.

Effective communication skills are crucial to my success in both my personal and professional life and this course has helped me tremendously of becoming a more confident speaker. I’ve learned various communication techniques such as listening, active listening, verbal and nonverbal skills to connect with audiences once I speak in front of a large group of people.

Classes in ESL Services are designed for their students’ needs and the faculty helps them to achieve their English goals. The English Language Program (ELP) has not been fully developed. The class I observed is just beginning to incorporate the needs of non-English speaking students due to the need of ESL students. A teacher assists 4 students.

Not only does professional development help me become a better teacher but also the courses from Walden University. I have learned and adapted numerous ideas from other teachers and professors. The strategies and teaching English language learner’s courses have been the most influential.

English is an international language which is used officially all around the world. Anybody who wants to make connections with the world we live in should learn English. I had English language classes in my secondary and high school years. I also took some private English learning courses throughout summers in my country, Turkey. However, I could not improve my English effectively as all Turkish students in Turkey. I fully agree that English will be learned most efficiently in the boundaries of an English-speaking country not in the home country because of some cases. Therefore, I came here, USA, to learn English better after graduation from my university.

In teaching and learning English, there are two aspects that should be concerned. The first one is the language skills such as speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The second one is the language components such as vocabulary, and grammar. These two aspects are taught in order to make the students achieve the ability in communicating both in spoken and written forms.

If a person wants to get PHD degree English is important and helpful for them.
