LEONARDO DA VINCI Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most well-known renaissance artists. He was born on April 15, 1452 in Vinci, Anchiano. People usually know his name related to the Mona Lisa or the Last Supper paintings. However, he was an artist who spends most of his time on his inventions and different interests. As well as his artistic skills, he was also a good mathematician, geometrician, architect, anatomist and engineer. His eager to know many things and his curiosity made him a multidirectional person. Leonardo da Vinci started his artistic life when his father showed some of his works to a famous artist Andrea del Verrocchio. After his art education as apprentice of Verrocchio, he started working for Sforz, Duke of Milano. His life beyond art and sculpture started with his job in Milano. He not only made paintings and sculptures for Sforz, but also invented weapons and machines. While he was working for Sforz, he also worked for church constructions and sanitary system designs. So his relation to fluid mechanics started. He worked in many canal projects, especially one of them is the biggest one which connects different fields of Milan with irrigation water.
