Lebron James: Role Model

Many people have a person that they look up to and who encourages them. It's someone who I think doesn't give up and gets back up when they fall down, who has an impact to other people around them and they work for what they have earned. A person that is a role model to me is a man named Kobe Bryant. He is a basketball player that accomplished many things in his career. He was also born on August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Biography Today 44). He is someone who overtime has shown persistence and courage throughout his career in basketball. Kobe Bryant was a role model and inspiring basketball player that had a great legacy in the NBA.

Did you know that LeBron James’s 1st sports team were the South Rangers, a football team? LeBron James, the famous basketball player, born in Akron, Ohio, started off as the stereotypical boy that you would find in a rough neighbourhood. Through determination, skill, practice, etc. LeBron was able to climb out of the stereotypical hole he was born into, and the beginning of that fight sparked the start of a life full of achievements, money, excitement, and has also allowed LeBron to give the kind of comfort and security to his family that he never had as a child. Fatherless boy to Basketball legend, LeBron James has not led a boring life.

My topic is about the full impact LeBron James has had on the NBA and society. He is known as a modern-athlete activist, he has never been shy to express his thoughts on social issues outside and inside of the NBA. LeBron James has played such a major role in the Black Lives Matter movement. For example, in the opening of the 2016 ESPYs, LeBron mentioned all the recent police shootings that have been occurring, and expresses his feelings on how he wants change. My topic will also talk about the impact he’s had on the economy, not only the impact inside of the NBA but thing’s he’s done outside of the league. Overall, I’ll explain the overall impact that he’s had on the world, and how much of an influence he has been in the African American community.

Lebron James has the dribbling skills of a point guard and the physical grit of a power forward. He can dunk from almost the free throw line, and also drain the threes. Growing up in Oklahoma, with no NBA team in the state I found myself becoming fascinated with the Cleveland Cavaliers star player, LeBron James. It went along to teach me don’t give up, because of the obstacles faced as a child, turn it into motivation to place yourself where wanting to envisioned years from now.
