At the time of the MGM Grand Fire, it was not required that fire department personnel had to be part of the building construction plan review process. The fire department is now largely involved in the construction and plan review process before a building is built. Also, construction materials used are more fire resistant. Ventilation systems have also been improved, and are very helpful in removing the smoke, rather than allowing it to make its way to upper floors of a high rise structure, which was a large cause of loss of life in the MGM Grand fire due to smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning.

There are many areas in the fire service where potential lawsuits and liability can arise; some of these areas include, but are most definitely not limited to negligence, hazing, and not following the fire department’s SOPs/SOGs. As our society has changed, so has its expectations of those in emergency services—while many in the community may think of firefighters as the pinnacle of what an upstanding citizen must look like, there are countless moral and ethical pitfalls that firefighters can fall prey to and diminish the reputation of the fire service.

In 2003, possibly one of the worst wildfires in California’s history occurred. This fire, referred to as the Cedar Fire, spread across 273,246 acres.

According the agency of the Department of Homeland Security states that motor vehicles crashes are the leading cause of death for an on-line duty fireman. Other significant causes of death are: caught/trapped (10%), fall (5%), collapse (3%), and other (7%). Intentions of firefighters are to make the community safe as possible, but we the people need to think twice before we do anything else when dealing with fire. The other things that it 's a national problem for firefighters is not wearing their seat belts when driving out to an emergency. They are so focused on saving our lives when first it 's supposed to be the opposite, their safety is first, but firemen put their lives at risk.

These are the survivors thoughts on the Triangle Factory Fire. There was over 100 survivors but I choose two of the most important people who lived from the fire and I am sharing their thoughts.

The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire of 1911 was one of the most lethal workplace tragedies in American history. 141 young women died that day, because of their unsafe work conditions. If they had fire extinguishers and a sprinkler system, or even just a better fire escape, no one would’ve had to die. The girls did not have access to these things however, because they were not required by law.

The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 went on for several days, destroyed thousands of buildings, killed many people, and cause well over millions of dollars in damage. This is a horrible tragedy that happen in our country. It led to unlawfulness of the citizens it affected. There is still great controversy on the start of the fire. Although we do know that in the end everything turned out good and the city is now rebuilt bigger and better than before and is still continuing to grow to this day.

March 25, 1911 about 145 people were killed due to a tragic fire. The fire was called the Triangle Factory, it was one of the largest disaster in New York before 9/11. Before the fire there weren’t many rules that aided in the prevention of massive fires, and a lot of people died because of that. Since the fire new labor laws and fire safety laws.

During this investigation, I will be analyzing the aftermath of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire that occured in New York City on March 25, 1911. I will specifically be addressing the question, “To what extent did the Triangle Factory Fire of 1911 help give workers the reforms that they had already been demanding?”

Within the United States there are five different types of construction. Firefighters need to know and understand each of them. Every construction type have fire resistant weaknesses, these weaknesses will result in fire spreading in the building. If firefighters understand how the fire will spread, then understand how to extinguish the fire faster and more importantly firefighters are better protected from injuries or worse. In America all buildings are associated with one of the types of construction, identified by Roman number. The building codes are, fire resistant (type I), combustible (type II), ordinary construction (type III), heavy-timber construction (type IV) and wood-frame construction (type V). It is important to remember that all buildings are not the same. Each different building construction type will burn much differently than the others do. In order to be able to size-up a building 's fire hazard, firefighters need to be able to understand a buildings contents and construction. Materials that are stored inside of the building and also materials used to construct the building will both fuel the fire. Also know that if a structure is vacant or if the contents in the building are not combustible, the main fire hazard is the building.
