There are Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people living in Jordan who are faced with discrimination by the non – LGBT persons. Homosexual conduct between consenting adults is legal in Jordan. Being Gay and living in Jordan is tough because of religion. The dominant religion is Islam and than Muslim and in both of their belief’s being gay is forbidden. If they are gay I believe that if not all most of them don’t ever really come out they life a double life. They keep it to themselves because they don’t want to be judged or be discriminated against. During the 1950s wasn’t only a time of oppression and persecution, but a time when gay men and lesbians created and resistance. The Homophile movement also happened in the 1950s. Homophile emphasizes love in Greek rather than sex, which at the time more people favored. The term homophile began to disappear when the Gay resistance came to part, which ended in the 1960s and was replaced by GLBT in the 1970s. What is the purpose of gay marriage? Well I think the question that needs to be asked is what is the purpose of marriage period. The purpose of marriage is to express how deep your love is to someone and to show how committed you are someone. The constitution does say there shall be equality under the law so why is it that there are only 16 states that allows gay marriage in the US. If straight people can get married than gay people should too. This whole subject is so controversial but what I do know is that gay marriage is not allowed in Jordan. Jordan definitely doesn’t have an interest in gay marriage not now or anytime soon. The US being a free country has only 16 states that gay marriage is legal than I definitely think that one day decades from now gay marriage will be legalized but not now I believe that if two people are in love they should be able to get married they shouldn’t be discriminated against or killed because of who they love.
