In reviewing the learning objectives for these particular courses, I believe I can demonstrate I have exceeded all the expectations drawing on my professional career spanning over 17 years in a variety of settings as a Child and Youth Worker, various courses and workshops I have attended, in addition to the Child and Youth Worker Diploma I received at George Brown College in 2000, you will note on my transcript that I have already completed some of the courses above.

Below are some examples that demonstrate this statement:

• Throughout my entire working career, but more importantly in my current role as a Child and Youth Worker at Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB), I have attended and participated in numerous courses and training specifically dealing with child abuse and neglect. I am familiar with the protocols/responsibilities as they relate to my “duty to report” and throughout my career, I have make the difficult call to Children’s Aid Society numerous times; and in some cases the police became involved. While working at Children’s Aid Society (C.A.S.), the young people in our group home were already removed from their parents’ care. I have been instrumental in implementing and providing trauma counseling as well as life skills training as the need arose. I approach my work from an empowerment perspective, so each child/youth can take the tools I have given them to succeed in their life.
