Legislation of ICT

The purpose of legislation is to control and regulate the use of ICT. Different acts in result in different benefits to the end user or other people affected by the technology.

Use of computer systems can be intrusive and can lead to the loss of privacy to the individual. I will show below how legislation can protect against this intrusion.

There many other problems and opportunities that are presented by the use of ICT. Legislation protects people and ensures that there is no abuse by others to those investing in the technology.

Copyright rises when an individual or organisation creates a work, and a work is subject to it if it is regarded as original, and must an exhibit a degree of labour, skill or judgement. Interpretation is related to the independent creation rather than the idea behind the creation.

Normally the individual or collective who authored the work will exclusively own the copyright. However, if a work is produced as part of employment then normally the copyright belongs to the person/company who hired the individual. For freelance or commissioned work, copyright will usually belong to the author of the work, unless there is an agreement to the contrary.
