What did you think about the “intervention” with Deville? I think Deville has reason to be upset because he was not believing in keeping a promise. Leslie’s many effective-albeit-borderline-sketchy tactics. She has many moments where she handles things in a way that does not mirror school regulations most of which yield successful outcomes. I think that the intervention was necessary, given that suspensions, threats from the school, and Leslie screaming at him did nothing. Hearing those words of his peers took him to a place he was ashamed of, and I think Leslie made the right decision. 5. After reading chapter 19-26, jot down your thoughts about the events that took place in the story. These parts contained a lot of important content. There was the bathroom scene, where Leslie lamented and cried with the girls about the unfairness of the situation; …show more content…
When she got the fighting under control, there were days that she could not command the attention of the room. I think she realized the administration wasn’t going to do anything more than suspend the students, which wasn’t considered a punishment by them, and that she developed her own strategies of classroom management that were ultimately successful. Teaching strategies Many of Leslie’s teaching strategies were somewhat questionable and often not by-the-book, but I think that’s what made her a great teacher. I think that showing up to these kids’ houses near Christmas, taking them in her own car to visit a charter school, bringing a snake her cat dragged in for educational show-and-tell, and allowing some religious aspects to enter her room all were decisions she made that benefitted every kid in her room. I think that no teacher is perfect, and she wasn’t either: but I believe that every day, she gave her all to do what was best for her students, and that’s all you can ask
7) I can imagine myself re-reading this book again in 10 years because this book is amazing and it is perfect for teenagers and young adult readers. This book is griping and beautifully written. When reading this book you get thrown into the apocalyptic setting. I would recommend this book to my friends because I loved it and all the other books in the series. It’s just great.
I observed the kindergarten classroom of Sarah House. During my observation, Ms. House completed a language arts lesson with her students. Ms. House used both whole class instruction and one on one instruction during her lesson. I felt that she did an amazing job with classroom management and created lessons that were not only engaging, but fun for the students.
“Our teacher says Miss Caroline’s introducing a new way of teaching” (18). Caroline Fisher showed courage when she moved from her home in northern Alabama to a completely different place to where she has no knowledge of to become a teacher in Maycomb. Caroline may have been emotionally weak, but she still held on and was determined to teach. She never gave up and it takes courage not to give up even when the temptation is too great. Even though Caroline was not a good teacher, she never gave up on
The climax is very heart-retching and deals with the narrator selfishness. After that, the narrator should have learned not to be selfish and to never let anyone get left
So, it’s over. It was difficult but I liked it. It was a challenge for me sometimes to understand the story but I’m someone who likes challenges. It was a totally new experience because before I red always very easy books who tells immediately the story but in this book you need to search on your own for answer and that what I like. I don’t like books that give all the information, when you search on your own for answers you can understand the story better. I would read this book again because it was a good but difficult
The characters bring a riveting story to life when reading. Throughout the book, I felt emotions left and right for the characters and what they were going through. There is a lot of mystery and questioning that will be answered later in the book, but once its done, there are still many questions being asked. when I look for a book, that is something that stands out to me because I really want to read more, and when you have that reaction to a book, that means it was worth reading. I found this book remarkable because of the behaviors, characteristics, and decisions that the characters make, and I recommend this book to everyone, even if they don’t like to
Conversations in class were a huge contributor to never getting anything done. Whether the conversation was about when our next food day would be or the outfit she was wearing, it was never important. These conversations did not encourage a positive learning environment and certainly did not reflect into our education well. Students should have liked her better considering that she acted like a friend to many of us. One of the things I hate most is when adults try to be friends with teenagers in inappropriate situations, such as at school where the adult should hold a higher standard of professionalism. There is a difference between having fun with students and losing all authority over them. She is lucky that any students listened to her towards the end of the year because most students would not have been mature enough to behave without a teacher disciplining them. She never threatened detention and she definitely did not give a reason to respect her. So, it actually seems like a miracle that the class was not complete chaos. It could have been much worse if we were not such respectful students. Ms. Fetterman should have been a role model as well as a teacher, and she failed at both tasks. Since she lost respect from her students they no longer put in effort towards her classwork, which ultimately lead to a decline in students’ performance in school. The only effort put into her class was fueled purely by that individual’s desire to learn, despite no motivation to do so from Ms.
That is why she had a few power struggles. She resolved a feud by taking control, “But when one of the boys became exceptionally difficult and resisted her authority, she used a whip on him. The female students gasped! The boys were astounded. The misbehaving boy fell to the floor after receiving several blows” (Crompton “Early Life”).
High school teachers have to teach multiple students over different class period throughout the day. This can be a difficult challenge as the have the put up with 15 to 25 students per class. However Mrs. Hess-Bolte had to deal with 40 to 50 students in some of her class period. As one might imagine when that many people are gathered in one room it can often lead to some loud and chaotic situation and it is in these times that Mrs. Hess shows her ability to be patience. When child being to talk even after being told not to she simply takes a breath and wait for it to stop. These would drive many, me included, to insinuate but Mrs. Hess-Bolte takes it all in stride. Likewise another instance in which she shows her Patiences is through her directing. Leaning a choir song can be a long process that takes many hours to fully complete. However Mrs. Hess-Bolte isn't afraid to take that time to make the selection the best it can be. When something is wrong with a song she will patiently work through the problem until it is solved. It is in theses way that Mrs. Hess-Bolte shows her Patiences in the classroom and is deserving of the best teacher award.
In this story, you will hear my couple differents claims/thesis for each part of the story (beginning, middle, and end). The thesis I came up with are what I thought of what was happening overall in the story.
This was quite an interesting story. There were three sections to the story which broke the story in three different times in one day. The characters were all very nonchalant except for the priest who showed some emotion when he found out that old Teofilo died. The story kept our interest, however, it did not lead a very clear trail to the end, and there was no real climax where we felt there was a good peak. The story needs to be read more than once to really be appreciated.
I almost gave up on it and indeed let it lay for many weeks untouched before I decided that I just had to finish it. I have this thing about not leaving tasks uncompleted; it makes me crazy unless it’s really something VERY unpleasant (like reading A Lion Among Men). I am so glad that I pushed myself to finish this book, though! Once we reached the introduction of my favorite part of the book and to who I would argue is the main character, even though he’s not the narrator: a young Edgar Allen Poe! At the end they explain that of course the parts about him are entirely made up, but it’s still exciting to see one persons take on what his personality might have been like. I had one friend who always SWORE that she saw any twist in any book, movie, etc. coming from the very beginning. I assure you that if she said she’d known how this one was going to end from the beginning, she would have really been full of it! lol Just when you THINK you might have it, new evidence is presented to implicate someone else. In the end, the culprit is someone that you would NEVER suspect for reasons you would NEVER suspect them. All-in-all I really enjoyed this book and its historical
The book series is an entire plot that is separated into six books with the last one having two parts. And finally, as the books are part of a whole story, there will be cliffhangers that keep the audience wanting to know more, so the hype is still getting bigger. So, let’s go over all of the topics I’ll be covering in this essay.
He does however feel as though he’s failed with his confrontation with the boys because previously he always let the intruders go, and although this time he confronted them, he still let them go, just like everyone else previously, so therefore he doesn’t think he was tough enough, and thinks he did nothing differently.
