This past summer while working at Camp Wyonegonic, one of my fellow counselors experienced a family tragedy that resulted in her leaving camp halfway through the summer. As a staff, we were shocked by the loss of a crucial team member and friend. We all wanted to mourn alongside her, but we also knew that we needed to stay strong in the interest of the young campers who were upset and confused to see their counselor leave so suddenly. To solve this problem, I made it my mission to direct everyone’s attention to the more positive aspects of the summer such as our upcoming production of “Legally Blonde: The Musical” or by instigating a spontaneous dance party. This boosted everyone’s morale, and it gave each staff member the push each of us needed
I was delegated the position of President of the club in the beginning of sophomore year. By this time, all the upperclassmen had graduated. A club of nineteen, was now a club of three. In addition, the teacher who facilitated the club for three years, and appointed me the position, left our school. To further add to the situation, the newly chosen Vice President left the club unexpectedly. Now, there were only two people left in the club. I had a lot of hard work ahead but thought of it as an opportunity to grow this club in new ways. I wanted to encourage students with no experience to join. I wanted to encourage students who could not afford a ski trip to join. I wanted to encourage
The sun rose, my Vigil concluded, and I was fetched back to the main campground. The motto of the Vigil was introduced, “leadership in service,” a capstone to the surreal lesson the restless night had delivered. I returned to school, band, Scouts, and the other organizations with which I was (and currently am) affiliated, and I reexamined my involvement in each through this newfound
As the week progressed and friendships formed between everyone, I realized the importance of the camp to all that were involved. To the counselors it was a learning experience, as well as a time to appreciate all that we would usually take for granted; to the campers it was a time to learn and make new friends, and for most of them, it would also serve as their only form of a summer vacation. So although we were all exhausted by the end of the week, we had a great time.
Humorous, energetic, enjoyable and all-around fun, Legally Blonde: The Musical captured my attention from the get-go. This comical yet heartwarming musical portrays the story of a young woman following an ex-love to Harvard Law School only to realize the potential she possessed within herself and in the new life she creates for her own. After viewing this hit Broadway production, I am fascinated with how this theatre play was brought to life on stage with the lighting, sound, spacing and overall entertainment from the cast to the costumes. Altogether, this play is one of my all-time favorite productions and it is one that keeps my attention from the moment it takes off to the closing of the curtain at the end.
"I don't need back-ups. I'm going to Harvard." With this line Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) begin begins her journey to Harvard law in the iconic movie Legally Blonde. This movie follows Elle's progression from sorority girl to Harvard law graduate. After her future is shaken by an unexpected breakup she decides the best way to get her love back is to head to Harvard after him. However, through some unexpected turns, hard work, and hard lessons, she comes out stronger and more accomplished that she could have ever expected. This fun loving movie has many things to offer including a title that clues the audience in on the theme, a well picked lead actress, and a good message.
From the time we step on that field to the time we drag ourselves off it, things need to be done quickly and efficiently. I believe that not only would I be able to make the most of our time, but I would be able to keep my section in a good mood while doing it. Despite my friends’ exasperation when it comes to my cheesy sense of humor, it often acts as a means to boost morale. For example, during sectionals when everyone is tired and sunburnt from the day’s practice, I’ll be sure to crack a joke or two to lighten the mood and have them walk away with a slightly better attitude. Not only that, I’ll even be sure to cheer them on and act as their personal cheerleader when it’s a little too hot or the practice is a little too long. As you might have guessed from the rest of my essay, I have developed strong relationships with the people in my section. Not only have I known Maggie and Abbie since our middle school days, but Kaitlyn acted as my mentor freshman year, and Kyle and I have become good friends after this past concert season. I believe that with these relationships my section will not only accept my authority, but they will respect it as well. As I care a great deal for my section, I will enjoy being able to push them to be the best they can be, and the upcoming freshman will just as easily become a part of
Waking up 6:30 in the morning isn't common for me but July 28th was the day I was driving up to Athens for Dawg Camp. I was waiting for this day since I was fortunate to receive a scholarship to go to Dawg Camp Discovery thanks to the UGA Parents Leadership Council. Every UGA event I attended, convinced me that Dawg Camp was an once in a lifetime opportunity. I was beyond ecstatic when I found out I was one of the recipient of the reward. Once arriving at UGA, I walked into Ramsey startled by the excitement coming from the basketball court. All of the camp counselors were beyond theatric when all of the campers came in one by one. As the day went on, I began to connect with my group, Silver 4, more and more. We were able to talk about our
On the evening of March 23, 2017, after a nice dinner with my aunt and uncle, I bid them adieu and went into the Asolo Repertory Theater to see Born Yesterday. The playwright is Garson Kanin, and the director of the Asolo’s production is Peter Amster. The story was amazing. It was like Legally Blonde meets My Fair Lady a la 1950s. And I loved every second of it. The production itself was incredible, it brought to life a story of greed and how women were, and still are, regarded as infantile and how this ignorance can be used to bring about the downfall of those who underestimate women. It did this through the use of wonderful acting, and fabulous set and costumes.
I know I had very eventful and fun summer, I hope you did too. As part of my AP Lang summer work I had the astounding privilege of reading The Boys in the Boat; and I just want to convey that this book is utterly breathtaking about how anyone can overcome the odds and find that little sliver of hope in the most darkest of times.Throughout reading the book,I thought specifically about our Physical education class and how Daniel James Brown’s descriptions of Teamwork and Differences relate to our recent class discussions about transitioning to the next unit:Team sports.
There's a scene in the new musical "RENT" that may be the quintessential romantic moment of the '90s. Roger, a struggling rock musician, and Mimi, a junkie who's a dancer at an S/M club, are having a lovers' quarrel when their beepers go off and each takes out a bottle of pills. It's the signal for an "AZT break," and suddenly they realize that they're both HIV-positive. Clinch.
Kelly Marsh’s Written analysis over Legally Blonde, and Trifles is a highly likely outcome for many reasons. Some of these reasons being, she is fair to both sides, has quotes and evidence to support her claim, and lastly being the detail she brings her evidence to you in.
Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors’ cars. Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn’t help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling
“Legally Blonde” is a wonderful musical because the colorful scenes gives audience a visual enjoyment, and the beautiful music gives them a fresh acoustic experience. “Legally Blonde” is presented by Performance Riverside and RCC Fine & Performing Arts. It is directed and choreographed by Roger Castellano, and the musical director is Dennis Castellano. I went to watch this great show, which was performed at RCC’s Landis Performing Arts Center, on September 27,2014 at 2 p.m. I would like to comment on this musical in three ways: the plot, the design, and the acting.
The movie I chose, is titled Legally Blonde, starring Reese Witherspoon. The movie follows the story of Elle Woods, who seems to have it all. With her stunning blonde hair, sorority sisters, and her rich, senator aspiring boyfriend, she’s sure to have the perfect life. Elle’s world gets turned upside down when her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III, leaves her in the dust for Harvard law school in an attempt to find a “Jackie O” type of woman. Instead of the shallow, unserious, and unwise, “Marilyn”, he claims Elle to be. Feeling desperate, Elle finds her way into law school in an attempt to prove Warner wrong and win him back. She then goes on to win a spot along with Warner and his new
This Summer, I had the best time of my life. I learned some valuable lessons, I made some friends, and I had so much fun. Even if I didn’t know it. This is the story of my summer camp experience.
